Watch: TODAY All Day – Oct. 3

passion for music at his very core in his dad. Country singer Rhett Akins have worked on music together since Thomas was just a little boy. His love of music is carried him all the way to where he is right now. Thomas. His wife, Lauren, and I’ve been friendly for years. But recently we’ve connected on more than just music. We’re also parents by where the action Thomas and Lauren brought their beautiful daughter Willa Gray home nearly 7 years ago. And they’ve gone on to welcome 3 more dogs to their camp to James Land in Love and

Lily Carolina between recording touring in parenting. It’s kind of tough for Thomas to make space for much, but I did catch up with him for a rare moment of quiet from his home in Nashville just as he’s getting ready to release his 6th studio album where we started and among the many topics we touched on. >> Where he start stories that make me appreciate Thomas and his music even more. >> Well, first of all, Thomas, it’s great to see you as always. How are you? Good to see you, too, and doing well doing well. So,

Thomas, I I feel like you’re you’re really going 100 miles an hour and I admire it because we often say this is my moment. I got to catch it. It’s like lightning

in a bottle. I don’t want to miss it. But if you were to have a day, that was just for you again, Lauren, in the kids side, you have an open book. I U.S. blank slate for one day. Yeah. How does that they play out for you? >> I think I would first of all have to get on a plane. I have a hard

time finding peace in Nashville, but I’ve I’ve found a lot of peace and solitude out west, whether it’s in Montana or Utah, Colorado. And I think a perfect day for me would be to take my fly fishing rod out to the Boulder River in Montana and just waited the entire day. Just like start at the bottom to the top. Don’t even care if I catch fish are not just the the simple act of throwing a rod in and out of the river. I think like that. That is the epitome of my perfect alone day, which

I’ve not had an 11 day, I think in almost 5 years. >> So at least I just got away. So what is it that you get out of being by yourself and throwing that rod, like what feelings do you get from that? >> There’s no one to compare myself to except for myself. I think as awesome as social media can be, I think I think it ruins a lot of people. And I’m I’m in that box. And I think I mean, she I guess I’ve had social media from us 10 years now. And I feel

like every time a log on to my Instagram account. Get this like really quick little rush of like, oh, my goodness. What is someone say about my song what they say about this? But then I see one negative thing in like my day. Just like real. And you know, saying so when it when I do like get to put my phone down for 5 or 6 hours, a fine, my anxiety level, just going right down and down and down and down. Now, I do have 4 kids. So the anxiety does stay at a little right

here. But I just like the more that I can detach from the overload of information. You know me like I just don’t feel like we as humans are built to absorb and you absorb more knowledge any by that. I know every day and like I just don’t know that we’re meant to know as much as we know. I think we’re not when I’m away from anything social or news was like, yeah, I’m a better dad. I’m a better husband. I’m a better friend because there is space to give that part of myself. >> Where you

your happiest? I think I was in a strange way happier at my core when I felt like I wasn’t under a microscope that makes any sense. I know, you know, you can relate to that. But like would that change anything that I have for the world? No, but there are days we do. You kind of wish you could just be you at the core, no matter what, no matter what restaurant you’re in the matter if your Disney World, you know, saying like it’s a it’s that that has changed a lot. And I have learned how

to find joy, a ton like through through, quote, unquote, being famous or being in the spotlight. But there does seem to be something so simple. I don’t know about being in high school or the being college. And so, you know, I think that’s that’s something that Laura and I both try to create in our lives is simplicity and and normalcy. You know, a lot of people always asked how we’re raising our kids and we’re trying to raise in his normal as humanly possible, which is really challenging because our lives are anything but normal. You know,

good. But I think striving for simplicity has brought Lauren and I and our kids the most joy that we had imagined. long time ago, when you’re just getting started 2 right now, you are. I mean, you seem exactly the same to me. I can still drug FaceTime. You and you pick up, which is my my litmus test. That’s my favorite part of my week. I’ll be honest. I don’t do it every week, but I do. It often know I I don’t people think of the stalker. Haha. >> Movie Lauren Love it so much. And I

would say the same about, you know, I mean, not that this is like a complement back and forth type thing, but it is very, very true. Like you are one of the most down to Earth people that I’ve ever met, especially with the year for the world every single day. And so when I when I described my my being under microscope, you are a million times more than that. But I remember when Lauren and I first got married, we I mean, I think I maybe had 500 bucks to my name. And my dad had just

bought a condo. And I told him like we can’t pay rent. And so he just made us pay the Hla fee, which is like $45 a month. And even that hurt as our first Christmas as a married couple. I just signed a record deal and we lived across the street from a a Harris Teeter, which I don’t if you have this there, but it’s like grocery store and like I’m talking about 5 nights a week we would buy a frozen of wine we could find and likee and we go to the Christmas tree lot and

a member, Lauren, I was like, wow, we just got tougher. Can target and buy, you know, $9, fake Christmas tree. And she’s like, well, because I’ve always had a real one. And Christmas trees are like 70 bucks. You know, I mean, a tree is $70. And I remember calling my business manager at the time and I can afford this. We went back and put a Christmas tree up and made a frozen pizza and had a bottle won and you and talk about content yet proud that we had accomplished that. >> But un Lauren met when

you were little and then ended up getting married after you guys have lived a little bit. You or you go are both young and people are telling you what are you doing? Like 22 or some? Yeah, we were. 22. We got married for sure. Yeah. Did everyone who tried to talk out >> I don’t think it was like talking out of it was more of it? dislike. Make sure make sure your main, which is which is normal. You know, I think for a parent to say to a kid like I might say the same thing,

you know that if my daughters are like, hey, I’m 17 found a guy want to marry him like, are you sure? You know 10, but I can also be like, you know what, if that’s your heart, that’s what you believe like here to support you. You know, they were sure. And she was sure they were sure. But we also knew each other for since like 3rd grade. You know, I mean, like she knew me as a 6th grader has a 10th grader as an idiot in college. When she she she was with me through every

every up and down phase of life. And so when we got married, we were already best friends anyway. And they, you know, parents always said, make sure you make the best friend, you know, and I was like, well, inning, this is is my best friend. And she is very attractive. And I’m I’m I’m here for it. And but, you know, I think like at that time it wasn’t super cool to be married and be a a country singer. You know, I mean and I just thought that was the stupidest thing in the world. Yeah. Yeah.

And it was kind of weird like at the time I guess what in 2012 inning there are love songs. But like that, there weren’t. There weren’t like a lot of love songs about like from a from a country singer being let you all know who this is. And this is some singing about this. I was, you know, her from the get go of my career. Lauren was just such a part of me were a package deal. You know, I mean why she came that she was every show. The fans knew her. Everybody knew her. And

so when died, the man came out like, yeah, I think the so I think that a man is good. But I think that it was great at the time because it hadn’t been done in a while and that way. It was almost like the stars kind of lined up for that song. >> Your parents are divorced. You know, you scared getting married. Did you think our patterns today repeat, like, were you worried? >> Yeah, I mean, there’s a part of me that was just like is is that we need to, you know, I’m saying, like

you remember, you know, Lauren’s dad, he flies like a jets for a living accounts like a charter company in Nashville. And, you know, the 90’s, he would fly, you know, you you name that country artist the flume around. And so he’s been around the business for a while. A member of forming long got married. He was like, you better keep your head on straight, you know? And he was like you, but you better not do anything out there on the road because I promise you have seen it and I will call you out immediately and

was like, you know, anything to worry about, you know, and yeah, but as I got into it, I quickly realized how easy that could be. Yeah, without the right boundaries. >> Put in place. Did your parents give you advice like a >> Yeah, for sure. But you know, like, you know, a thing vice? like my dad, my mom, we’re different. They they kind of came from that generation of like, you know, they got pregnant before they were married in South Georgia. It was like one of those times in life was like what? We should probably

get married. Yeah, I mean, but I think kind of early on, you know, I think my dad really wanted. I think you had more life that he wanted to live in. And, you know, I think him looking back like those are things that he may not be I’m proud of. But like you, that’s this is life. You know, we live. We live and we learn and, you know, I’m like I got really blessed with with an amazing family that has that has baggage just like we all do. >> When do you think your dad was

proudest of you? >> I think he may just be proud of how I have approached this career. I think he writes of people all the time to go, man, how Gerson turn out so good. You know, I mean, it’s it’s kind of a joke, but I think he, you know, he kind of gets like, you know, my my dad was it was pretty wild, you know, back in the day. And I’ve definitely had my fair share of wild moments. But I knew that when I when I got married like this was this was the goal.

If everything else fell apart. Yeah, this this had to stay together and that that is that is what I vowed that I got married. And that is what I that’s what I plan on, you know, committing to until the the data data. your priority list, the way you went about it was obviously very interesting. Laura was on a mission trip to Uganda. Yeah, and fell in love basically. I mean, that’s just that’s just how it happened. So she met Willow. What was it about her about that specific child of all the children? Yeah, Lauren met

and and you got to know what was it about her? >> Yeah, you know, that was such a crazy time because my wife up to that point had had traveled with me and they solely, you know, maybe she kind of she kind of gave up a lot, too, to be a long my side. You know, during this journey, men, she went to the University of Tennessee, graduated with a nursing degree nursing school about killed or as I’m sure many, many nurses out there is freaking hard. But she finished that and we went into marriage counseling

and our marriage counselor said, I think you need to be fully together your first year on the road because the year that she graduated, I went on this thing called Ready Tour, which is where you’re gone for, like 8 months. And you’re literally visiting every country radio station in the country. So if she had gone to work in the hospital and I’ve gone to do that our first year, marriage would have been completely to split apart. And so she decided to come with me that whole first year and that led into the next, you know,

5 years or marriage. I don’t think my wife ever planned on marrying someone that was doing what I’m doing like I think that she could have picked at that age. She probably would pick someone that was going to the home at 5 o’clock. You know, I mean, and she probably would have lived a whole lot simpler of a life. Had she done that. And but there was no denying, you know, our love for each other. And to this day, I mean, I just I literally just look at and say thank you, thank you for marrying

me because I would be a total disaster. I wrote a song last year called out be a nightmare single and it is very true. Anyway, back to your question. That was when she had met a few people that were already doing work and Uganda. And I think my wife at that point had felt a little bit passion list, if you will. I think I think she felt like her passions had to be my passions to. And so we had a that was like a year of like a long conversation about what you know, what, what

is your passion? And she’s like why I still want to help people medically, you know, like I want to I want to use the skill that up train so hard for housing with that 100% understandable as figure that out, you know, and kind of a God thing that she met, this woman named Suzanne, who was already doing ministry in and mission work in Uganda. And Lauren went with her. And I was still back in America, you know, doing shows. And remember, she sent me a picture of this little girl and in Uganda they had they

named her blessing. That was that was the name that they gave her. She didn’t have any parents and and no no siblings that we knew of. And she sent me a picture of her holding blessing. And she said we have got to help. You have find her family or find find her a home. And, you know, they did a ton of research on, you know, where where she was found all this kind of stuff. And it was just it was heartbreaking. You know, like I can’t imagine. I don’t I want like one of my children,

just not not having a family to call him to call home, you know. And so I just I just can’t remember saying it. But it came out of my mouth as they will. What we will will bring home, you know, and my life is like a serious and next thing, you know, you know, we’re what why we so sure. What was it about that image? I just never see my wife glow the way she was glowing. I yeah, I can’t I can’t describe it. But it already felt like it was a thing. I don’t remember

saying it is to disrupt it out of my side. Just like happened. And and then, you know, we hung up the phone and I like what I just say like and because I don’t know that I was ready to be a dad yet. I don’t think anyone is ready to be a parent who you are, you know, saying our. >> That kind of makes me I’m like I I feel like whenever the truth is told like I get this weird wave of emotion like I get chills and I feel it. And that statement you just

made there was like of was like of a tidal wave. He was a God moment. He said, yeah, really, really big. So you’ve got Willa, Gray and and then Laura gets pregnant. Then you are off and running. You’ve got 4 girls now. Yeah, do want to boy. >> I think I’ve passed that point. I honestly I think that that’s like the most question I get asked like when you’re trying again. I mean, Lawrence, whole dream. She wanted to have 5 kids like that side yesterday. We’ve got major going to have 5 and I’m sitting there

going. That’s fine. You know, if I would be great. But we sit, there we go. You know, they’re all in such different phases of life. We’re having a hard time figuring out how do we make what I want? I like all of our kids, you know, so that now. So tomorrow is like a meaningless, have 5. Plus, let’s take a stake. A four-year deep. >> Yeah, exactly. She’ll get her 5 eventually. But sometimes you need a minute is, you know, I adopted 2 children. A lot of questions come up at which I’m already getting from

