Review – Comica Traxshot Transformation Stereo On-Camera Microphone

I think the most outstanding feature
of the Comica Traxshot on-camera microphone
is the fact that it’s Transformable.
We are out here testing how effective this could be
when you are trying to record a stereo sound.
So I recommend you watch this with your headphone on.
So I recommend you watch this with your headphone on.
I can use it as a typical on-Camera Shotgun mic
or transform it into a 30 degree or 90 degree stereo mic,
or a 2-way super Cardioid microphone.
We will look into the applications in a moment.
A quick tour on some of its major features.
It’s rechargeable,
Frequency response from 20hz-20khz,
Compatible with cameras & mobile phones.
Air-float Shock-absorption design,
Signal to noise ratio is 60.
And for microphones, the closer the number to 100, the
lesser the self noise.
And amongst my Shotgun microphone,
this is not the best in this regard.
But we are going to test this in a moment.
And according to the specifications,
this also have an internal windproof design.
A lot of users of this microphone will be using it for
vlogging,
shooting outdoors.
So I thought to come out here to try this Mic
and to see how

well the internal windproof design works.
This is my Synco D30 on-Camera Shotgun microphone,
selling for about $159.
Whereas this is selling for about $179.
But then again, this is a mono microphone
and this is a stereo mic.
But for this test,
I am trying to see how well
the windproof design of the Comica Traxshot
supercedes the Synco D30.
Now we’ve quickly switched to the Synco D30
and we are actually checking to see if
the Traxshot by Comica has better resistance to wind noise
compared to the Synco D30.
Also an opportunity to check which one has a better sound
reproduction,
and also checking for noise floor,
how the various mics separates my voice from the ambient
noise.
On the body is
A LED screen where you see your battery level, mode & your
level,
A mode button
Power & a low cut filter button
A Step-less Gain control wheel.
So you are not forced to choose between pre-configured
volume levels.
USB-C port for recharging & firmware upgrade.
Audio Out,
and on the other side is a Headphone out.
Lovely to see how alot of microphone manufacturers these
days
incorporate a dedicated headphone port in their systems.
This solves the issue with some cameras without headphone
port, like my Sony a6400.
So we are testing the Comica Traxshot as a 2-way microphone.
So Daizee, what do you think of this setup?
It’s a real cool setup.
For the fact that it’s a stereo microphone,
and you can easily edit each microphone independently in
post.
I think this also give ideas
for a more robust professional 2 way Shotgun microphone for movie dialogue.

In the box is a user manual,
I can see a Comica card,
the microphone,
a USB-C cable,
a TRS-TRS audio cable,
a TRS-TRRS audio cable for use with mobile phones,
A fury wind screen to help you eliminate wind noise in
extreme conditions,
and they all fit into this nice looking soft carrying case.
And it sells for $179.
You’ve heard the sound and you can be the judge.
I have microphones that cost less than this Mic that sounds
pretty good.
But my preference for this microphone is that it’s
Transformable.
Opening more usage and possibilities.
It’s about the process of filmmaking over here at BTS-GRAM.
