Camp Chef is Changing the Game!! | Woodwind Pro Review

what’s up you guys it’s Susie from HeyGrillHey.com today we are at the Camp Chef woodwind Pro launch event and we are going to be doing our first ever video product review but I’m not going to be doing it we have a very special guest this is Brandon he’s been working at Hey Grill Hey for years give him a little bit of an intro well as Susie said my name is Brandon I’ve been doing product reviews for the last year or so for Hey Grill Hey and today I’m going to show you everything you need to

know about this Grill I’ve had it in my backyard for a few weeks now got to know all the ins and outs let’s get to it so this is actually my first time cooking on the woodwind Pro we’ve got some brisket some beef ribs rolling it smells fantastic but since it’s my first time cooking on the grill I don’t know too much about it Brandon like he said he’s had this girl for a couple of weeks so he’s gonna give us a rundown on the features of the woodwind Pro so the woodwind Pro is a

redesigned version of Camp Chef’s woodwind that they’ve had out for years basically it runs the same controller the same control system you’ve got a full stainless steel body here

the side kick fits on the side of it just like the other ones there’s some notable differences though the legs have been redesigned and that’s one of my favorite Parts this is much more stable than the old system used to be if you look down here it’s kind of hard to see but Camp Chef has gone ahead and put all four feet on casters this time a

much needed upgrade over the old woodwind models um the main features of this Grille that make it different than the standard woodwind this is this is most excited about right here up front is the Firebox now this guy um allows you to put wood chunks right in here come in here Todd so not only does this Grill run on pellets for heat and flavor you can also add whatever your heart desires to this Firebox lump charcoal charcoal briquettes those new flavored briquettes you’re seeing everywhere wood chunks whatever you want this damper here controls the ignition

so over in this position it ignites whatever you put in the box as soon as that’s going you just close it down here and it just smokes the whole time so Todd tonight we actually had a chance to try the Prototype of this model two years ago when they were first coming out with the idea and I know you guys have seen the same complaints on social media that we have seen maybe you even have the same complaints you know I love the convenience and ease of my pellet smoker but I’m not getting enough smoke

flavor I miss the charcoal flavor I missed the heavier bark that you get on an offset this was Camp Chef’s attempt to answer those pain points in the pellet grill world and the pellet grill community so you get the Heat and convenience of pellets but it is it’s that added flavor that added punch that extra layer of smoke that you get from adding things directly to the Firebox that I’m personally the most excited about now Camp Chef they are really interested in your feedback and this Grill is a direct product of thousands and thousands of

comments online saying that pellet grills don’t put out enough flavor I’m here to tell you this box right here full of wood chunks it’s it’s unbelievable for a pellet grill now other than that the new features on this Grill include this right here it has a double walled insulated lid which helps hold heat in better oh yeah and the gasket here on the edge I see a lot of people adding adding aftermarket gaskets to prevent that smoke coming out they just put it on so one thing that I noticed design wise about this Grill is

we do have the stainless the thicker lid the bigger legs but there’s no smoke stack on the back and from the engineering team that we talked to at Camp Chef the reason for that is the way that this circulates the airflow and the smoke in the chamber is a little bit different than Woodwinds that we’ve seen in the past there’s actually two vents on the back that allow you to control the smoke release a little bit more and the way that it draws the smoke supposedly circulates it around the food better so as Susie was

saying just a second ago there’s no stack on this Grill these vents you can see here are fully adjustable and the key thing about that is the controller actually has a fan only mode so you’re able to ignite what’s in that Firebox we showed you before four chunks charcoal protection exactly the benefit there is it makes cold smoking a breeze in this thing you can ignite that fuel choke these vents down a little bit and it helps hold a little bit of heat or get rid of a bit of a little bit of heat whatever

you need it to do hold in that smoke it makes it really easy for cheeses and fish yeah salmon anything you need to cold smoke pork belly for bacon whatever you want now I’m hungry all right take us through there are a couple other features that I think the woodwind pro has had on previous models but it’s always good to know about especially if this is your first time looking at a Camp Chef woodwind product what have we got on the back side so just like every other Camp Chef would win you’ve got the nice