Haley and I will get from hope to what questions is. Will a great asking. Where are your other daughters asking and how have you guys navigated that? Because I’ve got 2 kids from different countries and you know it for sure it there. Questions of pop. >> Yeah, it’s hard, you know, because I think when you become a parent, you like love that I have all the answers, you know, or have all the answers. And like adoption is is one of those beautiful things in the world. And I don’t think at the beginning of it, you

I don’t think you go in like 6 years. An officer answering some like, really, yes, really intense questions, you know, and I think I don’t if you felt this at all, but it’s kind of like you go, what age like, what age is the ride age? I mean, because the world is moving so fast that it’s like, you know, to have a conversation with a 6 year-old about that. Maybe I’m too old school to think that way. But I got maybe we need to wait. She’s 10 and I love the innocence that they have because

they don’t have any that untainted yet. Yeah, the world have been jaded by the world like that. They don’t they don’t see things like adults see things. And so in your parent rain, you’re like, well, how do I keep this in a sense allowed as long as I possibly can as possible? Yeah, you know, because I mean, I feel like I read the Bible and God’s like, well, you if you’re not, if you don’t the heart of a child, you know, you’re doing it right. And I’m like, well, how could I have the heart of

a child? One, we’re at war and where this is happening and that’s they don’t they don’t know any of that stuff yet. You know? Yeah. And so we really just try to try to be as honest as we can without the confusion. >> And how has Thomas having 4 daughters impacted you as a husband to Lauren? >> I just had to sit back and let re prioritize my life. Yeah. You know, I’m saying like, yeah. If music was number one for the last 8 years, music is now like number 3, you know, saying, look, I

love it and I want to be great at it. But like if me being read it music makes my parenting in my husband. Roll suffer. >> Yeah. What’s it worth when I’m 50? What’s that worth? Yeah, right. You’re right. I remember interviewing you when you haven’t won the war and it was all brand new and now you’re just such a staple in such a name. What what is it like now when you stand up on the stage and the stadium is full, is it like what it was before? What does it feel like for you?

>> I still pinch myself. And I’m also I’m also a perfectionist, I think in some good ways. But mostly the fault which may be lit maybe leads back to my comparison issue because I walk out there and I go, gosh, this place holds 15,000 people. But there’s there’s 14,900 here, Mike, Where’s the other 100 at? We’re going to be like, but then I walk out there and I go Cali. It feels like yesterday that I was 21 years old and, you know, opening for whoever it was. We competitive about everything like that. You play sports

when you’re a kid. Yeah. Yeah. So you’re going to win? Very competitive. Yeah. Everything. That’s just your in your DNA. Yeah, look, I have this weird fear of just like not being the best and I don’t know where that comes from, but it but it happens in every area of my life like I can go back and remember playing I was playing monopoly with Lauren were 16 years old and she’s really good at math. And I’m real like I just learned how to tip 3 years ago and she beat me and I was like I

want to play not the monopoly with you anymore. So crazy. Even with my hobbies. Like when I when I get into a hobby. Yeah, I go hard at work. What could be a hobby? Fly fishing skiing? Yeah. Like I got to have the best equipment. I got to watch a million YouTube. I got to hire a trainer. >> We need to get into this. What is this, though? This is the ping, your psyche, our kid. >> Yeah. And like I think I’m about to go on a kind of weird 10’s of getting to a point.

I think the reason I hate so bad and like Instagram hatred or just even posting a song and so on being like this s****. Yeah. Like that should be able to roll off my back. Yeah. But it doesn’t like it sticks with me for weeks. Yeah. And I go back into my 6th grade self like I was kind of a I won’t say an outcast, but I was I just want to be different. Everybody else don’t mean like if it was cool to play football. I want to start lacrosse team. If it was cold, if

it was cold. Listen, the Backstreet Boys, I want to listen to their mountains and I was in 6th grade and mean somebody started a punk rock man. And on the night of prom, we schedule our first concert because we’re like and to from your main probably because we didn’t get asked or no one wanted to go. That was probably the real reason. But I mean, really put these flyers up in the hallway. Come to see the hill flip-flops that whoever’s house. Yeah. And there was somebody on the football team that went through the hallway and

ripped all of our flyers down and just started shred them in half. And that was the first moment that I said I will be better. I will always be a bigger person and that I’m not a crime. Talk about it. But I I don’t know if that was where my a desire to prove people wrong. So much came into play. But I I can can go back in my brain and see that so vividly. And so anytime anyone does something unique or weird or different in country music and pop music and sports and whatever, when

someone wants to tear somebody down for some light, you >> need to sit down, sit down because, yeah, I know. I know we we’ve been talking about life and it makes me so happy to just get your music because I feel like it’s evolving to you are writing songs before you were singing them up publicly. Yeah. And you still had like I was surprised at such a young age. You had so much stuff to say like I didn’t know. He lived enough life to say those things. And now they’re getting deeper even yet. But I

feel like you must have lived a lot of life even when you when you were young. >> Feel like I did. You know, like I mean, I think, you know, are like every every bit of trauma in our lives shapes us in a way, you know, whether and you get to choose for the worse, the better, you know, you know, the divorce is not a fun thing to go through, you know, as a kid and for a long time, I didn’t think it affected me until I started becoming adults and asserted pull out little bits

and pieces of how that affects me in, you know, knowing Lauren and knowing certain people are allowed to have passed away way too early, like you kind of go, well, that’s just life. But then you go no like that s**** and knocks that that affected you, you know? And yeah, I think I’ve always just been a really old. So I’m like I think I’ve always been an over thinker and thought about my future, probably way more than your average 18 or 19 year-old kid, you know. And so at a young age like I really was

trying to be older than my my driver’s license said the Yeah. Yeah. Which is good. Some title, right? That together. Yeah, that’s a good one. I’ve always just wanted to make sure that whatever said have definitely really songs that are just for fun. And just for you to dance, too. But for the most part, if you give him a guitar, I do want to write something meaningful, you know, and something that someone across the world can hear by accident and be like, man, I’ve I’ve felt that and I’ve been there. I’ve had the heartbreak of

had that, joy, you know, and so a lot of people ask why gets a personal in my songs? And it’s like really be on the way. No, how to do it. You know, like I’ve tried to write, quote, unquote, just like I hit, you know, like this was on the radio have definitely had a few of those. But for the most part, if I can write on the streets and it be a hit, that is a that’s the Mecca. >> That they’re so well, Thomas, I just want to say it’s always such a treat to

visit and talk with you like last. I love your music. We’re going to be just it’s my happy Place, Man, Thomas Rhett radio time air for shot on Spotify. What Davis herself and she plays this general of this arming. They’re called the Agojie and they’re real life war years that were and defending the kingdom of Dahomey back in the 19th century. You have elevated also obliquely. Incredible incredible cast including the shot, a lunch she led team John Boyega. And one thing to note in this film, the women the cast of doing their own stunts all this time

spent on fighting and that is so so rare in Hollywood and a person that I think stunned that a lot is the Shona Lynch saw her last issue starting a double 0, 7, film. No. It was the first black female double 0, 7, He’s phenomenal. So look out for us when we get some buzz coming. Awards season is made by a La Davis is already the woman king and now she is the queen can. And when does one come out this without the years already made it out. All right. So let’s talk about a movie

that is getting a lot of buzz already. It’s a psychological thriller. Her brother. What happens on screen? What happens offscreen? >> The good thing. It has to be a talking. It’s called Don’t worry, Darling. Lots of buzz as you mentioned. But it’s getting buzz for kind of 2 reasons. One, Olivia Wilde, it’s her second film director second feature film. Both of the cast. You got Harry’s be. Harry Styles is starring in this film along with a JAMA Cha Chris Pine. And it really is a visual treat the costumes. It’s 1960’s glam, but it’s also super

duper, Frankie and bizarre woman named Alice, who is married to this man who the part of this experiment with a kind of living in a utopian society. Alex begins to question that sort of wonderland and it becomes a bigger nightmare. It’s very scary, very freaky, but also something that I think will have people talking not just about the pre buzz when they walk out of the theater, they’ll be buzzing. >> All right. And that one is in theaters now to right? That’s right now. Yes. All right. So we had could have a fall preview without

talking about a Halloween movie in really talking about a horror movie here. We’re talking about perhaps one of the most beloved Halloween movies of all time finally. >> Getting a sequel. It’s Hocus Pocus. 2. I still watch Hocus Pocus. What? Michael? Once every 6 months. Yes. Even haha. You watch it. Like what? This one? I’ve been waiting 30 years. The first came out in 93. It’s a beloved film. We’ve got the whole cast about a ghost artist, Parker Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy. And it’s such a long these young girls who are in Salem and they

somehow get the Sanderson sisters released again from, you know, from they’ve been held all these years and they have to find a way to stop them from wreaking havoc on the one of my one big question is will bet Midler be singing again in the fall. She in the first one moment. All of this will be streaming on Disney plus September 30th and do Watch party. >> Okay. All right. Thank you. I can’t wait for it. I I’m heading to Salem says I’m excited to kind of deal. The fall was about it. Just a ghost

story there. But like got to feel the energy of Hocus Pocus, right? Anderson said, yeah, they’re they’re make your party. He’s super super hero picks ran because I mean, even not just for summer superhero movies are all all year long. And Marvel’s got really a big one coming after the cards for my lack of a kind forever. >> This one is the Black Panther sequel Recommit Forever and Pokemon waiting on this for a long time. And we’re all still grieving. Tabak Bozeman can play King to Sha La his death in real life. But the Kass

is coming back. You have Angela Bassett Letisha, right? And I think this was going to really stem around that. He she right who played King T’Challa, sister Sherry. So she’s kind of stepping up to the throne. It’s going to be a phenomenal film. So much expectation on the Soma did a lot at the box office. And it’s a sad to see that kind of bows and won’t be here. But I think they’ll be a moment to recognize him in some way in this film. I’m here for it and I’m ready. I feel like to pay

tribute to him and I guess with with a little bit longer for it, right? Yeah. Joe and Black Panther Wakanda forever. It hits theaters November. The 11th. If you guys are in the mood for more superhero action you gotta see black. Adam, this one’s from DC Comics. And if the character that you’ve heard a lot of buzz about, there’s a cameo, a black, Adam and this is an film. The Wayne Johnson is playing this character who’s not toys and comic books. Blackout is when a Captain Marvel’s arch enemies. He’s an anti hero, gets released from

prison after yes, 5,000 years behind bars and he has to now come out of prison and try to become a hero is a new building in town who is much more dangerous then himself. I’m just the most shocking guys that Dwayne The Rock Johnson after all the years doing what he does is being being the biggest he is it’s his first superhero film. That’s so crazy to me and us going watch Black. Adam when it hits theaters October. The 21st. >> The next one. I’m a little biased. This is my favorite right here comes from

a parent company, NBC Universal and its bros. And it’s right. History made. >> This is history in the making is the first film from major study to have to a gay man and lead roles. Also the first film from an openly gay man to his writing the script from a major studio. So it’s a huge, huge deal. Stars Billy Eichner Bowen Yang who I love this summer from the the Fire Island by Island also teaches medicine. Kristen Channel with Amy Schumer, Kenan Thompson. And to me, it’s one of those movies could pose going to love.

