Unboxing the New Macbook Pro 16 Inch 2021: A Review & Why I Love It for Daily Content Creation

hey guys welcome back to my youtube
channel in today’s youtube video we are
going to unbox
the all-new macbook pro 16-inch
2021 computer and i’m going to show you
what it’s like so my husband actually
bought this as a birthday gift for me
february 10th
of this year and i’ve been waiting to
unbox it because i want to do it on my
youtube channel
and that has been so hard this computer
was about four thousand dollars
and we went all out with the bells and
the whistles because
i am a crazy content creator i write and
publish a book every year
i also ghost write books on a regular
basis i run a writing agency i
youtube the amount of content i do in a
week is a little bit insane
i switched over from windows probably
about seven years ago and i’ve never
looked back macbooks have so many more
pluses than windows and i started my
business while using a windows
so i’m going from the 15 inch macbook
pro 2018
version to the 16 inch brand new macbook
pro 2021
now this does not have the m1 the apple
in-house
chip this one has the 8 core intel core
i9 the reason for that was because
memory with the m1 ship is limited
you get 16 gigs of memory i wanted 64
gigabytes
so that means the downside of this

more
expensive macbook is a lot less battery
life
but i had to weigh the pros and cons and
i need more space
between creating video content on a
regular basis and writing the amount of
content i do
my 2018 macbook was starting to freeze
up and that’s a 3 000
computer all right let’s get into it

so
this is a heavy computer guys this
weighs a lot
so size difference it’s already
a little bit bigger than my previous
computer but not by a ton
so i’m gonna switch these out here
let’s get this baby up and running
so we’re in the middle of trying to set
it up and this is what happens when i
have a really bogged down computer
and it’s been going for yeah it’s still
frozen
and it’s been going for about three or
four years because i got that in 2018.
this is what happens you guys so i’m in
the middle of setting up the migration
assistant
which is amazing because that means you
can transfer data from computer to
computer
over the internet and you don’t have to
do anything and by the end of it
your new computer looks just like your
old one so
that’s an amazing thing that apple does
migration assistant but my
old computer is frozen and it’s been
frozen for about 10 minutes
so this is what happens whenever i get a
new computer my old computer
is so clogged with data and content just
me guys
hopefully it’s not that it stops working
very well
so i just had to restart the computer
come on little status bar come on

so it’s 4 30 about two hours later and
it says 30 minutes left
my kid came home my kid came home from
school
we’re upstairs making pizza so hopefully
after dinner i’ll be able to
break this computer out and play with it
so excited
so it’s 5 30 and migration finally just
completed
the computer’s restarting
and there’s a minute left and we get to
play with it
i’m upstairs working up here now and i
just wanted to hop
on and share with you a few of the
benefits that i’m finding out about this
new macbook pro
so you can make the decision if it’s
right for you and there are a few
incredible things that i’m learning
just in the last hour and a half that
i’ve worked on it

so first of all this is my upstairs
setup you might have seen this in blogs
but this is where i work most of the
time because of that
amazing killer view that we have of the
lake and the trees
which definitely increases productivity
i have a stand-up desk it’s a manual
crank
so i’m not tied into the wall i can move
it all around it’s on wheels
and i have an ergonomic chair for
whenever i do sit down
that’s a really awesome chair with all
the lumbar neck support
and then i have a split keyboard this is
the kinesis freestyle 2 for mac
you can put these down these are lifters
put them down or just have it standing
up for wrist and palm support and then i
have this vertical mouse from logitech
which is equally as amazing but let’s
talk about this amazing beast of a
computer
so i noticed that i filled up about 592
gigabytes
of storage the majority of these are
documents 280.
then we have 50 gigabytes of photos 13
gigabytes of apps
and so on and i probably just need to go
through hit manage
and optimize reduce clutter and all that
good stuff so i’ll be doing that
soon but that’s not too bad because i
have
quite a bit of space available about the
same amount of space
is available so i’m liking that so far
and i have a ton of data guys like i am
i am a data hog because of all the
content that i produce
so that really isn’t terrible so right
now i’m running
two different files and then i’m about
gosh i don’t know 80 different chrome
tabs
i was uploading entrepreneur articles in
the back end of
entrepreneur i write i’m a columnist
there and then i was talking to my staff
on slack as i’m clicking between tabs
this is pretty crazy there’s no
load time and i’m like what
everything is is loaded and it’s it’s
pretty wild
i am not used to that guys usually it
takes like a few seconds for things to
load right
so i am just like in awe about that fact
even if i open an app like everything is
here it’s loaded
it’s working and um each of these files
you can see
here in the finder they’re four
gigabytes
each per file so these i use camtasia
pro to edit my youtube files that’s what
i’m currently doing
right after i get it i air drop it from
my phone
over to my macbook and then i edit it so
i have two episodes going at once which
before now was pretty impossible my
computer would eventually freeze up
and all of my chrome tabs would either
crash or just
like not even be available and i’m just
shocked about this you guys the load
time see that that was like less than a
second and these are tasks that have
been sitting here
you know for a while so i’m able to work
on
two episodes at once each of which are
about four gigabytes of raw data
and i am in awe about how easy it is to
work nothing’s freezing i can go as fast
or slow as i want
and i’m working and yeah like
nothing’s freezing at all another thing
i really liked i usually
um install an app called flux
i don’t know if you guys have heard
about it
it’s a free app and what it does is it
adjusts your color temperature on your
computer
depending on the time of day it is and
it makes your eyes adjust
to the light and it’s really good for
your eyes but i actually uninstalled it
because the retina display on this mac
already has some of this built into it
and flux did not look good at all
it looked terrible so i completely
uninstalled that program
that software got off my computer and i
don’t think i’ll need it because
the retina display has something called
true tone

so i actually did some research and i
found it
under system preferences you have
looks like i have to activate it and
this computer did come with the touch id
so i set that up so this does come with
a built-in display i can also choose to
make it more warm
less warm see how that’s changing to
cold
so i really like that i’m probably going
to make it more warm because
this protects your eyes so much it’s
like the whole blue light thing
so you don’t want to be looking at blue
light all the time especially before bed
so i’m going to make sure that that’s
checked and it looks like i don’t need
an extra app
because true tone display does that for
me
it’s going to protect our eyes and
adjust the lighting
so i’m just amazed like how quickly you
see that the load time is
normally my other computer my macbook
pro 2018
things were taking a minute to load
so i’m really amazed to see this
and how fast it is i mean it’s just it’s
incredible
to open look at that lightning fast guys
apple did an amazing job with this
computer and this is the intel chip
so you’ll have to let me know in the
comments if you have the m1 chip i was
really curious about that one but i
really wanted this memory and the
storage space which you don’t get with
the m1 chip
very very thrilled about this computer
and this purchase
and i’ll be putting it to good use in
the days to come for sure
