Captain Stag BBQ grill unboxing and review

today i’ll introduce to you the
captainstag three-height barbecue grill
i found out this company has an
interesting history
captainstag is a well-known camping
equipment company that is from the
nigata prefecture in japan
while in america they saw people in the
park having cookouts with these large
grills
they thought it’d be nice if the
japanese people could enjoy this type of
activity
they went back to japan and developed
their own version of the grill and
eventually was successful
it is said that captainstag is the
reason why outdoor grilling became
popular in japan
they also developed other camping
equipment and outdoor cooking supplies
to become one of the most popular
outdoor activity brands in japan
we bought this girl at time supermarket
which is owned by a popular japanese
discount store called don quixote
the grill costs 29.99
the instructions are in the back but are
in japanese
this grill was designed in japan
basically you put the caps on the legs
and join the legs depending on the
height you want
then insert the legs into the grill
okay so let’s open up the box
the reason why i wanted to

buy this
grill
is because of the mesh cooking surface
which reminds me of the yakiniku grills
in japan
the grills are easy to cook on and the
meat and vegetables can’t fall through
unlike the grills we have here
[Music]
oh by the way i saw similar grills
on amazon but they were more expensive
than this one
[Music]
let’s put in the first handle
put in one side first squeeze
put it in the second side and
let go
same thing on this side
let’s put the caps on the legs just put
on top and push
let’s put the first tab in just push
down the tab and insert the leg
repeat the process
on the rest
[Music]
turn over the grill
let’s put in the grill for the charcoal
just angle one side in
and drop it down
let’s put in the top grill
to make the highest setting
connect the two legs together by pushing
down the tab and inserting
just repeat
this is the highest setting with the two
legs attached
now we’ll start cooking
i use a charcoal chimney to ignite the
charcoal
make sure you spread the charcoal out
evenly and add more if needed
let’s make room for the sweet potato or
yucky emo in japanese
the sweet potato is wrapped in tin foil
today we are having two types of
sausages
we are also having homemade pipikala
which is a hawaiian style beef jerky
that our friends gave us
pipi kala is usually made with ginger
shoyu and some kind of heat component
either pepper or chili pepper depending
on the person
oh no
i misjudged how hot the fire is so i
burned the sausages
now for the vegetables
we are having zucchini and onions
mom made some teriyaki chicken
we used steak seasoning on the shark
ribs and also brought bone and ribeye
soaked in beer brine
hopefully i won’t burn the meat
[Music]
i think i’m getting used to this grill
now
oh yeah i almost forgot the hawaiian
style hot dogs
[Music]
[Music]
mom made some chow fun
[Music]
pipy color
[Music]
and the sausages
[Music]
yaki imo or sweet potato
zucchini
and the onions
this is my yoga and tuna salad
sweet potato and tuna salad
teriyaki chicken
and two kinds of steak
three kinds of fish cake and some black
olives
salman
salad hawaiian style hot dogs
food was really ono or delicious
[Music]
i used this grill a couple of times now
and here are my thoughts
as far as the construction
is pretty well mean but it’s not made to
be left outside
to maximize the life of this grill it’s
better to clean it up and store it in a
box
in the garage or in a storage shed
[Music]
this grill cooks hot because it’s close
to the charcoal
don’t put too much charcoal otherwise
you’ll burn the food like me
but once you have the right amount of
charcoal the grill cooks very nicely
food turned out very good with a hint of
smoky flavor
overall i like this grill and will
continue to use it
i’ll probably try cooking sliced meat
and vegetables like in the yakimuku
restaurants the next time
mahalo for watching see you next time