You saw what you think about it. I thought was great to actually hilarious. It’s heartwarming. And it’s in the vein of all the rom coms that we’ve seen over the years like, you know, knocked up and train wreck. And that’s so a little bit of fun, a little bit inappropriate. But that really is a lot of her. I want to see more films like this time. It is still time I sat down with the cast recently. One of the things they said is, you know, for years and years and years, they’ve said they’ve had to

watch straight love stories. And now it’s about time that everyone gets to watch a gay rom-com love story play out. Billy Eichner. I mean, from YouTube to this here and still yelling at people and really that was out in theaters on September. 30th. The last we want to talk about is luckiest girl alive. What we know about this, this was a film that’s based on a book came out a few years ago. It stars on Mila Kunis and it’s a mystery thriller. And Reese Witherspoon is behind. This is the P I flexed his carved out

her own. Yeah, John, right ways. But it’s the woman whose looking at a magazine in New York City who basically has to grapple with her past and high school. She witnessed a mass shooting and now a real-life documentary has reached out to her to star in this and kind of an impact would all happen again. It’s a mystery thriller. I can’t tell you what happened, but I watched it. It’s amazing if you love fashion and give you those high fashion, you know, magazine. >> That wears Prada moments. Look, this is phenomenal. Alright Reese owns book.

She owns movies All and when can we catch that one can watch this one in movie theaters, September 30th. And that will be on Netflix the week after. All right. Definitely adding that. One of my watch is Chris, thank you so much. Appreciate your time. So many great pics here. Thank you for joining us for our fall movies preview. Can’t wait to catch all of these and we should mention you can download Chris’s app. Popular is from the App Store for more great recommendations. Thanks for joining us. Definitely can’t wait to get to the theater

to see some of those Chris mentioned luckiest girl alive. And up next, we’re going to hear from its star Mila Kunis. She dropped by Studio one A today. That and more after the break. Mila Kunis is a film based on a best-selling novel. The Luckiest Girl Alive. She stopped by Studio one a to tell us about her role and catch up on her busy life and he is there. >> We have to see it. Go nice to meet you under Mr. Morrison, it’s me, Tiffany, Mister Larson. What was your teacher? Tiffany? I didn’t recognize you.

I mean, none of it ever happened. >> So where mishap? Alright, Mila Kunis joins us. Mile-high his notice. That was slouching. Haha set up straight. I know I I was watching this movie last night. First of all, don’t want to vote yet night. Tell me what it was about it. Was it that the book captivate you when you like I’ve got to play this role. What was it about this character that you said yes to. >> It was like a multitude of things to be honest because he always gets in scripts that always had like

a woman who dot that, that that is very popular in the eyes. The things that I loved about this was Jessica knows boys. I think she’s got a very specific way of writing characters, staff and I created to any writer where you can listen to their dialogue and you’ll instantly be like, Oh, I know who wrote. Yeah, that Sunday was Jessica know when I read the script was the character goes. I think everyone’s going to be the answer. They always been a place to be flawed. They want somebody to a ball that all of that.

And of course, it’s way more fun to fight in. This case I thought was interesting, was the use of the voice over? >> And is that you get to actually see the juxtaposition and it’s not done. I just was a really innovative way of doing so. It’s cool. Cause you hear what’s going on in her mind. You hear what she’s saying out loud and every now and then what’s going on in your mind actually comes out of your mouth in front of, you know, what happens a couple of times. Why are you the kind of

person who says what you think? Oh, yes, but I want you to know. I have worked on that. I have developed a slight filter as my parents. >> I don’t think that it’s not something I’m proud of like. I think that some people like I say what I think I might not and that not all my thoughts and to be outward like they don’t. But in my 20’s, I was like, oh, my God, this is getting too much for me like I had whatever you thought you said. And yeah, and now you’re just a little

bit more. I think so. You should probably ask my husband, but I really think that I worked really hard at not saying all my thoughts. You guys are working on a reboot of be of that 70’s show you. Well, yes, we did one C I do expect. But I think this is like I’m not we’re blowing it all for it. By the way, everybody should watch. It’s a very cute we’ve we’ve I will love it. It’s like it’s exactly what we wanted to be. But what do you have? You have you worked on one saying

that it did one thing and my spoilers, my husband and I are in as the couple which is weird way, way wide. So okay when it was presented to us. Yeah, as they so clearly I’m going to be with says because I remember ending the show with wellness care care and the boy. That’s too weird for audiences. So now you asked Netanyahu really weird or so after that play a married couple in the show. I won’t give away why like I want to tell you because that’s a cute little part of that story. Plot line.

And I came to know is it true that Ashton is running the New York City Marathon? Yeah. What’s he doing? Was he doing that is running a lot. Why? We couldn’t say no. He’s running for thorn for our nation. And so he’s an incredible human being who just in case he doesn’t do enough goes out and does more. So he’s been training for the marathon with backs as his coach. I don’t want so I do want to I don’t I support this, but I don’t actually partake in this. He’s been running with like celebs on

this peloton thing. Is that what he’s doing? And that’s in our house late what he’s talking about. So all of that on all of this was shot in our house. So my kids and I are right. That’s our house like that. It’s our basement and there. He’s happy. He’s wanting. Haha. And yeah, this was all shot in the house and he he reached out to Peloton and was like, hey, I’m going to run the marathon in order to help me raise money. Can I come on your platform? People can watch this one with me and

donate to or not. I like you. Sure. And so we ended up calling all of our friends and was like I’m going to do this come and do with us. You say as if he hasn’t done enough? Well, you also do a lot. I mean, I’m awesome come. >> I was just thinking about when the war broke out in Ukraine that you and your husband, your born in Ukraine. Now you guys just stepped up and said, you know what this is. This is something that matters to us. Yeah. >> I know. I look at what’s

happening today and I look at every I mean, I cannot get there’s always something happening and you constantly feel like you want to try to help everybody all the same time to get some saying the overwhelming because there’s only so much you can do so little time when it came to Ukraine. It was like 48 hours after one. The prefix is and I can go and this is going to come back. He kept saying this is going to come really bad. Our friends were in town from Kiev. We’re sitting on our couch and like you

have to go back, right? And I know it’s going to be fine. There’s not be awarded the triage on the border. There’s no triage and it’s going to be fine. They went back less than 2 weeks later. War breaks out. He’s so there’s a part of that one. Okay. So now he’s going to do something about and we kept looking around. And then what was interesting was people get training because I think because from Ukraine to keep turning to me going. >> What do we do to help what we do? And I was like asking

me a minute. Yeah. And so then within like 48 hours, I mean, I will give credit to GoFundMe dot or 2 on comedy, but a lot of people rallied and then we were able to settle this. Well, I think you guys do great work. Hats off to your husband, Ashton. I know you don’t run, but we have a couple of props that you can. When you come to New York, we got you a bullhorn with which we’ve had specially made it says run Ashton on it. You know, to him on the sidelines when you come

to new this really work. Yeah, the trial and I just run Ashton hat. Okay. And you got a whistle. So whenever he comes through, we’re going to be cheering Ashton on along with you and that great charities working. Think you do this. So sweet and so on. But thank you so much. Thank you so much. Good luck with this again. Luckiest girl alive, which is a thriller. It start streaming next Friday, October 7th on Netflix. >> Up next, a walk down. Lizzie McGuire Memory Lane with Hilary Duff. And today I’m Hilary Duff’s 35th birthday. We

thought we revisit a millennial law. Lizzie McGuire, tough start as a girl navigating life growing up in the early 2. Thousands. Here’s our conversation with her from the vault. Totally handle this possible and not not not in the U.S.. >> I think one of the reasons people responded and fell in love with was in the choir was that she was such a relief with a local girl. She was going through experiences through middle school that everybody can relate to. And she didn’t necessarily fit into the popular kids or, you know, the mean girls or the

jocks or the reigns. You know, she she kind of had friends everywhere. But we’ll see later in securities out, you know, for everyone to kind of relate to. And I think that really resonated with people. You know, when I was shooting, that’s where I was obviously the same age as her. So is going through a lot of the same things and the writers would pull a lot of and kind of like write them into the x-cel drama with friends or having to go shopping with my mom kind of being uncomfortable and let’s see in my

own skin and falling down or, you know, whatever kind of what’s happening, not not that they took all of my life things, but it was very like similar what you know, what’s happening in my life and was happening in her life. And I definitely think that the brought the so it is one that stands out in my brain is being like Fresno, really wanting x. I thought it was cool. And then second involving like, how am I going to get that? I have on my parents about that. It’s going to be the worst thing ever.

Sometimes. It’s wild to me that I’ve had such a long career already and 30 and one of the today show this is actually just came in and was like, well, yesterday we celebrated that metamorphosis 15 year anniversary. And I was like, please wear my where have I been? It’s really nice to know that, you know, even past was in a while. I had fans that have stuck by my side and, you know, followed me into the music career and back into acting again. And I’m a new show younger and and to see just, you know,

people enjoying what I’m working on. You know, I feel lucky that I get to work on projects that I enjoy that I feel connected to land to know that so many people have holiday along the way. We’re just supporting me. Not even followed that supported me than kind to me. And really to me is is really nice to know that I need some sort of it. >> Fun fact. There seems to be a social media campaign calling for a Lizzie reboot music group DNC event during Joe Jonas here to call for a comeback after posting

a cover of doubt song. It feels so good. >> And now it’s unclear if or when we’ll see more. Lizzie, but I hope you enjoyed that, OK? That’s it for us. That was another fine pop star. Plus, join us again tomorrow for much more. Have a great day. >> Sponsored by walmart. >> What if we all welcome to today all day kitchen pasta is a staple for so many week night meals it’s easy to make pretty hard to screw up. So satisfied. I’m making pillow we saw for cotton, you see with peas and Parma in

a buttery sauce. >> And I couldn’t get the cream that you can still go out with baby Bella much room. >> I’m whipping up a spicy began a pasta alla vodka so start pulling some water, it’s time to use the noodle and let’s get cooking. >> You can shop the ingredients featured here from our sponsor wal-mart by scanning the qr code today earns a commission from purchases made through links on today dot com. >> I have to admit pasta is one of my go to comfort food, so I am very excited to share this recipe

with him the first thing we want to do is take our gorgeous ricotta and actually lay it out in a thin layer on paper towels since the ricotta is the the base of our dough we need to remove some of that moisture. So it ends up really nice and light and fluffy rather than death. It’s we are going to let this sit for about 12 to 15 minutes just to make sure that the paper towel of storms that moisture but lucky for me I made one before. Here is how it ends up looking one it

is John. Stunning OK so now let’s just make her dough we have our ricotta rate here plop it right on in. So we have 2 large eggs here going to crack them. Right into. Our bill. One cup of finely grated parmigiano reggiano cheese and some kosher salt this too. Awaken the flight. Before we add in our flower we are going to delicately mix it all together. So it creates a really light fluffy consistency. So now that this is looking really beautifully mixed together that is when we know it is time to start adding in our

flower, it’s really important here to add your flour in a quarter cup at a time because we don’t want to develop too much fluid. But we also want to make sure that our ricotta stays nice and fluffy just going to delicately mix it. Until there are no more bits of flour and we’ll just keep next in our final quarter cup. There we go looking good. Now it is time to shape our new e. >> We’re going to take our dough mixture and form it into it. But it feels so good it feels like a baby’s

