CAR REVIEW – HONDA EG6 – JOURNEY OF A CAR ENTHUSIAST | 一个车迷的路程

Hi guys, today I will be reviewing an EG6
before I start, let me talk a little about this car’s history
around a decade ago the owner bought this car for MYR33 thousand
somehow the engine managed to blew up within an hour after purchase
the owner have no choice but to change to another new engine
by doing so the owner spend another extra MYR6000
other then just changing the engine
the owner also took the opportunity to modify the engine as well
the owner then spend another MYR16 thousand just on modification itself
sadly one day after the modification is done the owner took the car out for a drive
and there was some issues with the oil pressure
and once again the engine blew
after that the owner was really annoyed
the owner then took out another lump sum of money to rebuild and re-modify
this time around the owner spend another MYR23 thousand
because of this the owner has spend a lot of money on this car already
after the car is done the owner has very eager to drive the car
the owner then took the car for a dyno run even before the engine was properly run in
after the dyno, the owner drove the car for another 300km
and the engine blew up on him once again
so, in such a short

period time
the owner has blew up 3 engines
at that time the owner felt really beaten and down
after spending so much money yet the car is still giving so much problems
but then the owner never gave up
the owner then spend another MYR4000 to rebuild back the car
and the owner once again spend an extra MYR7000 to modify the car
this time around the owner took his sweet time to run in the car properly before sending it to the dyno
this time around during the dyno tune
the owner told the tuner
to pull back 20% of the engine’s full potential
hence tune the engine to just 80% of it’s full potential
and not using the full potential of it
this give the engine another extra 20% of margin for errors
by doing so it drops the percentage of another engine failure
because it is not pushing the engine parts to it’s full potential
the original plan for this car is to get it ready for Sepang Circuit
but because of the endless engine issues and modification the owner has spend way too much money on this car
the owner has currently drop the idea of taking this car to Sepang Circuit
now the owner is planning to just keep it nice and clean and use it as a weekend car
but don’t you guys go thinking that the owner has given up on his Sepang dreams
from what I know the owner is now searching for another car
and prep it for Sepang Circuit
so far the owner has already spend around MYR100 thousand in rebuilding and modifying this car
this is a true undying spirit of a car lover
now, let’s take a look at the engine bay
the owner is currently running a B18C Type R engine
this engine was taken out from a Integra DC2 Type R
as for as gearbox goes, the owner told me it is still running the stock gear ratio
non of the gear ratios has been changed
it’s very obvious that
the car is currently equipped with a S90 throttle body
and using an EdelBrock’s intake manifold
if any of you guys play Hondas’ here
do let me know in the comment box below
why a lot of Honda people like to use the EdelBrock’s intake manifold
this is something I don’t really understand, so do let me know if your a Honda enthusiast
the owner is also using a full set of Hasport engine mounting
and all this doesn’t come cheap
the cams that are currently equipped in this car is a set of DTR cams
and it’s running a set of 302 degrees cam
I believe today will be my first time driving a car with such a high profile cams
it is also running on a set of Tein Circuit Master suspension
I believe it would be a little stiffs for normal road use
but when it comes to high speed driving and cornering it should be hypes of fun
for the outlooks wise this car is running a carbon fibre hood and fenders
I always feel that a car would look cool with carbon fibre parts on it
although the outlook isn’t very massive
but I do like the style cause it was that “Kanjo” look to it
I’m not pro Honda in any kind of ways
so I’m not gonna talk too much as I’m also not very familiar with it
now I just can’t wait to go out and test this car out
hopefully you guys can hear what I say in the car cause I reckon it would be kind of noisy

I’ve finally done driving this EG
just now I didn’t really talk much during driving
because I reckon if I say anything you guys also
wouldn’t really be able to hear it
because this car is noisy
after driving this EG today I think I kind of like Honda cars now
I’ve driving the S2000 beforehand
so far my personal rating for Honda cars is all on the good side
although this car is running on high profile cams
but surprisingly it doesn’t have the usual problem of high profile cams
like no power or torque at low and mid range
this car has been setup nicely, as it doesn’t have any of that issues
although this set of suspension is mainly build for track use
just now during the test drive the suspension is still able to absorb all the road bumps quite nicely
so I personally think that it is a good combination
it does not feel like those purpose build track cars
where it is hard to drive on normal road as the car is to stiffs and will be just hoping all over the place
this car wouldn’t give you any of that issues
although once a time the owner did the car till he almost gave up
but I think this final outcome is very good
the build level is quite high *for a privateer
because rarely would I drive a car and go like I want one, *specially front-wheel drive
recently I’ve driven the S2000 and I like it a lot, but that is a whole different story
and after driving this EG
I’ve thought to myself it is a very nice car
I’m some more who doesn’t really care much about V-tec
till now I think that V-tec isn’t that bad
alright, enough of me babbling
maybe I can arrange with the owner to see when there is some local track days
maybe can bring the car owner and test out it’s track performance
alright, thats all for this episode
do remember to give this episode a THUMBS UP
