i built a *valentine's day* house in the sims!
The vibes of Valentine’s Day are so fun. Like all the hearts, the pink, everything about that is so fun. I don’t really care about the whole romance aspect of Valentine’s Day, but going purely off of decor vibes, Valentine’s Day kind of wins. I decorate my house like that year round. Like, give me everything pink and heart-shaped please. So in order to celebrate Valentine’s Day, I feel like we should try to channel that into a Sims build. I was looking at this house, and I feel like these people have the exact right kind of energy. The
lights, all of the hearts everywhere, like this is what I want to try to achieve in The Sims. And we actually have quite a few things that’ll work really well for this because Seasons has so much decor, like the little garlands. Those are hearts. Even like this thing in pink and red. This comes with heart swatches on it. I mean, we’ve got so many possibilities, so I’m thinking we try and use all of these things and just really go all out in the build. Every time I start a build like this I always have no
clue what the actual house is going to look like. I’m like way too busy thinking about the decor and the color scheme, and then I realize like oh, yeah
cute. Although, maybe I should use fake dormers. Maybe the ones that just come in the game are probably better than the real ones. I don’t think that these are going to come in pink though, and I kind of wanted to have a pink roof. None of the roofs in this game are the sort of pink that I’m looking for — like this is too light and too shiny so I don’t like it, and this one is almost leaning a little bit orangey. Like it looks kind of purple in the picture, but then you actually place
it down and it’s just not. But maybe if we tried something like that and then just used like some cute scallops — I don’t know, we can make this work. I don’t know, it kind of looks a bit reddish and I guess that’s kind of the vibe. I’m really going for pink more so than red, but it is Valentine’s Day so like both will do. And then if we just get like a plain gabled roof — it’s really not not going to be anything too fancy on this exterior. The shape can be simple because we’re
going to make it fancy with decor. Look at these — these cute little spandrels. I think that’s perfect for this. Maybe I’ll use like fancy vampire fences too, I don’t know. It might be a little excessive to be using the vampire pack for this one, but I feel like it looks good. Okay, so imagine there’s like a small pathway right here — I might have to scoot this whole thing forward a bit. Okay, so on the side of the building, quite simple, just want to have a small back door so you can get outside, and
there’s going to be like maybe one bedroom in this house. I’m warning you now. It’s not big, it’s so tiny. I really didn’t mean for it to be this small, it just sort of like happened like that, but it is still cute. Okay, so I’m thinking this part becomes a bathroom. Unless… Oh, wait. Ooh, where does the staircase go? Hm. Okay, the squareness of this build is kind of posing a problem. Maybe the kitchen could go in this area. We could probably build a bathroom right here. So it could be kind of like this, like
bathroom here, a little hallway to access the back door. We’ll do a kitchen in this nook and then a dining table, and it’s just a small open living room. Okay, and then with the upstairs, I think we might actually be able to get a second bedroom. Just imagine for a second that like this is the bathroom right here, and then we get a teeny tiny bedroom in this area. It is really small, but you could totally fit a single bed in there for a kids bedroom, and then we have a bigger primary bedroom here. Two
bathrooms is maybe a bit much for a house of this size, but I guess I shouldn’t complain. And then I figure I’ll want to duplicate the back porch just like that. It can be kind of the same thing on both sides, it’s fine. Unless we make it a bit bigger on the back so we have more space to put a table out there because there’s not really room for a backyard. Okay, I think this works. I think this makes sense. I’m going to go through now and add in some details, things like columns because then
we can actually paint the house and start thinking about all those Valentine’s vibes that we’re going for. I hate this. There’s a bug right now with single tile roofs, where you see how this is like not the normal texture? It’s supposed to be this — the drywall texture except it’s like grayed out. You can kind of see it a bit more whenever you try and put anything up there. Like this is supposed to be brick, but it like stretches it somehow. Do you see that? That’s been happening for a couple months now, so we have