bottom can we use that in the final cut. >> It’s what it feels like OK and that’s going to dust the top with a bit more flour. >> And this is my favorite tool, whenever I’m making pasta also whenever and cooking to easily pick things up is called the bench. Scraper it’s typically used for decorating cakes making sure you have a nice smooth line of frosting around your cake but it does such a good job of picking things up and it also does a great job of cutting things really even and we’re going to put

this into quarters and the next thing we’re going to do as we’re going to roll this out into a beautiful snake that is about one inch thick. It feels so nice. So soft. I like to cut off the end first just because this and it doesn’t look as nice and then what I’ll do is I will just keep cutting. Little one inch pieces of pasta I look at that they look like little pillows don’t they have beautiful us and what we’re going to do is we’ll take that same bench scraper that we have lift them

up and transfer them to a parchment lined baking sheet all right and we’re just going to repeat this with our remaining pieces of neo Quito looking good. Before we Cook are you OK I want to get started on the star of ourselves. This is a lemon butter sauce so we are going to be using the zest and juice of 2 gorgeous lemons and I’m going to show you my favorite way to prepare lemon zest so we’re just going to take the killer. And we’re on it. Along blanks wise on this lime and pulling the zest

off. So I’m just going to remove any of this extra path. And the reason why we’re moving this pick is because the pitch is a bit better and we don’t want any of that bitterness and as you can see stacked up all this lemon into cute little. Well most soldiers if you will take your knife. And rocket back and forth. Along that appeal. It smells amazing you can see how beautiful. These strips are and then we’ll do is we’ll take these trends and turn them and we will run our nice across. And it took me

a while to master these skills, let me tell you it really all comes down to practicing over and over and over again it’s really repetition here. And now I’m just going to take my nice around through this party was it smelling absolutely amazing. That’s asked though, I mean it’s like freshly fallen snow. Let’s clean up. >> Water Boylan and finish up this seat. >> Our water is boiling it is time to Khobar Yogi, and you’ve got to pay attention because this all happens pretty quickly but I promise you you have all of the tools to

absolutely crush it. The first we want to do is salt our water. I’m taking kosher salt. Okay, this is boiling beautifully and we can use our fingers to plop these in because let me tell you they are light and kill E and dropping them all in at once is going to cause them to smushed together. We want the U.S. to come in til, they floats to the top okay, they basically tell us they’re like hey what’s that and then to save some time we are actually going to take our friends in key is and we’re

going to pop those in as well so this pasta water is liquid gold. I call a Unicorn just got some cooking because all of the starch in the water itself is actually going to help find our sauce together and we’re going to start adding in our Q unsalted butter a couple tablespoons at a time you really want to be cold water because our goal here is to really falsify everything takeaway us start with getting everything up is he starting to flow. And now we are ready to bring our sauce and our new you together I’ve

actually turned off the Heat if it is too hot. It may cause your sauce to break so just make sure you turn that heat off. Next up we’re going to add and a half of our lemons asked to how good does this look okay next up we are going to slowly. Add in our car keep on mixing it back and forth so that it melts an ice event action. It is smelling so good and as you can see it is really looking super glossy and it is he staying still is. So add in the lemon

juice a little bit at a time. Again we want to also 5 us and we don’t want to freak out the gorgeous sauce that we just worked so hard to build. It is coating all of those beautiful pillows of me key and now it is time to play to that. Oh my gosh. How gorgeous does this look okay a little extra parm some freshly ground black pepper and then I’ll take a little bit of trash in its. A little drizzle of olive oil gives the pasta gorgeous she and and there you go homemade ricotta new

in a lab and daughter sauce with ease and. It is melting in my mouth, the par as the perfect amount of nuttiness and salting asked I don’t have any other words to say except. I know your gun a lot this. but this creamy comfort food Paris incredibly well with chicken but the best part about this dish is that it all comes together in one spot listen. This is always a win in my kitchen, right so first we’re going to do is we’re going to make our driver, I like to use a little bit of smoked

paprika you can use the regular pretty good too. But I think smoke flavor says bring a lot more body to your recipe. Then a little bit of dry time. And then a little bit of garlic powder. Give it a good swish all right now let’s move on to our chicken. I just got some lean says it was chicken. I’m not sure about you, but I like to come on up into smaller pieces. The reason why it’s going to cook a lot faster all right John, let’s add this to our bowl get your hands all up

in there don’t be scared to get your hands dirty. And it just brings up the cutting board want red lines that the mushrooms okay now I’m going to be using some baby Bella mushrooms I think they’re super delicious was going to slice it into small slices just like this. So that a ton of mushrooms here and you’re probably thinking okay that’s not going to fit in length and don’t worry much of the kind of like spinach once you start cooking imminence of the 2 and a strip club really really small, so they will fit I

promise you that. >> Our mushrooms are cut up the city’s aside and now we’re going to fire up a pan and get cooking we’re going to place this on a medium high heat. >> Okay, with it, nice and hot in goes the oil, this is a little bit of olive oil. A little bit of heart health little sprinkle of that then I can grab some tongs and ngos our chicken. >> Well, that’s a sound when I see a nice color on the chicken. We go even want to put this for about 45 minutes on each

side and then look at this and look at that beautiful color they can move it around a little bit you’re feeling brave you can go ahead and toss it, but again the no mask recipe so the police I’m committed to making it gets in. This chicken in just about ready to move my motion a little bit closer then he is much Hong’s let’s start taking up the pieces of chicken. Oh my God look at that. It’s looking so good kid did that. If you’re not your best cheerleader in the kitchen, I don’t know what you’re

doing that just give yourself a pat on the back and smell so good, it looks a bit. Exactly what we want. This will be here now I’m going to add in the mushrooms now now there’s a lot you can flavor here ready. So we want them. We’ve got a good sear here and when it’s going to will them a little bit by using a little bit of chicken broth well, it’s a little bit this is to create some steam. And also this is going to help Tuesday glaze the bottom of our scale as well want

to get my salt they on give me a little pinch of salt just a little bit. And the cool thing about mushrooms that has just drinking up to you know, they’re just soaking up all this flavor so people the safe like mushrooms unlike the man motions like labor bone, then make your mouth water is that Mommy factor more enough to mushrooms this year now we’re going to read it, great a little bit of a thick gravy we’re going to add a little bit of flour I’m going to give this could toss. We’re going to add

but what you come from. >> And what you’ll see here you’re going to still delays but you see now the chicken broth is really cloudy and that’s because he’s turning into that gray be that one also going to add in a little bit of this John. >> And just keep stirring keeps turn and this is looking beautiful all right now, let’s begin to bring everything together in goes out. Chicken broth. There are some things grab yourself in a noodles sprinkle those on and then for in dressed that. And the noodles are going to absorb all

of this liquid, that’s now like agree. We’re going to have to like someone you can see right here inside that a little light summer going. That’s just about right and then we’re going to cover and cook this for about 7 minutes. >> Oh my gosh I started these once they are looking good. Always check the noodles and if you’re thinking like kids look a little watery what am I going to do. >> Don’t worry, I got to remember that it’s going to thicken up as it cools but also is going to thicken up because we’re

going to add in are over now. We feel it is really high in protein and it’s really really really good. Look at this. It looks like they added cheese but not and this is our swapped for sour cream. >> Last but work we’re going to add in our chicken you can be here to smell it becomes can describe it. We need this moment, he’s from Willie wonka some of the plate it here and finish it off with. We like some of the chicken fry, this chicken stroganoff you seeing it first here today and today on

the beach. It was some fresh black pepper. Look at that. I don’t know about y’all. But I’m excited about it. Get a little bit of a mushroom little bit it all and then some of this second, I mean chicken. >> Well my >> with some good happy and church. There you go haha I guarantee your friends and family are going to love this dish. many pasta dishes I mean over the years one of my absolute favorites Penney all about. So today, I’m getting that beautiful thing sauce we can make over. I’m going to miss on

that can to let’s get started with a crunchy bread crumb topping so first I might get a small skillet over medium-low heat and we’re going to add in a little bit of olive oil. So far right comes we’re going to take a break proms I love using panko because it’s extra crime she and its place so we can add anything to it and even Billy those flavors and the way we’re going to do that is by adding some red Chile flakes because we want this spicy and the little bit of not make for really round

out this waivers and at that 38. A little bit of kosher salt a little bit of freshly ground black pepper. We just we’re going to cook this over medium-low and so it gets a nice golden brown color. So essentially just hosting it in the pan this usually takes about 5 minutes to get nice and Golden and crispy it loosely moves in the hand that means it’s ready. So just aren’t any good sauce you have to start off with your aromatics we’re going to start with one medium white onion and some Parliament. We just want to

get a small dice on this. And next up the garlic we’re using about 4 cloves of garlic I just like to give them a light rushed to help me with the shopping process. Another great way to prep all of this is actually just blitzing it up in a food processor just putting it on chopped and giving it a few pulses and it all the roughly chopped so you want to start off with really large pan and get it over medium-high heat. All of oil. And one tablespoon of the butter. Traditional bought the sauce is so

indulgent and creamy so we’re at a few options to help bring that creaminess to the sauce so now that oil is hot. The fire is sizzling, let’s go on with our onion and garlic. >> Want to get some salt and at this point because that’s going to help the eye and sweat out all of them. I said this a spicy bought the sauce so. Now coming in are spicy elements were going to add some chilly place. Well, let’s not stop there. Every in Chile. The location. These for about 5 minutes until the onions are sweating

in almost translucent so now let’s go and with our tomato paste the tomato paste is going to add basically we concentrated tomato flavor so it’s going to feel like we’ve been cooking the sauce all day but really we have it. Some get this for free to into the onions so the star of the show some vodka know this is not a shot for me this is for the pasta maybe that will be late. >> So once the athabasca and all that alcohol is going to evaporate who don’t have to worry about any alcohol actually being

in there with the flavor of the Baca will become concentrated which is what adds that unique flavor to block the sauce which I happen to love. >> We’re going to go in with some crushed tomatoes. I’m going with a little sugar. Now don’t hate on this this is really going to help balance the flavors again there’s a lot of acidity of the tomatoes and then we also have a lot of spice so the sugar is going to help round everything out as well as some dried oregano so I I like to take this and rub

it in between my fingers to get the oils in the right to know activated. We want our spicy bought the sauce to be smooth and silky and in order to achieve that we’re going to use an immersion blender. This looks great look how vibrant that is really starting to look like a sauce. So now we’re going to add a few dairy elements to our sauce we’re going to add a little bit of Eagan Kremer as well as some vegan cream cheese we want to make sure to incorporate all of that in and you could see

the color is this beautiful light orange watch this awesome color. And one full spring, a fresh face off we’re going to let that simmer with the sauce. Okay, let’s check in our pasta water. It’s boiling before we do anything we always want to salt our pasta water. And now for our pasta I just want to show you guys. So this is called a colony palm pay I think any means COLUMN and Pompei is obviously a city in Italy that to me it’s just a beautiful large few silly and it looks delicious to be so we’re

going to get these it. This pasta is so big it takes about 10 or 12 minutes to cook so I’m gonna start cleaning up and get everything out of the way and get ready to play it. Our hospital looks ready. So let’s add it into a lot of us. >> So fun that the swirls and this is like oh this is our starchy salted water so we’re actually going to lail into our pasta to make and it so want to make sure to check we combine this with sauce because we don’t want to break up

