Luca (2021) – Movie Review

the spirit of summer is brought to life
beautifully in the latest pixar animated
feature
luca held by first time director enrico
casarosa
the movie marks the city’s second film
to debut exclusively on disney plus
following souls moved to the streaming
platform last december
and much like that with our film it’s
also received a teacher release
in those territories where disney plus
is currently unavailable
hi guys michael avayami here and today
i’m reviewing luka
set on the bright shots of the italian
riviera the film centers upon luka
the young sea creature who spends much
of his life in fear of living in his
underwater home
but after he crosses paths is a fellow
secretary named proto
he comes to discover that they actually
have about the ability to transform to
humans
once they leave the water this opens up
a world of possibility for luka
except he is torn between his curiosity
and the ones of his
protective mother with our brother’s
help he learns to overcome his spirit as
he sets off on an adventure to explore
the neighboring town together
but as they soon come to find out not
everything above water

/> is as well coming as it seems luca is a
coming-of-age story
with plenty of hearts the film is
beautifully animated as is typically the
case with this pixel and metal films
but what really says this one apart is
how perfectly it captures the spirit of
summer
from the deep blues of the sky and ocean
to the cobblestone terrain of the
italian town
the movie looks like a postcard brought
to life
the voice class is also deserving of
praise with jacob tremblay once again
delivering another heartfelt performance
and speaking of heartfelt the film is
all about guaranteed to hit you in the
fields
but in a positive way that the studio
seems to know how to do so well
it might not quite rise at the same
level of brilliance as their older
classics like wally or open
but that shouldn’t really take away from
the overall quality of the execution
look at johnny’s boots onward and so as
yet another one from pixar animation
studios
during the so-called pandemic era that
all three aforementioned films are
original productions
points to the sheer level of creativity
still alive at the studio today
the alicia film deserves to be on any
list of more sea summer movies
and whether i choose to see it in
theaters at home the movie is sure to
fill you with all the ones that magic
that only the wizard of pixar know how
to conjure i’ll give the film
an 8 out of 10.
have you had a chance to watch luca what