to try and work around that a little bit. I guess I’ll just try and make it look like it’s a different texture on purpose, and that’s one way to get around it. If I use Strangerville windows is that like completely horrible, or is it cute? I do like the Strangerville windows and I like that they are pink, I’m just kind of concerned right now that the pink doesn’t match the roof. But it won’t match the roof, will it? This is The Sims 4. Like, nothing is ever going to match the way that we want it
to. Maybe they’re better if they’re white because then I can use a slightly fancier door. Could use red. Red is Valentine’s Day, but I’m not doing that. I don’t think I can bring myself to do that. Oh my gosh, there’s a rainbow swatch on this? Oh, I don’t think I ever noticed that before. Okay, something to keep in mind I guess. We shall keep that in mind for the future. I do want to bring a Sim here because I have a couple of ideas. I want to have a child make me some Valentine’s decor, like
on the little craft table, and I also want to use the decor box, so I’m going to bring Stanley and that random kid in just for us to experiment a little bit. Everyday decorations. I want to look at the fence decor because I think there’s some really cute little flags and stuff. Like this one has hearts. I don’t know if that’s good. Oh no, look at these. Oh my gosh. Stop. That is so cute. Okay, we have to use those. I think as far as eaves decorations go, I might actually put up some lights. We’ve
got these red, pink, and white large lights. Let me see if that looks good on the roof lines. Oh. Maybe that’s too much. Do you think putting the hearts on the spandrel and the fence is too much? Oh wait, that’s really cute. Okay, maybe I’ll try and do something bigger on the fence then. Oh. I mean that — it’s Valentine’s vibes. I think it might be okay. I really like the little hearts on the spandrel — I think that’s definitely the best part. I’m going to use this dark red painted brick as the foundation everywhere.
I don’t know how that’s going to be from the inside, but we’ll see. I’m not so sure about this building. And then, back doors — I think I want to use… Honestly maybe just the Cats and Dogs one. It can take up a lot of space over there. Now we just look through literally everything that comes in Seasons to find like any sort of Valentine’s decor that might work. I think that these little spring wreaths are kind of cute. We’ve got these heart cards. We have to use those inside. Does this doormat come in hearts?
Oh my god, that’s actually really cute. See, that’s the kind of thing I would buy in real life. I think that’s really adorable. I probably would prefer it to not have as much red in real life, but I like the vibes of that. Now does the place get painted pink? That is the important question. I think it looks kind of bad when it’s painted pink. I don’t want to do it white because I literally just built a house a couple days ago that was all white like this, but it was white and green, not white
and hearts. I do kind of like the paneling. Wow, the red is a lot. Whoa. Maybe not that paneling. It really just is so annoying trying to match it with stuff because it doesn’t match the roof. I guess I should let go of the matching thing because I’m not trying to make it match, I’m trying to make it hearts. It’s two different things. I do think that this color brick helps because it kind of matches the roof a bit better, so that brings it around the side of the building. And imagine like once we have
landscaping, it’s going to be fine, it’s all going to come together. On the back I hate how the windows look, but I’m just going to pretend that it’s not happening because I need to have windows that look good from the inside. Is there a pink wood floor? No, that would be too easy. We do have some fun stuff, like this might be cute for the kids room, and we can do a couple of different pink tiles in the bathrooms. I love love love love love this chevron tile. The Country Kitchen kit, I got to say
it, I’m not really that pleased with how it’s like so rustic. I don’t think that rustic is really the vibes for the inside of this place. The other option is to use the Cottage Living one. I’m not really that into the Cottage Living one, but it does have red and pink. Like the cabinets are red, but the curtain swatches on it are all pink. Okay, hold on. What if we did something like this so you can actually see the curtains? No, no, no, no, no, no, no, sorry. I was going to try and have the