our poll showing some world pasta look how fun, this looks I’m so excited to be there. But spy chief right. So it’s not completely cool so we can use user and Stu garnish it is if we were punishing with Parmesan and then if you want to be extra fancy. Spring. OK I’ve waited long enough so we’re now ready to dig in. I’m so excited to shave we like the proper ways. I think that I’m proud so this and so fun little of that. Chefs yes, this is delicious. >> Dealing with infertility can be emotionally trying

experience. And it’s something I understand firsthand. My husband, John and I struggle through several years of infertility. Before we finally welcome to my beautiful daughter Margot. With the help of a surrogate for the one in 8 couples dealing with infertility, the journey can be incredibly isolating with partners coping in different ways as a different hardships. For some, it can even tear their relationships apart but for others, thank you. Get closer and stronger. Earlier this year, I spent time with a support group for couples who are struggling with infertility. They were determined to find ways to

grief while also continuing to nurture their relationships all while trying to build their families. We know that you’re navigating all these hard conversations. Live in Poland knows firsthand how difficult infertility can be. After 6 years and 10 rounds of IVF, she and her husband Drew now have 2 daughters. You can never be who you are before all this. It’s going to forever change you and it changes everyone who experiences it. So finding someone to talk with you can be crucial. Our stories are all different. >> But they’re all begin their ballot. But at the end

of the day, we could connect with the feelings that around it, the hardness of it, the challenges that the difficult decisions that need to be made. >> Lynn connected with the National Infertility Associations Resolve support group. >> Once she could have found herself in the community, that’s what I started to see. A huge shift. What >> is it about community that gives couples who are suffering through infertility strength connection. >> They were able to connect and empathy with other people that might be traveling something different. >> Lynn is now a family building coach with Kindred

beginnings. >> I want to turn my pain into purpose and to support other people that were in the journey because it’s hard and it doesn’t need to be so hard. If you surround yourself with community amazing things happen. And I wanted to be that community for people. >> There’s no group has become a family affair with drew, seeing firsthand how Lindsay experiences have had great impact on others. >> And helping them avoid some of the pitfalls that she fell into and help deal with some of the emotions and feelings that maybe she didn’t know how

to deal with at that time where we do every day, she just gets to walk away with making a pretty big impact. Somebody need being the leader of the group. It’s healing for me. >> This is how I feel because this is empowering. I’m able to support others and lift others up in love and connection and support and it kills me. >> At Lynn Sessions, couples gather to share struggles, triumphs and strengthen their relationships. >> Bill is a very present in the moment. Her son through our journey. I’m the type the plan or the control

freak. Hasta everything. Figure it all out. You can do that at this process. How did you learn how to communicate with each other? Therapy? Helped a lot. >> Understanding that each person Griese in a different way. Some people really need to talk about it. Some people want to keep it and we’re going to grieve differently. And that’s OK, it doesn’t mean that your partner is wrong. >> That’s really hard to get to that place when you have really strong communication prior to the U.S. and then you come to a point in life and you realize,

oh, my gosh, like what happened to our foundation, how I mean it. It just all went out the window. >> Learning to talk about the pain and knowing when to focus on something else is a big part of the conversations I’ve been. >> So fearful of this just taking over and this becoming everything. >> Family building can consume you. It is all day every day on your mind. And so when we talk about making the time and space every day at 4 o’clock, this is when we talk about family going from 45 or whatever it

is for you. >> Because otherwise, it will consume your entire day. And then what happens as we found other things to deal with or is talking more during our home projects are. >> You know, just busy isn’t easy. And for us, we were kind of still newlyweds. But we know that we’re going to tell us we’re still trying to learn to communicate with each other as newlyweds and then decide to go to a clinic, you know, having losses. It’s just, you know, a lot to figure out the first couple years of marriage and you’ve been

there for over half of marriage. >> My husband and I went through that same exact thing. We got married and the marriage is new and we were not 40’s when we got married. So we started trying immediately and our whole marriage like all of those early days that are supposed to be the honeymoon phase 4. Yeah, about dealing with infertility. >> You know, think about going up. You know, this is what I do and shelling in Mariupol, you know, and they get married on this and it’s tough, you know, holding a direction. You go down.

>> For me, I just thought this is never going to happen to me, right? And also I thought this is a beautiful point that you have made, which is that it feels like IVF should be a guarantee. >> Nothing’s guaranteed in this process. Yeah, exactly. Learned that has very quickly navigate it is that there is no guarantee. >> We’ve gotten pregnant 3 times through IVF and lost. All 3 of those pregnancies were doing everything we’re supposed to be doing. Like why is this happening? Everyone else is a look at and stay pregnant. >> I think

the first step for me is to normalize it. >> Doctor, Lucky C Conn is a fertility doctor at RMA of New York. The first step she takes with her patients is often education and accepting. You may not have all the answers. I think. >> The root of the pain is the lack of control. And this idea that green and all of us from education and just, you know, achieving throughout your life, the amount of effort you put in should produce the results. And this is one of those areas where that is not the case, right?

You can do everything, right. You could be the healthiest person. You know, the this is something that you largely cannot control. And that’s why, you know, the number one message that I give to my patients who are struggling with the stress of it all is that this is not your fault. we. >> We’re going to have to seek fertility treatment. We both have our own past experiences with fertility centers. It’s definitely an additional process. Was ups downs, tryst turns. >> And at the age of 34 I mean, I would expect something different for my body,

although you’re in a same sex marriage. And there’s an infertility issues about for so many people in so many LGBT couples. You know, this isn’t covered and they have to jump through hoops and there’s a huge expense. And it’s just a long journey. And that’s very, very, very difficult when it doesn’t go your way or as expected. Like we all said, like you go to IVF like it is a short shot like that is what we’re paying for. That is what we’re signing up for. And to learn the hard way that that is just simply

not the case. It’s tough. We say that all the time, like if anybody was on plan going to be sitting to her, right, right, coming up, Plan B seen team and then you run through the alphabet of 7, like. >> All right. We’ll go back to. Yeah. Haha. >> Let’s read letters here. I think it’s important to go into it saying this is not a sprint. It’s a marathon. >> How can individuals couples find the right path for them? >> We want to help them overcome the inefficiency of reproduction. And there’s really 2 buckets. There’s

2 buckets of treatment or PAC ways that you can take. And one is a laid-back approach that isn’t that much more efficient or effective, but it might be the extra push that you need to get there. That’s the type of treatment pathway where I tell patients it often takes persistence and time and you should go into it thinking that there are other options like the second pathway, which is idea, which is very different. It is more work, so less weight back on. It is more expensive. Know that when you’re trying to plan out family building

and what that’s going to look like, it may take a runway of several months before you get to be the number one. And if you’re aware of that, you can make an informed decision about how to proceed. >> When a so-called solution doesn’t work, couples then attempt to find a path forward and it can be hard trying to fit into a family focus is citing as they struggle to build their own families. You guys probably. >> All can probably sympathize with a little bit is setting boundaries. And at that time, I really needed to just

retreat into my whole. But Tom is a little bit more social than me and a little bit more open. And, you know, I wasn’t a good separate brands. And I think something that was hard for us was trying to navigate, you know, wanting to go be active in social and do all these things. But I just couldn’t physically get there mentally bring myself to do. It’s how did you guys work through that moment? >> When you are wanting to be more social and you’re wanting to withdraw more, one of these challenges like arrived in Israel

are friends of children now it’s. >> It’s hard to be around people that are happy and they’re having newborns and their kids are growing up. >> I just had to come to terms with telling him exactly how I felt and just saying I have to sell my boundary my boundaries. No, I’m not going I’m not going to do this. And eventually we got to a point where you said, OK, understand and that’s fine. >> How many of you had to kind of have that conversation where you have to say this is what I need like

it’s uncomfortable, but this is what I need. It’s not necessarily what you need, but I need something different right now. >> And we’ve had that conversation. And, you know, and it’s happened more than once for we just kind of had to pick up and leave because it was just too much of a trigger and too much of a challenge to be in those environments. The first question >> you ever get when you’re in. >> Any type of setting of meeting someone is do you have children? That’s like the number one question that comes up. >>

And I think we’ve all been in that situation and million times where people ask you, do you have kids and you don’t. And for me, I wanted to just scream at the top of my lungs. It is a daily occurrence and I still even 6 years going through this. >> I still struggle every day. I’ve called Lynn crying. >> I called my husband crying. >> All right, then and someone asked, you have kids. And he said now and I said, no, we have 3 girls and have been. And it was just like crickets like they

didn’t even know how to respond to that. Everything is focused on kids and family. >> They heard some. It’s not just because I want to be like this is not because we don’t want any kids is that we have a problem going on. >> That’s why the conversation needs to shift from. Do you have kids to tell me about your family? We have to shift the language. this myself, the emotional toll that it takes. And I spoke to a number of couples who are going through infertility for this piece and they all came back to

the emotional toll of the fact that we live in a society where people are having families all around you. How should the couple deal with the emotional toll that infertility tasks? >> I think the emotional toll is it can never be understated. Infertility is like this invisible chronic illness. And there have been many studies that have shown the mental anguish and stressed that people face as a result of it is equivalent to dealing with a cancer diagnosis. And it’s something that a lot of people suffer with in silence, which I think compounds the issue because

people feel embarrassed. They feel judged. There’s a lot of stigma, especially in certain cultures that can be very complicated, trying to discuss this with family members. >> And it can be difficult to discuss together. >> He’s love me no matter what. And except that it and he always reminds me that he accepts. And I even like one time I told him that if you want to see me, so be happy and, you know, to see if we can have a baby with someone else. But he always tells me that he’s here for me. No matter

what it sounds like. >> You all have a really strong motive communicating with each other. >> Yeah, we don’t really talk about the family building altogether a lot. >> It just said, OK, diplomats say just look at the S E S. >> He doesn’t like to see me down and he knows that. When we talk about it, I get very sad. Do you want to talk about it more? Yes, and that’s why I joined even yes, all she’s been very helpful for me because I couldn’t talk about this situation before and then some of this

to him, Israel and then for late for the from and there’s hardly any like support. >> Yahoo. The guys talk about what he’s like. He doesn’t know people in his world that have had trouble getting pregnant. I know a ton of women in my life. >> For some couples, it’s hard for both partners to feel involved in the process and to share in the ups and downs. >> The person who’s not doing the carrying often struggles with a unique set of emotions. How should that person approach infertility and be supportive of his or her partner

but also of themselves? >> Some men are not good with seeking out help meeting on others for emotional support or talking about their problems are going to a doctor in the first place. Oftentimes there’s a lot of guilt because the male partner wants to be able to do more. You know, where equal partners and this. Why am I not contributing an equal amount of the burden and, you know, bearing an equal amount of the burden and putting in as much work. I do see a lot of wonderful partners to find ways to be more involved,

like helping with the administration of medications showing up for appointments, you know, being a part of the conversation as the non. >> Potentially pregnant person equation. To me, it always has felt like my empathy and understanding as a limitation of that, that becomes, I think white maddening in this whole thing because you want to be the person that can share and the physical pain and anguish, et cetera, that comes with this whole thing. And unfortunately, as the mail and the he said, there’s only so much you can do it. >> You know, we’re kind of

going back to the caveman reference. You know, you want to be the protector. You want to be their to do everything that you can do. Get us to that dream. And you’re just you’re on the sidelines. You’re stuck and there’s nothing. There’s nothing you can do. You can’t fix it. >> I felt resentment towards my wife about any of this. We’ve been through this together. And but for me, there’s has come from this whole institution. Sometimes it makes you question like, why are we doing this? You know, you know, that will be worth it. And

you know that if it does happen, it will be like to sharing openly. Sometimes it’s hard to remember what we’re doing this sport because it does take a toll on your relationship. >> It’s a toll and the grief that never goes away. Even for those fortunate enough to later become parents. Do you still grieve over those years of infertility? >> How could you not agrees over some of the decisions that I made and didn’t make agrees over? The law says I felt like my body failed me. I felt like I could do more and I

