LENYES S805 Bluetooth Speaker REVIEW + AUDIO SAMPLE – UE Wonderboom versi Budget?

Eh, bro
Hmm?
Recently I’ve been heavily considering
buying a certain cylindrical bluetooth speaker
but I cant remember the name…hmm
Wonderwoman…hmm no….Wonderland…hmm no
Its “wonder-blablabla”, I just cant
remember the last part of its name!
Hmm…Wonder?
Wonderboom?….UE Wonderboom?
AH! Yes! Wonderboom! I remember now!
That cylindrical-shaped speaker
Anyway do you know where I can find that product?
I really want to purchase it so bad!
Jeez, that’s too EASY! Let me find it for you
ckckck
Quite sure you can find that product easily
in many online marketplaces!
Wait! Wait! Why on earth is this product out
of stock in many official stores in Indonesia??
I haven’t even been able to find the latest 2019 model,
UE Wonderboom 2, in any online store in Indonesia…
hmmm…should we look for its alternative, then?
Hello Mytechaudio viewers! I’m Ivan and
back with me again.
I often hear this myself, that there are many speaker
lovers out there in Indonesia who are very interested
in owning a UE wonderboom series speaker, either
the 1st gen or the 2nd one…
but end up facing difficulty in obtaining
this speaker,
either due to the fast-moving characteristic
of this product in the market

20
00:01:19,000 –> 00:01:24,000
or purely due to the product’s very-limited

/> stock in Indonesia.
Some others may actually put interest in purchasing this
product, however after looking at its pricetag (USD 99)…
“urgh, no”…perhaps for them, the USD 99 price tag
is still too much, especially for a mini speaker
Well, there is actually a relieving news…
One of audio brand from China, the Lenyes
I dont know the correct way to pronounce it
I’ll simply pronounce this “Lenyes”
Last year, Lenyes launched one of
its latest-released speaker,
the Lenyes S805…
At first glance, this speaker looks quite
similar to UE Wonderboom
from the standing-cylindrical body,
to the 360 degree audio output direction.
But there’s one thing that distinguishes
this from the UE Wonderboom speakers, which is
no other than its much lower pricetag,
at only IDR 230k (around USD 16)
and that’s only around one sixth of
UE Wonderboom’s official pricetag.
this factor alone successfully convinced me to purchase
not one, but 2 speakers, and review them in this video.
Kindly check out some purchase links that
I’ve provided below, hopefully that helps.
As usual, this is not a sponsored video
and I personally purchased these speakers
with my own money in one of online marketplaces
in Indonesia.
So lets not waste any more time,
and just get started!
Going over the physical material For a IDR 230k speaker,
Lenyes S805 doesn’t look cheap at all.
The speaker is wrapped by fabric in majority part of its
body, and in some area plastic fiber-like material is used.
There is also rubber material used in
buttons area and the ports’ water resistant flap
As for the weight, the speaker weights around 548 gram
which is more on the medium-to-heavy range for a mini speaker
At the top we can find some buttons, first is power
button, just tap it once to turn on the speaker,
tap 2x to enter pairing mode with other Lenyes speaker
in order to create True wireless stereo mode,
hold the power button for 3 secs to turn the speaker off,
and 8 secs to set the speaker back to its factory setting.
Next we have play/pause button which can also be used
to answer, hang up, or reject incoming phone call,
or to disconnect the speaker from any
existing wireless connection.
There are also +/- volume buttons whose function not
only for increasing or decreasing the output volume,
but also for moving to the next or previous track by
holding the button for 2 secs.
LED indicator shows flashing blue light when the
speaker is looking for a device to connect to,
and will turn into solid blue once it’s been
in a connection
Solid red LED shows up when the speaker is charging
and will be off once the speaker is fully charged
Moving on to the side, there are micro USB port
for charging and micro SD card slot
that can read micro SD card up to
64 GB capacity
These 2 ports were all protected by
water resistant flap.
Lastly at the bottom, we can find passive radiator
(with Lenyes branded/logo printed on it),
which can help boost the bass the performance
unfortunately tho, there is no 3.5 mm
jack connection here
The speaker is equipped with a large,
2200 mAh battery
sorry for the lame tone, but yes
it’s 2200 mAh battery…
and this is almost as huge as some smartphones’
battery capacity out there.
But honestly this comes with no surprise at all,
given that the speaker is equipped with 15W driver which
of course consumes fair amount of power
It takes 3 hrs to recharge the battery from 0-100%,
and based on the guide book, the speaker is claimed
to be able to last for a minimum 10 hours of continuous
music playtime on a single charge,
some others claimed the Lenyes S805 can last up
to 20 hours.
Based on my own testing, playing music continously
at 50% volume, I got result of
25 hours and 28 minutes!…Wow!
This speaker’s battery lasts much longer than other speakers
I prevously reviewed in this channel
Moving to connectivity, Lenyes S805 comes with
bluetooth 5.0 on deck
this also can be paired with another Lenyes S805 speakers
to create what is called true wireless stereo sound mode,
[you can hear it yourself through provided audio samples later]
and I can surely hear the stereo separation these speakers
create while being in this TWS mode
Simply tap the power button 2x, and wait until the LED light
changes from flashing/blinking yellow to a solid one.
Solid yellow LED means two Lenyes S805 speakers have
been successfully paired to each other.
This speaker also comes with NFC,
(Near Field Communication)
Basically if you have NFC-equipped devices,
just turn your device NFC on, and then
put your device on top of the speaker, and wait
for 1 or 2 secs, and Boom!
your device is automatically paired and connected to
the speaker (via bluetooth).
As for the speaker’s bluetooth performance itself, I’ve
got no problem at all while using this with my Galaxy Note 9
or my iPad pro
Fyi, Lenyes S805 only support SBC audio codec
Streaming videos in both Netflix and youtube has been good
so far, and I’ve got no noticeable delay at all,
in both Android and iPad OS.
Regarding maximum achievable linear distance between
the speaker and the audio source at outdoor scenario
I was able to achieve up to 80 meter coverage.
Which is good enough already for a bluetooth 5.0
and as what I previously mentioned, there is also
micro SD card slot which reads up to 64 GB micro SD card
just think about it! the speaker packs so much in terms of
connectivity alone.. especially for IDR 200k-ish bluetooth speaker.