pink with it, but I don’t know if we should do that. I will admit that it looks interesting with the pink and the red, it’s just, this is so not my vibe. I think that’s what’s throwing me, I’ve never ever desired to use these red curtains, so as I’m sitting here trying to make it work with the red and the pink, it’s just I don’t know, it’s making me feel weird. I might not end up putting a window there. I know that sounds bad, but it may actually be for the best. I want to get
the kid to draw a couple things. Can you please make some romantic things? There’s like heart decor, and I want that stuff. Stanley’s going to cook something apparently. This might end up being cards, but I want like a wall item. Yeah, that one’s cards. I want like a wall item. Oh, don’t go to school. You have to skip school, I’m sorry, we have big plans. Let me cheat your creativity need too. Stop. Don’t call me, principal. These are going to be cards again. I trusted you. Oh, no it’s not. Oh, see! That’s that’s what I’m
talking about. I need stuff like that. Oh, speaking of holidays, we got Summer Holiday standing outside the front door. Oh, Stanley’s going to pee his pants. Sorry, we don’t have a toilet yet. That’s my bad. Oh, is that one like a picture? Is that it? Okay, I don’t want these quests. Look at how laggy it gets with those quests. There is one other garland thing in particular that I want, so I’m going to have her keep doing this until I get it. Okay, that’s not the one, but it’s okay, I’m not going to be mad
about extra garland. Stanley, you talking to her is like really throwing off the vibes. We’re kind of in a rush, we can’t be distracted right now. Okay, she made the same thing like three times. That’s fine, we can use this around in a few different places, and that’ll probably be good enough for now. I’ve also made it a little bit tight in here, so I need to rethink the living room layout just a bit. I don’t really like this rug, but I think I might use this rug for the living room. I made it quite
small in here when I put the island in, and I think it’s worth having the island, we just have to keep in mind that we don’t really have a lot of space for tables and chairs and things anymore. I want to raise this piece of garland up and put it in in the entryway like above the door. You can tell that it’s sized up because you can see the shadow there, but just ignore it, okay? Just ignore that part. I’m not going to use the chimney for an actual fireplace, so this might be a good
spot for us to put a desk and a computer. Oh, the heart chair. Come on, we have to do that. Anything that has a heart, that’s what we need to use. This? Are you joking? Perfect. I don’t think it comes in red. Ooh, I’ll use it in pink. I’ve got these cute little hearts too that could go up somewhere. We’ve got the heart bed. No, I don’t think that one matches that well, so I won’t use that. We do have these little things, and those are so cute to line the walkway. I think the teddy
bear is a necessity too. Okay, say we do all the walls everywhere pink just for a second. Behind this, I want to get some sort of pink tile or red tile. The bonus of the pink tile is that it kind of like isn’t as scary-looking. The red tile is a bit much. We could do that though because the kitchen is very red. I’m going to use my favorite chevron wood floor because I think that’s kind of a romantic color scheme. I’m, I hate to say it, really tempted to use that rug. I think that kind
of helps to tie a lot of the vibes together. Look at all this Seasons stuff. There’s like wedding decals and heart decals. We’ve got pretty curtains. There’s like pink stuff that hangs from the ceiling. How are you supposed to even know what to do and like how much to use? That looks terrible inside because of the lights glitch. I think this is made to go outside instead. Oh, I am so silly. Look, these are different. I fully thought they were the same thing. They’re actually different, one of them is like a garland, the other one
is cards. Okay, well I’ve got a lot of the cards, plus the regular game has cards so we’ve got cards everywhere. Oh my god. Just when you think it can’t get any more scary, then there’s something else. I’m actually going to use these. I know it’s a lot, okay, I know it’s a lot. I’m going to use that because I like how I can make it big and get kind of like my own custom table thing going on. I can also raise up a TV and put it on top. And then imagine I just take
