Breitling Navitimer 1 Automatic 41, 38 and 35mm Watch Review | SwissWatchExpo

From SwissWatchExpo…
Spotlight on: the Breitling
Navitimer 1. The unisex Navitimer.
Breitling traces its roots to
making precision instruments,
made especially for pilots and military
use. When it comes to aviation watches,
there’s no doubt that the Breitling
Navitimer is on top of the list.
Breitling has made strides in
bringing the Navitimer’s reach
beyond the aviation crowd. Aside from organizing
the products into air, land, and sea models,
they also launched watches that were
appealing to both men and women.
One such offering is the Breitling Navitimer
1 Automatic. It successfully developed the
Navitimer into an approachable
and stylish time-and-date model.

When it launched in 2018, Breitling
fans immediately noticed the absence
of the chronograph function on the
Breitling Navitimer 1 Automatic.
It was also introduced in a
midsized 38 millimeter case.
Clearly, it was created as an everyday
watch with mass market appeal.
While there is no chronograph, Breitling
included the iconic slide rule bezel,
and affectionate nods to two vintage Navitimers.
The rice bead-style bezel was
inspired by the Navitimer 8-0-6,
while the clean three-hand dial is
a reference to the Navitimer 66.
Baton hour markers, and

strategically placed red
details on the index markers and seconds hand,
make for a sleek look.

The Breitling Navitimer 1 Automatic offers a
wide range of variations. It was introduced in
a 38 millimeter case size in 2018, making it as
much of a lady’s watch, as it is a gentleman’s.
This was followed by a 41
millimeter version in 2019,
and finally a 35 millimeter
ladies’ version in 2020.
All Breitling Navitimer 1 Automatic watches come
with a choice of a stainless steel case and bezel,
or a combination of stainless
steel and 18k red gold.
Each size also comes with a choice of
versatile black, blue, and silver dials.
An anthracite dial is made
available in the 41mm range,
while the ladies range comes with a choice of a
copper dial or a diamond-set mother of pearl dial.
Lastly, all models come with
a choice of a black, blue,
or brown alligator leather strap — or a
stainless steel Navitimer style bracelet.

The Navitimer 1 Automatic is powered
by the Breitling 17 movement.
This caliber is not produced
in-house, but is based on one
of the most time-tested movements in
Swiss watchmaking – the ETA 2-8-2-4-2.
The COSC chronometer certified movement
offers a power reserve of 38 hours,
and performs with an accuracy of
minus 4 and plus 6 seconds per day.

With the Navitimer 1 Automatic’s
approachable and stylish design,
Breitling succeeds in championing
fine horology for everyone.