The only one which is missing here, is the 3.5 mm jack.
Ok guys, before moving into audio assessment, as usual,
we will listen first to some audio samples that I provide here
so that you can hear it yourself how the speaker sounds.
I strongly advise you to use your earphone or headphone
if you have one, and so that you can hear more detail
of this Lenyes S805 audio output
Especially, I used dedicated mic that hopefully can help
give you 3D-like audio as closer-to-reality as possible
Without any further do, here we go!
[use your headphone/earphone for better and more
accurate listening experience]
Eh! how was it guys? Have you listened
to this Lenyes’ S805 audio output?
Do you guys like this speaker’s audio, or not?
Kindly comment down below, I wanna hear from you guys
about your opinion on this speaker’s audio
As for my personal opinion, starting with volume,
this speaker gets loud enough already for me
In my 4×3 meter room, blasting this speaker at
50%-60% volume has been loud enough so far.
The loudness of this speaker’s output actually
is not surprising due to it having 15W driver.
To compare, the JBL Go 2 and Sony SRS XB01 that
I previously reviewed “only” comes with 3W driver.
So overall, volume-wise, I’m sure this speaker’s output
is enough to fill most small to medium size rooms,
or even in certain outdoor use.
moreover this can get almost twice louder if use two
speakers paired to each other at the same time
in True Wireless Stereo Mode. This would help
provide good stereo separation as well
Moving to audio, this speaker is no doubt to be more
on the bassier side.
For IDR 200k speakers and for its size,
the bass can hit the very deep end.
quite sure that the passive radiator here helps
boost this speaker’s bass performance,
especially when the speaker’s position is standing
like this.
The speaker will easily suit those who love bassy EDM,
hiphop, future bass, pop genres or other bassy tracks.
One note though, while its bass can hit ” very deep part of
the frequency range”, the bass can sound rumbling and resonating too
And this might not suit those who are audiophile,or those who
love a “very clean” and more neutral sound. to be frank.
However on the other side, I’m sure most bassheads will
appreciate this kind of rumbling, resonating type of bass.
So in my humble opinion, it’s all only
about personal preference.
Moving into mid frequency, fresh from the box, the mid and
high frequency of this speaker sounded kind of muffled and muted
After few hours or burn-in, the mid and the high get better though,
and sounded far less muffled. (perhaps this only happened to my product)
But in heavy-bassy tracks, I still felt the mid freq (especially
the lower mid) was still affected by the upper bass.
another catch tho for the mid frequency, especially vocal,
both male and female voices – I feel that
the vocal output is kind of lack of some “color” and detail
that usually makes a singer voice unique and stand out.
This is not something that I found while testing JBL
Go 2 or Sony SRS-XB01.
Those two speakers, hands down, provide a tad clearer and
overall-better mid and high frequency compared to Lenyes S805.
So yeah, the mid frequency of this speaker could use with more
alive sounding, in my opinion, but it is what it is.
Just like the mid frequency, High frequency sound such as snare,
cymbal, percussion and high female voices especially SS-eshh
sound less sharp and less detail than what I’ve would like.
But on the positive side, in songs with complex high
frequency such as those with tight cymbal or snare sounds,
or songs with many overlappings between their
upper-mid and high frequency,
on those cases, this speaker can play it safe without
causing any ear-tingling
the one thing that I often experience when playing that
type of songs using my Sony SRS-XB01 or JBL Go 2.
Moving on, due to this speaker’s 360 degree audio
direction design, the speaker sounds less direct
compared to many other speakers whose driver(s) is
positioned to face certain direction
As an illustration, based on my hearing, the most
detail mid frequency output comes from here
while the most detail high frequency output
comes from here.
Like there is certain proportion of how some of the
audio frequency ranges are output
There are some audio separations especially while playing
songs with not so many/complex instruments composition
But just like many other bluetooth speakers in
this price range, there is still no
audio visualization/depiction on where each instrument
or vocal is coming from
Overall, this speaker is one of the few that can easily
give you “the most bang for your money”.
with only IDR 230k (USD 16) you get so
many features under the hood :
Various connectivity features such as bluetooth 5,
NFC, micro SD card slot
great build material for the price, not to mention
it’s also IPX6 water resistant rating
huge, long-lasting battery, powerful 15W driver
that produces loud output volume.
As for the audio itself, its main selling points
are more for “entertaining & fun” use with very deep bass,
and the audio may not suit audiophiles’ ears.
So does this speaker get my recommendation?
For me personally, a solid YES.
Moreover considering its pricetag,
its value for money is quite high
The only complaints I have for this speaker are the mid
and high freq audio detail which I think could be tuned better
and the missing 3.5 mm jack.
However once again, for the price this is offered at,
and for the features this thing brings, I can accept it. No prob.
And kindly support my channel guys, especially