this and like put some tables under it so it looks like it has legs. I think that works. I can center the rug in there. We totally have to have rocking chairs outside on the porch. I don’t know about that color, but we’ll see. And then, I guess any sort of chair — it doesn’t have to be red and it doesn’t have to match, just like a pink chair will probably do. This is so so so chaotic. I didn’t realize I was going to make it this chaotic when I set out to do it. I
guess I should have known. We all should have known. We knew I was the one building it, like we could have seen this coming from a mile away. Oh, pretty. Oh, that has Valentine’s energy. Oh my. Okay, so in the bathroom I’ve used like all the pink stuff. I don’t know if putting one of those card garland things up on the wall is a good idea, but it does look cute. The other option is to use the default garland, and I mean dare I say, wrap it around the entire room. I did a house kind
of like this but with Christmas decor for Christmas a couple months ago and that was really fun, but there’s something about Christmas decor that like when you do it to an extreme like this, it doesn’t feel as bad. Now that I’m sitting here doing it with the red and the pink, the red and the pink feels worse than like red and green. Maybe it’s just because we are collectively more accustomed to Christmas decor being excessive. Like it just feels more normal, but this is a lot. This is a lot. My grandma always puts the Christmas
cards up like on the stairs like this. It’s annoying because it’s clipping, but I’m just going to ignore that part, and I’ll try and copy her with the card decor up on the wall like that. How far can I scoot this and not have it clip? Not very far. I guess we can put a dining table on the back patio, so we don’t need to fit one inside, it would just be nice to have one inside, but I guess it’s not the end of the world if we can’t fit it in there because I don’t
know where the dining table would go. We’re like completely out of space. Oh my gosh, there’s like a little dessert tray that comes in pink. I’ve got a pot that comes in pink. Oh, this is pretty. Let’s put that on the patio. Because we have some space that I don’t really know what to do with, I’ll just put that there so it looks like it kind of is mirroring the door. Does this come in any sort of Valentine’s Day vibes? Not really, it’s more about Seasons than about holidays. This one comes with a heart. I
don’t know if doing that is like doing too much, but I can’t really sit here and say oh, that’s too much after I just did all that stuff downstairs, so maybe it’s fine. Okay, we’ve got like a little cabinet. Maybe I use the mat again and we use it like a bathmat this time, so that’s both of the bathrooms finished. Also, downstairs we just got to get in some more clutter I guess. I’m trying to think of things like the umbrella, you know? I moved the bookshelf over here because it takes up more of the
space in this room. I need to find something to put here. Oh, wait a minute. Hold on. Undo. Go back to where it was. This might be a good spot for one of those like hutch cabinets. It is not a dining room, but we can pretend. I’ll put that there. I think we need some more red back here by the back somehow because it’s very red-heavy on this half, but there’s not really much going on over here. We do have access to those little flags that match the ones from the outside. I don’t know, this
is like a lot. This is like entirely too much all the way across that back wall, but maybe I could do that, and then I guess we could move the cards to be over there somehow, or the cards could stay. It’s all clipping kind of annoyingly, but that’s not that big of a deal. Yeah, this is a lot. This is a lot to look at, it’s a lot to take in. This does come in a bright red color. Oh my, I’m sorry everybody. This is like, it’s really a lot. I know that it’s a lot,
and I don’t know why I’m making you watch this. I should probably get a fire alarm too, huh? Any sort of fire alarm will do. We’re just, we’re going to need one. If I’m going to ever use this house, I’m going to need one. I think I should use that same rug for the front door, or maybe this one could be pink. It’s bigger and a different color. Oh my god, this place is so much. Just don’t think about it, okay? I’m thinking I’ll use the base game table in kind of like a plain white
color, but then I want to get red chairs. I was kind of thinking about these dining chairs — these are the ones from the rent pack. Because we could do that and then have some sort of like big floral arrangement on the table that brings everything together. I could probably get a grill too. Oh, that comes in red. Oh my god. This is nice though. I might even use the same ceiling lamp on the outside. I don’t really need to, but it does have the hearts and it’s kind of fun, so I might try it.
