Who Was Anne Frank?/ Kids' book review/ 'Who was' series/ Ann Abramson/ Biography/ WW-II Holocaust

Hi
everybody and welcome back to my channel.
It’s me
Jenisha Stanley again, and today I’m
going to review the book
‘who was Anne Frank?’. This book was written
by Ann Abramson an illustrated by Nancy
Harrison.
This book has 103 pages, and 10 chapters
including the timeline of Anne Frank and
the world.
Well who is Anne Frank?. Well
Anne Frank is a 13 year old Jewish girl
that and her family they all had to hide
in a secret hideout
for about 25 months. Anne Frank
was born on June 12 ,1929
to Otto and Edith Frank. she had an
elder sister named Margo. The Franks
lived in Germany.
But even though they lived in Germany
they weren’t Germans.
They were German Jews,
and they followed a religion called
Judaism, and Anne Frank’s family
actually celebrated this kind of holiday
called
Hanukkah. Even non-Jews,
others came to celebrate it with them,
and
in 1933 Adolf Hitler became
chancellor and took charge.
Anne’s family feared Hitler a lot.
So they had to, they… they fled Germany
and arrived at the Netherlands, in a city
called Amsterdam.
But then in 1942,
Germans attacked the Netherlands, and
up the Nazi flags went, and even in

park
benches there were signs that said
‘Forbidden to Jews’, that… that’s kind of
unfair.
And then they had to move into this
special hideout in 1942.
Now I’m going to tell you about the
hideout the franks moved into,
and what was it to live in the… in the
hideout. And guess what,
this small bookcase people might think
it is a bookcase,
but guess what, it’s actually a secret
door. There…
there’s stairs, there are lots of rooms,
and Anne had to share a room with Margo,
and then
ended up sharing a room with the with a
guy named
Fritz. And it’s and there’s,
it’s really, even though it is on two
floors, it the… the whole size of the
hideout was only 50 square yards.
And guess what, behind this bookcase
there’s…
there are two rooms, a small kitchen with
a sink
and a bathroom. A total of eight people
lived in the hideout. One of them is the
Vaughan Palace family,
one of the Frank family’s friends, and
then
the frank’s family with four, and then
this guy
named Fritz, and then
on Anne’s 13th birthday she got a diary
from her parents, and she named it ‘Kitty’.
Because she had nothing to do, she wrote
in the diary every day.
She always started her diary entry with
‘Dear Kitty’,
and told her all that had gone that…
all that had been done during the day,
and like, did she have a quarrel with her
friends?,
did she ride her bike outside?, well, what
did she do?,
all of it is in her diary.
But soon all of her pages were filled up.
So someone brought in more papers so Anne could keep
writing to kitty, and then on
June… July 15 ,1944 she wrote
‘I think it will all come right that this
cruelty too will end
well’. What does that mean?, that means Anne thought that the war would end
soon. but sadly on august 4th, 1944
everyone was captured. Someone betrayed
everyone in the hideout.
So someone gave information to the
Germans about the hideout, is because someone
heard screaming below,
and then they saw that
it was soldiers. So all of the boys went
to the men’s
concentration camp, while the girls went
to the women’s concentration camp.
Out of the eight people, only one of them
survived,
Otto Frank, and he thought maybe we can
reunite the family.
But when he got there he learned that
Anne, Margot and Edith were all
gone. The only thing that was left of the
family
was Anne’s diary. So
a family friend hoped to give it to Anne,
but she gave it to
Otto, and Otto read it over and
over and over, and then he decided to
publish it.
He plugged, he published it as the ‘Secret
Annex in 1947’,
and then later, he changed the name
to ‘Anne Frank: Diary of a young girl’.
It was translated into more than 70
languages,
and can you believe that, and in 1960
the the hideout was opened in public,
and that’s what, if you visit the
Netherlands
tell them… tell your parents to go to
Amsterdam
with you. So you can go to that hideout,
and if you go up near a bookcase open it.
It’s not just a bookcase,
it’s actually a door, and
you could also get Anne’s diary. There are
lots of copies of it
sold. If you have a copy of Anne’s diary,
if you didn’t finish reading it, go ahead
and flip to the last page,
and these are the last words and wrote
into kitty
on august 3rd, 1944, the day before they
were captured.
‘In spite of everything, I still believe
that people are really good at heart’.
If you already finished reading this a
few times, you should remember that.
And everyone go and read this book to
learn more
about the real Anne Frank, the hideout,
and most importantly
her diary, and small bits of world war II
that were on.