could be better. The grief will never go away. It will always be with me. How do you cope with the fact that you still grieve? You have 2 kids, but you’re still healing grant myself a lot of time and space and permission in the hard moments. When you’re with the yuck, you sit with the can. You just know you’re having a hard moment and it’s temporary. It will pass. The same is true for those good moments. You have to hold on to them because they too, we’ll pass and it’s going to shift. >> How can

couples, how can individuals deal with the grief of loss that often comes with infertility? >> I think it’s such a complicated issue, too, especially if you are in a couple because people handle grief differently. People handle disappointment differently. And I oftentimes will see that as a source of conflict because, you know, one perception of how their partners dealing with it like it can be hurtful that, OK, well, why are you more upset or, you know, there can be a blame game. So there’s a lot of complex things that can happen in a relationship when faced

with the stress of infertility going to miscarriages. >> One of the things that took me so by surprise was when we lost one of our embryos, the level of grief that I experienced, I don’t think anyone ever tells you about that prepares you for that. And that’s part of I think what it stays with you forever. Really a loss is a loss is a loss. Yeah. >> And people have different feelings about that. Some people and some people I have total embryo loss and that’s a loss and that that’s a grief. Some people go to

transfer an Amber Ale and that’s a lost theirs miscarriage. There’s 18 weeks. There is a stillborn. There’s an infant death. It just a grief is a grief is a grief. Nobody tells you that even if you get pregnant and I hate to scare anybody. But that doesn’t mean anything either. I was 18 weeks in a loss, the first baby. And, you know, nobody tells you about that. Nobody tells you about how hard this can be and how much people go through to have a live birth and bring home a baby. >> And then, you know,

going through infertility to try and, you know, have another child, it’s just it’s another layer because you’re dealing with the grief of what you’ve lost. Then you’re trying to expand your family and you’re still dealing with people who are saying things like it happened for a reason. You’ll have another baby. It will be okay. No. There was never a reason for why my son passed away in the room and there was not a reason for why my daughter passed away at 2 and a half months. So there’s not a reason, but it’s just a very

strange space to be in when you want to celebrate the life that you created. But you’re still going through this process and you want to be able to have support. People have no idea how to react or how to respond. >> It’s very difficult. People don’t know how to respond. And the response of all the fix. It’s because they’re uncomfortable. Yeah, and it’s to make them feel better because this is weird. Let’s just say something to make me feel better and it doesn’t make you feel better. >> And even the day >> that we bring

home a healthy baby because we will one way or another, no matter where it comes from, it doesn’t change what we have all been through. This is something that stays with you. You know, the losses and the hopes, the joys, the downfalls, all of it. How much pain are you willing to >> go through physically mentally emotionally financially to get there? >> It is our part. >> Even when you have a child, you still have moments of intense grief for what you’ve lost, the children that you’ve lost. >> I was talk about grief is being

a pinball machine right now. You know the stages, there’s anger. There’s depression, their sadness. There’s Gayle, there’s bargaining. You just go. There’s no cyclical in your way to go about grief and never leave you with just shifts and changes. >> What would you want to tell people about what would be a more helpful and caring response when you share your losses? >> Asked me about them, asked me about my pregnancy and acknowledge the fact that I was pregnant. But I did conceive 2 children, you know, asked me about the moments that I did have with

her that we’re good. If you’re not going to acknowledge them or that they lived in 10, don’t ask anything at all. Don’t say anything at all. So just asking what we need, how we can better be supported and respecting when some things might be difficult for us. That might not be difficult for other people. Santa names and a microphone. Madeleine Joy and Dylan Charles. >> I’m so sorry for your losses. I truly my condolences. But they’re like I’m doing this now. Well, and I a communication breakdown. And how are we going to navigate this? How

are we going to do this together? But you have to be right. And you have to be vulnerable and you have to be resourceful. Ask for help. >> The simple outlet of talking about the loss and the struggle can mean so much. >> You know, I work at Army of New York and we have a mental health team that we partner with that’s available to all of our patients. And I think a lot of fertility clinics are thankfully trying to move toward that model because now we recognize that this is yes, a physical problem that

we have to work around. But there’s also such a huge mental component and you cannot separate the 2. We have to support our patients. >> I love hearing that. I mean that that’s pretty extraordinary, I think because you’re right. I think that a lot of fertility clinics, a lot of fertility doctors don’t come with that, that mental and emotional component. And so often couples deal with the complex emotions that they are feeling differently. As you just said, how can couples address that issue that often they are dealing with this adapting to this very differently? Emotional?

I think therapy is always a good idea. >> And I don’t think it has to be done as a couple. I think sometimes it can be very helpful to have a separate conversation and feel like you have a complete safe space where you can. You talk about how you feel about her higher partners feel alien friend. >> These conversations can be healing for a heartache that never quite goes away. >> I feel probably the most connected to my wife I’ve ever felt. And this is really I think me a stronger for sure. I feel that

we together can do anything. And I hope for me is just too hopefully get past this rough spot and make this work. >> All the couples we met are determined to stay positive and never give up. What >> gives you hope. What keeps you going knowing that? Yes, we have a hard case, but there is also hard cases that are successful. My hope is that our dreams will come true. >> And that I can brag of her family one ever asked. >> I really want to be a mom. Nick does the biggest dream I had?

I’m not I can do it somehow. And I just because I want to so much and when a fight for as much as I want it. >> Getting home from the others in this community. I think that’s really what gives me any kind of strength. There is a point where I was ready to stop. But just hearing other stories has been really good in. You know, once you get that little nugget of hope to keep going to positive things start happening, trying to catch isn’t good. >> Because no matter what you go through, I don’t

believe that hope goes away. I want I want and I feel this way for everyone like do not give up no matter what it looks like for you. No matter how this journey ends up, if it’s in your heart and you know that you want to be a parent find a way. I know that it’s easier said than done. Trust me. I do hold on to that. Plus, good to see you, Chris. Hey, Joe, what do you know

what? You’re the one who knows everything. That’s why we have you here. Maybe a good thing. I want to start off with a movie that it’s it’s epic and it’s also the surprise me its historical soon. It’s got a lot of buzz right call. The woman King is out in theaters now and stars the queen. What Davis herself and she plays this general of this arming. They’re called the Agojie and they’re real life war years that were and defending the kingdom of Dahomey back in the 19th century. You have elevated also obliquely. Incredible incredible cast

including the shot, a lunch she led team John Boyega. And one thing to note in this film, the women the cast of doing their own stunts all this time spent on fighting and that is so so rare in Hollywood and a person that I think stunned that a lot is the Shona Lynch saw her last issue starting a double 0, 7, film. No. It was the first black female double 0, 7, He’s phenomenal. So look out for us when we get some buzz coming. Awards season is made by a La Davis is already the woman

king and now she is the queen can. And when does one come out this without the years already made it out. All right. So let’s talk about a movie that is getting a lot of buzz already.

It’s 1960’s glam, but it’s also super duper, Frankie and bizarre woman named Alice, who is married to this man who the part of this experiment with a kind of living in a utopian society. Alex begins to question that sort of wonderland and it becomes a bigger nightmare. It’s very scary, very freaky, but also something that I think will have people talking not just about the pre buzz when they walk out of the theater,

they’ll be buzzing. >> All right. And that one is in theaters now to right? That’s right now. Yes. All right. So we had could have a fall preview without talking about a Halloween movie in really talking about a horror movie here. We’re talking about perhaps one of the most beloved Halloween movies of all time finally. >> Getting a sequel. It’s Hocus Pocus. 2. I still watch Hocus Pocus. What? Michael? Once every 6 months. Yes. Even haha. You watch it. Like what? This one? I’ve been waiting 30 years. The first came out in 93. It’s a

beloved film. We’ve got the whole cast about a ghost artist, Parker Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy. And it’s such a long these young girls who are in Salem and they somehow get the Sanderson sisters released again from, you know, from they’ve been held all these years and they have to find a way to stop them from wreaking havoc on the one of my one big question is will bet Midler be singing again in the fall. She in the first one moment. All of this will be streaming on Disney plus September 30th and do Watch party. >>

Okay. All right. Thank you. I can’t wait for it. I I’m heading to Salem says I’m excited to kind of deal. The fall was about it. Just a ghost story there. >> This one is the Black Panther sequel Recommit Forever

and Pokemon waiting on this for a long time. And we’re all still grieving. Tabak Bozeman can play King to Sha La his death in real life. But the Kass is coming back. You have Angela Bassett Letisha, right? And I think this was going to really stem around that. He she right who played King T’Challa, sister Sherry. So she’s kind of stepping up to the throne. It’s going to be a phenomenal film. So much expectation on the Soma did a lot at the box office. And it’s a sad to see that kind of bows and won’t

be here. But I think they’ll be a moment to recognize him in some way in this film. I’m here for it and I’m ready. I feel like to pay tribute to him and I guess with with a little bit longer for it, right? Yeah. Joe and Black Panther Wakanda forever. It hits theaters November. The 11th. If you guys are in the mood for more superhero action you gotta see black. Adam, this one’s from DC Comics. And if the character that you’ve heard a lot of buzz about, there’s a cameo, a black, Adam and this is

an film. The Wayne Johnson is playing this character who’s not toys and comic books. Blackout is when a Captain Marvel’s arch enemies. He’s an anti hero, gets released from prison after yes, 5,000 years behind bars and he has to now come out of prison and try to become a hero is a new building in town who is much more dangerous then himself. I’m just the most shocking guys that Dwayne The Rock Johnson after all the years doing what he does is being being the biggest he is it’s his first superhero film. That’s so crazy to

me and us going watch Black. Adam when it hits theaters October. The 21st. >> The next one. I’m a little biased. This is my favorite right here comes from a parent company, NBC Universal and its bros. And it’s right. History made. >> This is history in the making is the first film from major study to have to a gay man and lead roles. Also the first film from an openly gay man to his writing the script from a major studio. So it’s a huge, huge deal. Stars Billy Eichner Bowen Yang who I love this summer

from the the Fire Island by Island also teaches medicine. It

is still time I sat down with the cast recently. One of the things they said is, you know, for years and years and years, they’ve said they’ve had to watch straight love stories. And now it’s about time that everyone gets to watch a gay rom-com love story play out. Billy Eichner. I mean, from YouTube to this here and still yelling at people and really that was out in theaters on September. 30th. The last we want to talk about is luckiest girl alive. What we know about this, this was a film that’s based on a book

came out a few years ago. It stars on Mila Kunis and it’s a mystery thriller. And Reese Witherspoon is behind. This is the P I flexed his carved out her own. I can’t tell you what happened, but I

watched it. Can’t wait to catch all of these and

we should mention you can download Chris’s app. Popular is from the App Store for more great recommendations. Thanks for joining us. Definitely can’t wait to get to the theater to see some of those Chris mentioned luckiest girl alive. And up next, we’re going to hear from its star Mila Kunis. She dropped by Studio one A today. That and more after the break. Mila Kunis is a film based on a best-selling novel. The Luckiest Girl Alive. She stopped by Studio one a to tell us about her role and catch up on her busy life and he

is there. What was

it about this character that you said yes to. >> It was like a multitude of things to be honest because he always gets in scripts that always had like a woman who dot that, that that is very popular in the eyes. The things that I loved about this was Jessica knows boys. I think she’s got a very specific way of writing characters, staff and I created to any writer where you can listen to their dialogue and you’ll instantly be like, Oh, I know who wrote. Yeah, that Sunday was Jessica know when I read the script

was the character goes. You hear what she’s saying out loud and every now and

then what’s going on in your mind actually comes out of your mouth in front of, you know, what happens a couple of times. Why are you the kind of person who says what you think? Oh, yes, but I want you to know. I have worked on that. I have developed a slight filter as my parents. >> I don’t think that it’s not something I’m proud of like. I think that some people like I say what I think I might not and that not all my thoughts and to be outward like they don’t. But in my