That might be the whole downstairs finished. I do need to move this dirty cup because one of them tried to get some water, so maybe I could move that and then get some flowers instead. Oh, this one’s pretty. That kind of has like the bouquet you got given for Valentine’s Day energy. We can put that over there. All right, I think that’s the downstairs done then. Upstairs, there’s not too much that can be added in this hallway. Obviously it’s quite small, so I don’t want to like put a ton of furniture up here and make
it impossible to use. I might just get one single plant. Sometimes I put an extra thermostat even when it’s only a small house just because that way it’s easier for me to not forget where it is. I can’t do that, can I? It’s too much. It’s too much, Kayla, even for you. This bed looks like it’s shaped like a heart, but I don’t think it’s going to work. I might just go for something a little bit simpler. We can always mix and match in some other colors elsewhere. That is the cutest thing I’ve ever seen,
the little bear is adorable and perfect for this. Oh, should I have used some curtains downstairs? I don’t know, I hadn’t really thought about it like that. It might be good to get some just across that, plus we can always use the curtain rod from the Desert Luxe kit so it looks like it is one curtain and you can’t see the hole in the middle. I feel like that’s a nice touch. No. No, I was going to try that, but no, I won’t be using it. What are our thoughts on these little stars? Is that
cute? I don’t know. What else does the kid need? I guess I’ve been trying to have them do a lot of art, so it would be kind of fun if we put in one of those art tables. The science table might fit a bit better. No, if we space this appropriately, it’ll be okay. Ooh, there’s a car version. Oh, and the violin comes in pink too. Oh, we could totally use that also. Okay, so there’s a couple skill items. This is absolutely horrendous. I think it needs to be more plain. We can’t, it can’t be
this busy, it just can’t. You know how we have these really cute little star lights? I wish they were hearts. Wouldn’t that be so pretty? We’ve got stars and we’ve got flowers. Maybe I’ll do the flower ones instead. The flowers are kind of cute. Oh, these are pretty. Oh my god, I have no free wall space. Maybe that could go in this hallway. That might look — Oh, that’s not the hallway. That’s — Okay, it works there though. That’s okay. Aw, look at the little unicorn. That’s cute, we should use that. Okay, I don’t really
know what else to add to this kids room. I’m scared of making it too full. I don’t think that anything in this house looks very good right now, so I’m just kind of making do with what I have. Let’s use this bed from the Modern Luxe kit because I think that it helps with the walls being so busy. We’ll get something more plain. Okay, this rug is meant to
go underneath a toilet, but you can’t tell because of the bed on top of it. It has sort of that purpley tone that some of the birds have. Those curtains are the ones from Seasons that kind of match the decor. I guess it doesn’t — Uh-oh, I can’t change the — Oh no. You guys — Oh, there we go. I was going to say the rug is kind of stuck, but no I fixed it, it’s fine. I don’t think I like the rug, I’ve changed my mind about the rug. Ooh, flower petals. See, there’s too
many options. Oh, this would have been so cute, the little pastel rug. Yeah, our house is a mess. There’s like two different kinds of pretty romantic Valentine’s Day vibes. There’s like cutesy pastel stuff from the Pastel Pop kit, and then there’s like red, and we’ve used a lot of the red energy in this house, I don’t know if that’s a good or a bad thing, it just is what it is. Oh my god. I need to use this somewhere. Where can I use this? What do I do? Should I switch the TV? Maybe I switch
the TV. Wait, I totally forgot about that thing. We have to use that thing. That is so cute. I’ll put a smaller TV. It’s fine. We’ve got a little plant, that kind of works, and this makes the chair fit better anyway so it’s probably for the best. I love these little hearts. These are from the Outdoor Retreat pack, so you might not even realize they exist, but they even come in rainbow. I think they’re so cute. So, I originally had this downstairs on the first floor, I’m kind of starting to think that that was maybe
a bad idea and I should put something else over here. I kind of want to do like a rat instead. I know that’s so silly, okay? I know that me saying oh, I don’t like the desk, let me put a rat is like really a chaotic thing to do, but isn’t that cool? When else can you have a rat? Like this is the time, so I kind of want to try and do it now, plus then we can have a little desk corner kind of thing over here in the bedroom, which I think maybe is