pellet clean out here it makes changing out flavors really simple and really easy down lower you’ve got the same fire pot cup that you can dump the fire pot into for easy cleanup well that’s nice too because in the Firebox where you add the wood add the briquettes those ashes also dump into the same fire pot that the pellet Ash goes to so it’s one clean out for the whole system this Grill also features the side kick add-on that you’ve been able to put on any Camp Chef would win for the past forever it fits

any of the 14-inch Camp Chef accessories so the grill box the pizza oven The Griddle that we’ve got on top of it now it really use it as like a wicked powerful burner if you’re frying doing corn 30 000 whole BTUs we need was this oh we make Tallow outside all the time all the time it really helps make this just an all-in-one unit we’ve covered a lot of the features that the woodwind pro has to offer Brandon’s going to give us his kind of Pros and reviews so we wanted to bring it to our

video reviews as well so the pros of this Grill if you’re an expert griller or intermediate griller this is perfect for you you can get more flavor out of it it’s a well-built unit just like all Camp chefs are stainless steel like I mentioned before the nice casters all Pros the stainless steel would go on my personal console everybody else likes stainless steel well it’s harder for me to keep clean but it is rest resistant and it’s great for the elements in the outdoors so I guess if it’s a pro for you then it’s a

pro it would be a con on my list sorry carry on the cons are essentially the pros at the same time like I said this is an advanced Grille or an intermediate Grill it still will perform all of the basic functions that a woodwind would the ease of use with the pellets but combining that with this Firebox for some extra flavor uh so if you’re a beginner this Grill may not be exactly what you want um and so that’s one of the cons another con that we found with this unit specifically and we’ve discussed this

with the cat with the Camp Chef Engineers is when you’re running this Grille if you need to reload this Firebox if you reach in here a little bit too fast you’ll burn your knuckles the engineers said that they’re working on a larger extended handle which will be a fix for it but in the moment just be careful grabbing it out and I want to add one note I think this is a grill that you could grow into if you were getting into the pellet grill game for the first time it operates just like a pellet

grill but with the added feature of the Firebox it takes a little bit more of an understanding about how Fire Works how wood burns how charcoal Burns how to regulate the venting system and you know the control on the baffle um I think you could grow into it so if you’re really into barbecue and this would be your first pellet grill it might be a little Advanced but I think you could get there does that make sense 100 agree our Advanced more but you want the ease and convenience of the pellet grill I don’t think

there’s another pellet roll that gives you this level of control over your end product over your flavor profiles and over your temperatures I’m personally pretty stoked about it all right we’ve run through our personal pros and cons they’re not all the same and it won’t be the same name for you at home as well this is why we don’t want to tell you what to buy we want to present a product to you give you the information that you need to make the decision that you want to make for your family and the type of

food that you want to cook and the way that you want to cook it with that said we’re going to give you guys some information on pricing and where you can find the Woodland Pro now pricing on this unit this is the 24 inch model Camp Chef is producing a 24 inch and a 36 inch that we’ll show you here in a little bit the 24 inch model is going to start at 11.99 and that bigger 36 inch model is 14.99 now the 24 inch model like this one right here it has the Dual shelves

you can see we’ve got a whole brisket two racks of beef ribs I think this works great for an everyday family of four to six people and I think you could feed up to 20 to 30 if you’re having bigger events if you’re somebody that likes to smoke a lot all at once 36 is it’s a beast and I like it as for where you can find the Camp Chef woodwind Pro we’re going to give you guys our affiliate Link in the video description if you want to click that you can check out online because

they are brand new and recently available and we would love for you to be able to get your hands on one and we want to hear your feedback your pros and cons what you think about a grill like this are you excited about having the Firebox where you can add wood chunks the wood control features that you know you can’t get on a standard pellet grill let us know we’d be eager to hear it not only do we want to hear your feedback on this Grill we’d also like to hear your feedback on these review
