Toy Story 3: The Video Game review by Sailor Rupert (Xbox 360)

[Music]
the game that shows that games based on
the movie license may not be such a bad
idea after all
this is Toy Story 3 the videogame
perhaps the roundabout underrated games
and hidden gems first order 3 the
videogame turned up quite a lot in the
conversation but honestly it’s a game
based on a movie I’ll go to could it be
pretty damn good it turned out first
order 3 the videogame is basically two
games in one a story-driven 3d
platformer and an open-world sandbox
game if you have played avalanche
software’s latest DS T infinity games
you will feel right at home since this
is basically a forerunner to the Disney
infinity games it’s a smaller more focus
Disney infinity focusing solely on the
Toy Story universe and this is what
makes Toy Story 3 the video games so
great it really feels like Toy Story
you’re not playing as some sheep
look-alikes you are playing as Woody
Buzz Lightyear and Jesse the toy box
mode is where the game truly shines it’s
so full of fun but the story mode
however is not quite as entertaining a
good thing is that

the story mode isn’t
just the movies big scenes turn into
levels the game takes for granted you’ve
seen the movie and each level delivers a
side mission so to speak to the movie
stuff that has not shown in the movie
but happens around the main story so the
best way to experience the game is
probably to do what I did
re watch the movie and then jump right
into the game Toy Story 3 the BG game is
meant to be something extra something
special a friendly companion to the
movies like buying a set of luxury toys
based on the movie and it works very
well the levels in the story mode are
surprisingly uncompromising there’s a
lot of checkpoints that are nice in
systems you won’t actually get stuck but
I died again and again platformers that
focus on discovery mood and puzzles are
usually more forgiving than platformers
that focus on skill and tough obstacles
but if you jump one millimeter wrong in
this game you
it doesn’t feel quite right for a
laid-back game like this to be least
unforgiving to say the least a few hours
the story mode lasts is varied and
entertaining not I absolutely have to
play more of this entertaining but I
paid for this and I kind of enjoy
playing this entertaining but the toy
box mode ah the toy box mode now that’s
a different matter altogether it’s
incredibly fun the open-world sandbox
mode is the big draw of this game and it
sure is a part it’s great fun to roam
around in this vest on town and all its
trains outskirts and do missions trials
and assignments it’s not a revolutionary
game in any way but it does everything
right the world is colorful alive and
inviting okay some mission have
descriptions that could have been easier
to understand and there’s no map so
sometimes you have no real idea what
you’re supposed to do you stand arrow
pointing you in some general direction
but these occasions are few and far
between 95% of the time it’s a gaming
party when you buy new houses and new
citizens for your town and you do all
the asila missions you can even redesign
the houses and your citizens the way you
want them or just kick the citizens
around you can also play the game in two
players split-screen
great for family and friends of course
first or you think the video game is a
short and sweet game that is not meant
to stand on its own it’s meant to be
something extra something special for
the fans of the movies but on the other
hand who doesn’t love Toy Story the good
toy box mode is great fun captures that
special Toy Story feeling Woody Buzz
Lightyear and Jesse are all playable
story mode adds to the movement rather
than rehash it lots of variation the bad
story mode is a bit too punishing no map
makes the open-world a bit confusing at
times almost too much stuff to collect
when all is said and done I give Toy
Story 3 the mini game 7 out of 10
the toy box mode is great fun and the
story mode while unnecessarily punishing
is not a waste of your time
and the game has that special Toy Story
filled it’s the real Toy Story
characters living in a real toy store
the world of imagination the very thing
that every licensed game should deliver
but they really do thank you’re watching
I will see you in a next review