better. All right, something simple like that in the bedroom is kind of cute. That’s a nice way to fit everything in, it’s fully functional, and that kind of just leaves us with the rest of the exterior to do now. I am obsessed with how the color scheme is looking with like all the little hearts. At this point it’s essentially just flowers though, we want to get some pretty trees, pretty flowers, all that to help fill in the area. And while I do this, let me give you a little life update, which is actually kind of
an unpleasant life update. I tested positive for COVID this morning. Dan had kind of like a runny nose and a bit of a cough, so we were like oh, we should take a COVID test. Well, uh-oh, we both have COVID. I feel mostly okay right now. I feel like I’m kind of sick, but I don’t feel horrible. I had COVID a couple years ago and I felt horrible, but it’s only like the first day, so I don’t really know what to expect, so I’m kind of like rushing to finish this video because I’m like, what
if I feel sick tomorrow and then I can’t record, you know, so that’s where I’m at. I’ll let you know how that goes. Fingers crossed we’re okay. I mean, we’re like many boosted with the vaccine and everything, but obviously it is never fun to be sick, so that’s not ideal. Okay, I think honestly just a variety of different pink flowers in this area is kind of what I’m going for. Well, maybe I don’t do the bushes there and we do just pink flowers in the front instead, and like multiple kinds of pink flowers. Oh my
gosh, in the evening with the pink sky behind it, that’s so good. I’m having a great time right now. Yeah, yeah, yeah, okay, something like that. Just lots of pretty pretty pretty pink stuff everywhere. We could probably do like more simple bushes on this side, and then I was honestly kind of picturing that I would just like wrap some bushes around there. It’s only a small lot, so we’re kind of like done with the landscaping now. I just got to fill in this little area pretty much. That’s called Passion’s Kiss. Whoa, okay. I never really
noticed that before. I do need a trash can, we have a mailbox, so that covers all of the necessities out here. I’ll kind of just stick it by the back door, easy access from the kitchen. And I kind of want to get some more of these little hearts. These little heart stakes are so cute. I wonder if I could line them like back behind this bush. I don’t know, it only looks good from a certain angle. It doesn’t look good always, but it’s, I mean, I think it’s fine. It’s always fun to have more, right?
Oh, also on this porch, I need to fix these. I’ll probably put something like that there. Maybe I could get a little drinks tray or something too because that could be kind of fun — sit out, drink some lemonade on the front porch, celebrate Valentine’s Day. I do need a couple extra lamps. And then last, I just need a couple extra lights by the front door and stuff, and I think that the whole house might be done. No, sorry. Last, I need to put terrain paint. I almost forgot, that would be important. Okay, hold on.
I’ll just go through and put some dirt underneath all these bushes. There’s even some kind of pretty grass terrain paint that has like pink flowers in it. Maybe I can mix in some of that in a few corners too. I like to just put some of this in some places. I don’t want to fill the whole thing, but I think it’s nice to have like little bits of little like wild flowers growing. All right, and I think that makes the house done. I used quite a few packs, but I think this has been a fun exercise in like decor vibes because Seasons has a lot of stuff that I kind of forget exists. Honestly, I had never seen these heart garland pieces before. Maybe I’m silly for that, but I’ve literally never used those heart pieces. I knew about the flags, I knew about the lights, but I didn’t know about that cute little heart garland, and that’s kind of a game changer because even on a regular
house, if you’re trying to do like a cutesy little pink cottage vibe, that might be kind of a fun thing to add. I don’t know, I just kind of like it, so hopefully you liked it too. I’ll show you on the inside again for a second. Wow, that is very vibrantly decorated. I kind of like the patio as well, this is cute to me too. And then upstairs, we just got the two bedrooms and the extra bathroom, and that is the full place. Let me know if we should do any other heart challenges. I thought
about doing a house that is literally shaped like a heart like I did last year, but I’ve already done it, so let me know if I should do it again. I should have worn pink in real life for this too, but I didn’t feel like changing and that was probably a mistake, it’s kind of ruining the vibes. But with that, I will actually go.