20’s, I was like, oh, my God, this is getting too much for me like I had whatever you thought you said. And yeah, and now you’re just a little bit more. It’s

a very cute we’ve we’ve I will love it. It’s like it’s exactly what we wanted to be. But what do you have? You have you worked on one saying that it did one thing and my spoilers, my husband and I are in as the couple which is weird way, way wide. So okay when it was presented to us. Yeah, as they so clearly I’m going to be with says because I remember ending the show with wellness care care and the boy. That’s too weird for audiences. So now you asked Netanyahu really weird or so after

that play a married couple in the show. So he’s been training for the marathon with backs

as his coach. I don’t want so I do want to I don’t I support this, but I don’t actually partake in this. He’s been running with like celebs on this peloton thing. Is that what he’s doing? And that’s in our house late what he’s talking about. So all of that on all of this was shot in our house. So my kids and I are right. That’s our house like that. It’s our basement and there. He’s happy. He’s wanting. Haha. And yeah, this was all shot in the house and he he reached out to Peloton and

was like, hey, I’m going to run the marathon in order to help me raise money. Can I come on your platform? People can watch this one with me and donate to or not. I like you. Sure. And so we ended up calling all of our friends and was like I’m going to do this come and do with us. You say as if he hasn’t done enough? Well, you also do a lot. I mean, I’m awesome come. >> I was just thinking about when the war broke out in Ukraine that you and your husband, your born

in Ukraine. Now you guys just stepped up and said, you know what this is. This is something that matters to us. Yeah. >> I know. I look at what’s happening today and I look at every I mean, I cannot get there’s always something happening and you constantly feel like you want to try to help everybody all the same time to get some saying the overwhelming because there’s only so much you can do so little time when it came to Ukraine. It was like 48 hours after one. The prefix is and I can go and this

is going to come back. He kept saying this is going to come really bad. Our friends were in town from Kiev. We’re sitting on our couch and like you have to go back, right? And I know it’s going to be fine. There’s not be awarded the triage on the border. There’s no triage and it’s going to be fine. They went back less than 2 weeks later. War breaks out. He’s so there’s a part of that one. Okay. So now he’s going to do something about and we kept looking around. And then what was interesting was

people get training because I think because from Ukraine to keep turning to me going. >> What do we do to help what we do? And I was like asking me a minute. When you come

to New York, we got you a bullhorn with which we’ve had specially made it says run Ashton on it. You know, to him on the sidelines when you come to new this really work.

We thought we revisit a millennial law.

And she didn’t necessarily fit into the popular kids or, you know, the mean girls or the jocks or the reigns. You know, she she kind of had friends everywhere. But we’ll see later in securities out, you know, for everyone to kind of relate to. And I think that really resonated with people. You know, when I was shooting, that’s where I was obviously the same age as her. So is going through a lot of the same things and the writers would pull a lot

of and kind of like write them into the x-cel drama with friends or having to go shopping with my mom kind of being uncomfortable and let’s see in my own skin and falling down or, you know, whatever kind of what’s happening, not not that they took all of my life things, but it was very like similar what you know, what’s happening in my life and was happening in her life. And I definitely think that the brought the so it is one that stands out in my brain is being like Fresno, really wanting x. I thought

it was cool. I had fans that have stuck

by my side and, you know, followed me into the music career and back into acting again. And I’m a new show younger and and to see just, you know, people enjoying what I’m working on. You know, I feel lucky that I get to work on projects that I enjoy that I feel connected to land to know that so many people have holiday along the way. We’re just supporting me. Not even followed that supported me than kind to me. And really to me is is really nice to know that I need some sort of it. >>

Fun fact. There seems to be a social media campaign calling for a Lizzie reboot music group DNC event during Joe Jonas here to call for a comeback after posting a cover of doubt song. It feels so good. >> And now it’s unclear if or when we’ll see more. Lizzie, but I hope you enjoyed that, OK? That’s it for us. That was another fine pop star. Plus, join us again tomorrow for much more. Have a great day. >> Sponsored by walmart. >> What if we all welcome to today all day kitchen pasta is a staple for

so many week night meals it’s easy to make pretty hard to screw up. So satisfied. I’m making pillow we saw for cotton, you see with peas and Parma in a buttery sauce. >> And I couldn’t get the cream that you can still go out with baby Bella much room. >> I’m whipping up a spicy began a pasta alla vodka so start pulling some water, it’s time to use the noodle and let’s get cooking. >> You can shop the ingredients featured here from our sponsor wal-mart by scanning the qr code today earns a commission from purchases

made through links on today dot com. >> I have to admit pasta is one of my go to comfort food, so I am very excited to share this recipe with him the first thing we want to do is take our gorgeous ricotta and actually lay it out in a thin layer on paper towels since the ricotta is the the base of our dough we need to remove some of that moisture. So it ends up really nice and light and fluffy rather than death. It’s we are going to let this sit for about 12 to 15

minutes just to make sure that the paper towel of storms that moisture but lucky for me I made one before. Here is how it ends up looking one it is John. So

it creates a really light fluffy consistency. So now that this is looking really beautifully mixed together that is when we know it is time to start adding in our flower, it’s really important here to add your flour in a quarter cup at a time because we don’t want to develop too much fluid. But we also want to make sure that our ricotta stays nice and fluffy just going to delicately mix it. Until there are no more bits of flour and we’ll just keep next in our final quarter cup. There we go looking good. Now it

is time to shape our new e. >> We’re going to take our dough mixture and form it into it. But it feels so good it feels like a baby’s bottom can we use that in the final cut. >> It’s what it feels like OK and that’s going to dust the top with a bit more flour. >> And this is my favorite tool, whenever I’m making pasta also whenever and cooking to easily pick things up is called the bench. Scraper it’s typically used for decorating cakes making sure you have a nice smooth line of frosting around

your cake but it does such a good job of picking things up and it also does a great job of cutting things really even and we’re going to put this into quarters and the next thing we’re going to do as we’re going to roll this out into a beautiful snake that is about one inch thick. It feels so nice. So soft. I like to cut off the end first just because this and it doesn’t look as nice and then what I’ll do is I will just keep cutting. Little one inch pieces of pasta I look

at that they look like little pillows don’t they have beautiful us and what we’re going to do is we’ll take that same bench scraper that we have lift them up and transfer them to a parchment lined baking sheet all right and we’re just going to repeat this with our remaining pieces of neo Quito looking good. Before we Cook are you OK I want to get started on the star of ourselves. This is a lemon butter sauce so we are going to be using the zest and juice of 2 gorgeous lemons and I’m going to show

you my favorite way to prepare lemon zest so we’re just going to take the killer. And we’re on it. Along blanks wise on this lime and pulling the zest off. It smells amazing you

can see how beautiful. These strips are and then we’ll do is we’ll take these trends and turn them and we will run our nice across. And it took me a while to master these skills, let me tell you it really all comes down to practicing over and over and over again it’s really repetition here. And now I’m just going to take my nice around through this party was it smelling absolutely amazing. That’s asked though, I mean it’s like freshly fallen snow. Let’s clean up. >> Water Boylan and finish up this seat. >> Our water is

boiling it is time to Khobar Yogi, and you’ve got to pay attention because this all happens pretty quickly but I promise you you have all of the tools to absolutely crush it. The first we want to do is salt our water. I’m taking kosher salt. Okay, this is boiling beautifully and we can use our fingers to plop these in because let me tell you they are light and kill E and dropping them all in at once is going to cause them to smushed together. We want the U.S. to come in til, they floats to the

top okay, they basically tell us they’re like hey what’s that and then to save some time we are actually going to take our friends in key is and we’re going to pop those in as well so this pasta water is liquid gold. I call a Unicorn just got some cooking because all of the starch in the water itself is actually going to help find our sauce together and we’re going to start adding in our Q unsalted butter a couple tablespoons at a time you really want to be cold water because our goal here is to

really falsify everything takeaway us start with getting everything up is he starting to flow. And now we are ready to bring our sauce and our new you together I’ve actually turned off the Heat if it is too hot. It may cause your sauce to break so just make sure you turn that heat off. Next up we’re going to add and a half of our lemons asked to how good does this look okay next up we are going to slowly. Add in our car keep on mixing it back and forth so that it melts an ice

event action. It is smelling so good and as you can see it is really looking super glossy and it is he staying still is. So add in the lemon juice a little bit at a time. Again we want to also 5 us and we don’t want to freak out the gorgeous sauce that we just worked so hard to build. It is coating all of those beautiful pillows of me key and now it is time to play to that. Oh my gosh. How gorgeous does this look okay a little extra parm some freshly ground black pepper

and then I’ll take a little bit of trash in its. A little drizzle of olive oil gives the pasta gorgeous she and and there you go homemade ricotta new in a lab and daughter sauce with ease and. It is melting in my mouth, the par as the perfect amount of nuttiness and salting asked I don’t have any other words to say except. I know your gun a lot this. but this creamy comfort food Paris incredibly well with chicken but the best part about this dish is that it all comes together in one spot listen. This

is always a win in my kitchen, right so first we’re going to do is we’re going to make our driver, I like to use a little bit of smoked paprika you can use the regular pretty good too. But I think smoke flavor says bring a lot more body to your recipe. Then a little bit of dry time. And then a little bit of garlic powder. Give it a good swish all right now let’s move on to our chicken. I just got some lean says it was chicken. I’m not sure about you, but I like to

come on up into smaller pieces. The reason why it’s going to cook a lot faster all right John, let’s add this to our bowl get your hands all up in there don’t be scared to get your hands dirty. And it just brings up the cutting board want red lines that the mushrooms okay now I’m going to be using some baby Bella mushrooms I think they’re super delicious was going to slice it into small slices just like this. So that a ton of mushrooms here and you’re probably thinking okay that’s not going to fit in length

and don’t worry much of the kind of like spinach once you start cooking imminence of the 2 and a strip club really really small, so they will fit I promise you that. >> Our mushrooms are cut up the city’s aside and now we’re going to fire up a pan and get cooking we’re going to place this on a medium high heat. >> Okay, with it, nice and hot in goes the oil, this is a little bit of olive oil. A little bit of heart health little sprinkle of that then I can grab some tongs and

ngos our chicken. >> Well, that’s a sound when I see a nice color on the chicken. We go even want to put this for about 45 minutes on each side and then look at this and look at that beautiful color they can move it around a little bit you’re feeling brave you can go ahead and toss it, but again the no mask recipe so the police I’m committed to making it gets in. This chicken in just about ready to move my motion a little bit closer then he is much Hong’s let’s start taking up the

pieces of chicken. Oh my God look at that. It’s looking so good kid did that. If you’re not your best cheerleader in the kitchen, I don’t know what you’re doing that just give yourself a pat on the back and smell so good, it looks a bit. Exactly what we want. This will be here now I’m going to add in the mushrooms now now there’s a lot you can flavor here ready. So we want them. We’ve got a good sear here and when it’s going to will them a little bit by using a little bit of

chicken broth well, it’s a little bit this is to create some steam. And also this is going to help Tuesday glaze the bottom of our scale as well want to get my salt they on give me a little pinch of salt just a little bit. And the cool thing about mushrooms that has just drinking up to you know, they’re just soaking up all this flavor so people the safe like mushrooms unlike the man motions like labor bone, then make your mouth water is that Mommy factor more enough to mushrooms this year now we’re going to

read it, great a little bit of a thick gravy we’re going to add a little bit of flour I’m going to give this could toss. We’re going to add but what you come from. >> And what you’ll see here you’re going to still delays but you see now the chicken broth is really cloudy and that’s because he’s turning into that gray be that one also going to add in a little bit of this John. >> And just keep stirring keeps turn and this is looking beautiful all right now, let’s begin to bring everything together in

goes out. Chicken broth. There are some things grab yourself in a noodles sprinkle those on and then for in dressed that. And the noodles are going to absorb all of this liquid, that’s now like agree. We’re going to have to like someone you can see right here inside that a little light summer going. That’s just about right and then we’re going to cover and cook this for about 7 minutes. >> Oh my gosh I started these once they are looking good. Always check the noodles and if you’re thinking like kids look a little watery what

am I going to do. >> Don’t worry, I got to remember that it’s going to thicken up as it cools but also is going to thicken up because we’re going to add in are over now. We feel it is really high in protein and it’s really really really good. Look at this. It looks like they added cheese but not and this is our swapped for sour cream. >> Last but work we’re going to add in our chicken you can be here to smell it becomes can describe it. We need this moment, he’s from Willie wonka

some of the plate it here and finish it off with. We like some of the chicken fry, this chicken stroganoff you seeing it first here today and today on the beach. It was some fresh black pepper. Look at that. I don’t know about y’all. But I’m excited about it. Get a little bit of a mushroom little bit it all and then some of this second, I mean chicken. >> Well my >> with some good happy and church. There you go haha I guarantee your friends and family are going to love this dish. many pasta dishes

