My Mascara Collection / Besame Cake Mascara Review

Today’s video is on my mascara
collection. I have two mascaras.
They’re pretty much the same mascara,
one’s in brown and one’s in black. They are
the besame cake mascara. First on the list is
the packaging, The real reason I wanted to get
them. It’s the packaging, and the whole vintage
appeal. I like to pretend that I live in the 1950s
or sometime thereabout. And having makeup that
can be from that time helps with the illusion.
I love that this mascara is how mascara would have
been a hundred years ago. I love that it’s in a
little tin with a little mascara brush like I’ve
seen in videos, I’ve seen in the vintage videos
the uh little mascara brush that is completely not
how mascaras are now. I love the packaging it’s
from the 1920s it’s metal it’s perfect. I love the
things now let’s get on to putting on the mascara.
I will first show you the black mascara. I got
the black mascara first. I like to put water in
it. So this is what it looks like inside, and then
I spray- I spray some water in it, take the brush
dip the brush in it, get the brush coated in the
mascara. I’m gonna have to use my handy dandy

/> makeup box mirror again. I see a reoccurring
theme here.I’m going to try- I’ll try to get close
I like to do- I’ve seen it in a
video before you do the flat part
against your lashes. Not the thin part
just the flat, the flat of the brush.
Anyways that’s the black and I don’t know if
you can see a difference between each eye y.et
I sure can. The black is rather
fluffy fluffery fluttery.
And then I do- I can do the same thing with
the brown except that I’m out of water.
Onto how they did it in the olden days. It’s
spit it works. “Spit it works” it’s a great
theme? Logo? Motto! It’s a motto
Try to get it up close.Till I’m out of frame.
And that’s the brown side. It’s a very faint,
hardly there, I don’t like mascara to be
all the way there. So that’s that. I can also
show you… You can use it as a liner. I have a
handy dandy besame liner
brush. Get it wet and dip it in
the mascara. I’m not going to apply it on my eye
but I’m going to try to see if I can apply it
on my hand how you can see it. It’s
a- it makes lines you can line your…
Line your eyes. That’s what you do, you line
your eyes. That’s what liner’s for for lining
eyes. So that’s that’s the black one. I
probably should have done the light one
first since I’m using the same brush. but I’ll
try to clean off the brush as much as possible
to do the brown one. So I can show you what the
brown one looks like. The brown one’s way lighter
than the black. Most of the time brown mascara
is like a brown black this is like a brown brown
which I appreciate. Let’s
see if I can show you it.
It’s kind of there. Anyways you can line your eye
with it. Put it on your eye line, line up your
eye. I don’t line my eyes hardly ever. When I’m
on stage though I line my eyes because
that’s what my directors tell me to do.
I also like to put the brown one in my
eyebrows because that is a possibility.
Just sometimes I do that, sometimes I don’t.
Then I take my spoolie I use for my eye brows
and blend it in. So that’s the mascaras applied.
You can see. Now I have to remember which eye..
Okay, this one is the black and this one is the
brown. Do my eyelashes look nice and fluttery?
Can I blink my eyes.. Can I blink my
eyes anymore? That’s them applied.
Now there are some points that I’ve been planning
to make. because when I had nothing to do this
morning -because I can only film when my roommate
is out of the room- I wrote out what I wanted to
film because you need something to film in order
to film. I mean you don’t, but when you’re bored
you do. Let me wipe these swatches off. It’s
gonna probably mimic how the wearing would go…
Not really. Anyways they’re
wearing pretty good. Now it’s wet
And the mascara is gone because it’s water
activated. You get it wet it’s completely
wet. So how does it wear? The brown wears
beautifully I’ve never found any smudging
anything it’s just on there. And then when
I take it off at night it doesn’t even give
me raccoon eyes it’s such a light color. The
black on the other hand when I’ve been wearing
it for a very very long time I sometimes
get smudges like underneath my eye here.
And one time I was watching a sad movie so I
was bawling and crying and I tried to wipe-
wipe it so it goes up instead of like all down my
face. So it smudges. The brown probably smudges
too it’s just not as noticeable because it’s not
black it’s very light brown. It’s not bulletproof
waterproof anything proof it doesn’t do anything
like that but I’ve worn like both of them to like
church or play rehearsal and they wear perfectly
through that. When I have very long days I spend a
lot of time taking naps or in my bed when you rub
a pillow and so that’s when the mascara smudges.
But I wear them both just regular use not
smudging or crying or whatever and they wear fine.
Now how long will it last. This is the good
thing. The nice thing about it one of these
-I mean depending on your use, if you
use it up.- but normal mascara lasts
six months that’s what it says but this
lasts 24 months and that’s because it’s
not wet so there’s nothing for the bacteria to
grow on like there is in tube mascaras. And so
it can last for two years. It’ll be christmas
I’ll have had this for two years and I’ve hardly
made a dent in it. But that’s because
I hardly wear mascara. I wear it maybe
maybe once a week more like twice a month. I wear
it about twice a month. When I feel like it. How
am I supposed to know when I feel like wearing
mascara? I don’t always feel like wearing mascara.
Now the price: They cost
about twenty five dollars each
and I guess with shipping
that could be thirty dollars.
um Which is more expensive than any other mascara
I would have ever bought and more expensive than
-I don’t know- maybelline great lash. Which I’ve
had before and it’s fun and it’s nice and it’s
vintagey. I mean, not as vintage as this. So
it’s fun to have but i hardly use it. and then
six months happens and I throw it away because
I don’t want bacteria on my eyelashes. At least
that’s what I hear happens if you keep it longer
than that. Because they last such a long time I
think the price is justifiable because they last
two years. So what’s twenty five divided by two?
I don’t know, twelve point five? Twelve
dollars and fifty cents a year on mascara.
That’s pretty nice plus then you don’t ever
have to go- That’s easier way to save money
than to just not have mascara. because
then you have mascara whenever I feel like
wearing mascara. My final thoughts: I don’t
think these are the most amazing going to make
your lashes look like fake lashes mascaras. They
aren’t the most innovative and exciting thing.
They darken your lashes, maybe
make them look a bit longer,
and that’s it. But I do know that they’re the
perfect mascara for me because I know that-
I know what I want in a mascara and
this is it. That’s all for now bye!