I mean over the years one of my absolute favorites Penney all about. So today, I’m getting that beautiful thing sauce we can make over. I’m going to miss on that can to let’s get started with a crunchy bread crumb topping so first I might get a small skillet over medium-low heat and we’re going to add in a little bit of olive oil. So far right comes we’re going to take a break proms I love using panko because it’s extra crime she and its place so we can add anything to it and even Billy those flavors

and the way we’re going to do that is by adding some red Chile flakes because we want this spicy and the little bit of not make for really round out this waivers and at that 38.

We just want to get a small dice on this. And next up the garlic we’re using about 4 cloves of garlic I just like to give them a light rushed to help me with the shopping process. Another great way to prep all of this is actually just blitzing it up in a food processor just putting it on chopped and giving it a few pulses and it all the roughly chopped so

you want to start off with really large pan and get it over medium-high heat. All of oil. And one tablespoon of the butter. Traditional bought the sauce is so indulgent and creamy so we’re at a few options to help bring that creaminess to the sauce so now that oil is hot. The fire is sizzling, let’s go on with our onion and garlic. >> Want to get some salt and at this point because that’s going to help the eye and sweat out all of them. I said this a spicy bought the sauce so. Now coming in

are spicy elements were going to add some chilly place. Well, let’s not stop there. Every in Chile. The location. These for about 5 minutes until the onions are sweating in almost translucent so now let’s go and with our tomato paste the tomato paste is going to add basically we concentrated tomato flavor so it’s going to feel like we’ve been cooking the sauce all day but really we have it. Some get this for free to into the onions so the star of the show some vodka know this is not a shot for me this is for

the pasta maybe that will be late. >> So once the athabasca and all that alcohol is going to evaporate who don’t have to worry about any alcohol actually being in there with the flavor of the Baca will become concentrated which is what adds that unique flavor to block the sauce which I happen to love. >> We’re going to go in with some crushed tomatoes. I’m going with a little sugar. Now don’t hate on this this is really going to help balance the flavors again there’s a lot of acidity of the tomatoes and then we also

have a lot of spice so the sugar is going to help round everything out as well as some dried oregano so I I like to take this and rub it in between my fingers to get the oils in the right to know activated. We want our spicy bought the sauce to be smooth and silky and in order to achieve that we’re going to use an immersion blender. This looks great look how vibrant that is really starting to look like a sauce. So now we’re going to add a few dairy elements to our sauce we’re going

to add a little bit of Eagan Kremer as well as some vegan cream cheese we want to make sure to incorporate all of that in and you could see the color is this beautiful light orange watch this awesome color. And one full spring, a fresh face off we’re going to let that simmer with the sauce. Okay, let’s check in our pasta water. It’s boiling before we do anything we always want to salt our pasta water. And now for our pasta I just want to show you guys. So this is called a colony palm pay I

think any means COLUMN and Pompei is obviously a city in Italy that to me it’s just a beautiful large few silly and it looks delicious to be so we’re going to get these it. This pasta is so big it takes about 10 or 12 minutes to cook so I’m gonna start cleaning up and get everything out of the way and get ready to play it. Our hospital looks ready. So let’s add it into a lot of us. >> So fun that the swirls and this is like oh this is our starchy salted water so we’re

actually going to lail into our pasta to make and it so want to make sure to check we combine this with sauce because we don’t want to break up our poll showing some world pasta look how fun, this looks I’m so excited to be there. But spy chief right. So it’s not completely cool so we can use user and Stu garnish it is if we were punishing with Parmesan and then if you want to be extra fancy. Spring. OK I’ve waited long enough so we’re now ready to dig in. I’m so excited to shave we

like the proper ways. I think that I’m proud so this and so fun little of that. Chefs yes, this is delicious. >> This morning on today, climate a closer look at an endangered species that’s releasing some promising rebounds in recent years. Yeah, sea turtles are thriving but there is a catch. The baby’s being born almost entirely female. Yeah. That is a sign of disturbing. >> Note on our climate. Kerry Sanders is on a boat off the coast of Palm Beach County, Florida this morning. Kerry, you can help release some of those little turtles back into

the ocean. Good morning. >> Well, this is really such a hopeful moment. But first, we’ll take you down here and show you the turtles here. And as you noted, so many of them better being born are females but not males. That’s where that term of hot chicks cool dude comes from. But we’re going to release these in a moment. You can see some of the scientists are already out there in the water. I’m going to get in position in joined them. And then in a moment, we’re going to release these now into the water. It

all begins on moonlit stretches of beach like this one in Florida longer head turtle laying her eggs all’s well. But for one twist, chances are high that every egg laid will hatch. >> As a female should typically drop anywhere from one to 3, 4, innings at the time. >> A sea turtle sex is determined not by chromosomes, but by the temperature of the sand where they hatch at the sustained warmer weather due to global climate change means more females. >> And far fewer males. A lot of the eggs are actually developing as females just because

the nest temperatures tend to be higher on than they’ve been in the past. >> Biologist point out the obvious imbalance of more girls than boys could have drastic consequences for the species where seeing more and more years when. >> If you’re patient, temperatures are producing 100% female mask. That’s a problem. >> In her lab at Florida Atlantic University Doctor Janet, why Nick and has spent 2 decades tracking sea turtle hatchlings are concerns are. >> Obviously that eventually the males that are servicing this population will die out. >> Almost every species of sea turtle is considered

endangered or threatened. 40 years ago. Sea turtle nests were in critical decline. The preservation efforts allowed for a remarkable comeback. This season, a record nesting year along the East Coast. Even if those nests will hatch, mostly females. Odds are one in the finals and a turtle hatched on the shoreline will make it to adulthood. But here, 7 miles out to sea off the coast of Riviera Beach, Florida. If the U researchers along with the conservation nonprofit up well, we believe baby sea turtles released far from shore line predators. They improve their chances of survival biologist

tracking their movements and behaviors with antennas. >> Helping us understand what happens and the 99% of life is key. The turtles are spending out in the open ocean. We can get a better understanding of how and where and when we should reduce threats to turtles to keep them alive and safe from the ocean environment. >> First scientist with the window into the undersea world of turtles unlocking their secrets of survival. >> And so we’re bouncing around out here. I’m with you that one of her students, Emily, that, first of all, how does it feel at

this moment? So, yeah, it seems like making some news here because you have about 30 some odd. We’re going to explain to the sexes or it’s hot Chick said. But you’ve got about a 50, 50 split here. And I think we’re all kind of like holding our breath for this moment to watch them released and George showing jurors on board there. So, George, I want to get out of the way to do what you do with these as we all hold their breath, including here in the studio. I step down here hands and that our

first hurdle, George explains what happened in the bucket. >> We’re here in the bucket. We have a batch of baby loggerhead turtles are about 3 months old. They weigh between around 150 to 300 grams. The larger ones, about 300 grams. And these are many of these turtles are turtles that have been rehab and turtles that are are now healthy and ready to go and take off on their journey out into the the studio. >> Question about of late. We’ll bring this one down to Emily. I enjoy. >> A Georgia if you can hear we were

we were all curious about if it’s safe for them to be dropped off so far out into the ocean has reached to seeing them on land in the sand. >> Well, that’s a great question. The typically, you know, if we were targeting an area, what we think is actually going to be better for these turtles are really side because there’s lots of sargasso men and seaweed mats out there where the turtles can seek shelter and find prey and Griffin by doing this. There were actually given what we call a jump start. They’re avoiding that near

soar. Are predators like our band and snappers and snow in Jax. That would would probably graciously these little guys. flip or yeah. And that all of those have those little trackers on him. >> No. So these turtles are releasing right now. Do not have the trackers on. But in a moment, I’m going to pull out a turtle with a satellite tag on it. And I’ll tell you a little bit about the tag and what we hope to learn and then all really settle alongside these other turtles. At least one more turtle here I don’t forget

to right now and I’m going to pull out this little guy. >> This is so what you’re looking at here is a satellite tag minutes or satellite tag made by a company named Low Tech wireless tank based in Canada, New Zealand. And this tag actually has a solar panel on it. The has a this is a kind act of the sensors. A salt water switch recall it with these 2 little holes. It’s tell us where the metal one, the turtles out of the water and then it begins to transmit. The data is sent through this

antenna, too satellite. And that data is what’s telling us where these turtles are going, what they’re doing, how they were still, how they’re responding to the ocean environment. And this is a really novel tag. This is a first a prototype, first of its kind of this size for this purpose on small turtles. So we’re super excited about that. And this time also has the capability to record death. So we’re learning about the turtles dive. >> And that, yeah, by the defect had bothered to a handoff to. >> You know, the tags are very, very light.

These are 2 Graham tags. So a very a very small fraction of the total body weight and their attachment that we use on these tags is designed to actually said from the turtle. So we’ll get about we should get about 2 months of data may be a little more and and then there and then the total carry on and we’d be thrilled if we got 2 months a day out of probably gets good grades, shell service. >> Oh, that’s a great and George, that’s a great thing. You can do that about your friends there at

the lab. Haha, thank you to or you so much, George in Cary us. Yeah, really, really cool. Thank you. You’re welcome. Thank you so much now. >> Kerry just got caught up in Eastern Australia or and the team Emily, but to actually see this line just credible or really taken by the fact that they’re releasing these turtles, if everything goes well, where was called the Gulf Stream, they might be in a month or so off the coast of New England. So really incredible guy that school Moore. Thank you, Carrie. >> Wires to me. It just

And you know, first. >> It’s a love for tending plants cultivated at a young age in a multigenerational immigrant family. >> I was the one that really enjoyed helping my mom and my grandma out in the garden. >> That early farming fantasy was lost to the realities of adulthood. He never got growing up in Cambodia. >> My wife and I we grew up happy Little family life because I’m a parent have to make a living. mean, I probably could. I probably have. All right. So our. >> See that was you too. Thank you. What does the trick to spreading sauce appropriately and well? >> So you want to I we start the middle and then I just I circle out like this and I push push the sauce. The sides like a little bit of like no says so. Take a big handful. The cheese and I will say I’m gonna give you a little. She’s pretty nice here. Okay. To start high.
