OnePlus Open Review | Expensive Disappointment

Hi friends, how are you? I am Nabeel. There is a new entry in the 1 Lakh plus mobile segment After Apple, Samsung, after Samsung, Google, and after Google, there is OnePlus. So this is the open of OnePlus. Let’s check out what is given in this phone worth 1,40,000. You can see the sizes of the boxes here. All the boxes are small. The box of Samsung’s Fold 5 is quite slim despite But OnePlus has not been stingy here and has increased the box a lot. Let’s tear off its plastic wrap. It is written in front, OnePlus

Open. It is written below, OnePlus and Hasselblad. Its information is given on the back side like its color variant and its storage and RAM. You have to open the box like this. It is written here, Never Settle. And here is our OnePlus Open device. But there is something else in the box. They have also given an 80W charger. Which manufacturer does such a big favor nowadays? It is a red type C to type A cable. Now this is their super hook charger. And there was a type A port in it. I found this to be

a letdown. OnePlus should also upgrade its technology in this regard. Otherwise, its charging speed is great. And here they have also given a cover for free. Let’s take off its cover. So

guys, this is the OnePlus Open Voyager in black color. They have given a nice leather finish here. And they have also given a screen guard on it. Let’s boot it up. After Apple, Samsung and Google, the OnePlus logo looks a little different. Okay guys, so I have used it for a long time. And I am making the next video after that. Because if I

don’t use it, how will I understand what is in the phone? I just opened the box and started praising it. I can’t do this. Now I have a good experience of Fold 5, 15 Pro Max and other flagship phones. So according to that, I am going to give my verdict on it. First of all, let’s talk about the design, build quality and looks. So here you can see, I really liked the look Here they have given a vegan leather back. It has a textured finish and it looks quite unique and different from a regular glass

back. There is also a version with a glass back, which is of green color. But I found this to be quite unique. So that’s why I bought this one. The camera module looks quite big here. They have tried to give a look like a professional camera. But I found this to be overkill. They shouldn’t have given such a big camera bump or camera module. Now the problem can be created due to this. For example, if I press something on the table, it will keep wobbling like this. And it won’t be stable when I am using

it. And you can see that it is raised from here. The same problem comes when we keep the display open on the table like this. Now the edge here is raised. So there is a lot of difference between the gap here and the gap here. My finger is not getting in here. You can see my finger here. The whole thing will go inside. So this also creates a lot of problems. So it would have been better if they hadn’t given such a big camera module. They have given a complete aluminum build here. And I would

say it is a very beautiful and well-built build. The buttons are also given properly. The volume rocker is also there. And you can also see the alert slider here. Which is a very useful thing. Silencing the phone, turning off the ringer, all these things come in handy. You also get triple speakers. There are two speakers at the top. There is a speaker type C port at the bottom. And the hole that looks like a speaker is of the microphone. But the best thing is that there is a hinge inside it. First of all, it flattens

it. The second thing is that it has received TUV Greenland certification. And this is not a paid promotion at all. I bought this phone with my own money. But I also reviewed a phone of Oppo. It also had this thing in it. And I was very impressed with it. What is this certification? It certifies the hinge of this phone for 10 lakh folds. So even if you open and close it 100 times a day, it will still support you for 10 years. Whether the phone works or not, the hinge will definitely work. And because of

this, the good thing is that you will get to see the crease of the hinge in the display. Let me show you from this angle. You can see the crease. And this is the display of Fold 5. You can see how dirty and ugly the crease looks. So I would definitely like to praise OnePlus in this regard. And the crease of Fold 5 has a lot of feel in the hand. Its crease does not even feel in the hand. So for this, OnePlus and Oppo thumbs up. Its in-hand feel is also very good. And its

weight is also very good. 239 grams, which is not much. And if you are used to this type of flagship phones, then you will not find it heavy. But it does look a little thick compared to normal phones. But compared to Fold 5, the thickness is a little less. But there is one thing that I have a lot of complaints about. That is the rating of IPX4. IPX4 rating is in a phone worth 1.5 lakhs. Who gives it in a phone worth 1.4 lakhs? If you would have given IPX8, it would have been great. Now

I will be worried all the time about my phone. That the phone is lying on the table. If there is a water spill or something, then this phone can go bad. And in the rainy season, when I have to get out of the car, then I will have to get out of the car. And at that time, my 15 Pro Max will support me. So in this regard, Fold 5 is better than this. Now let’s talk about the display, which is its most interesting part. The cover display is 6.31 inches. There is an LTPO panel.

There is an AMOLED display. It comes with 2K resolution. And it also gives a peak brightness of 2800 nits. And the best part of its cover display is that it is a display like a proper normal phone. So its width is proper. Because of which you can use it like a normal phone. See, I keep the 15 Pro Max with it. You can see. And if I keep the Fold 5 with it, you can see that the Fold 5’s display looks very useless And you can’t do the maximum work on its display. Which is possible

on the OnePlus display. And you get ceramic guard protection on it. So you will get good drop protection or scratch resistance on it. And its main display is 7.82 inches. It is a squarish form factor. You will also get a brightness of 2800 nits. Outdoor visibility is amazing. There is a 2K AMOLED LTPO panel. There is a refresh rate of 120Hz. And you get ultra-thin glass protection on it. And video watching on both the displays is a delight. The same thing is that if you see the video on the inside display, there will be such

big bands up and down. Because of the aspect ratio. And if you zoom it like this, then one part of the video will be zoomed more. This is the only problem with it. Now it has a triple speaker. So let’s test the loudness of the speaker. It gives a loudness of 86-87 decibels. So no complaints. The quality and loudness of the speaker that comes in the flagship phones, you will get in this too. You get a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and facial unlocking. I don’t have any trust in facial unlocking on Android phones. But the side-mounted

fingerprint scanner is very fast and accurate. I didn’t have to face any problem inside it. As many times as I unlocked it. Now let’s talk about its performance. It has Snapdragon 8th generation 2. It has 16 GB RAM. It has LPDDR5X. It has 512 GB storage. It has UFS 4.0. So the specifications are given in the top case of the phone. And this is also necessary. Because it is important for multitasking. Let’s see the benchmarks. I won’t compare it with the iPhone. If you want me to tell you about the Android phone, then I will

tell you. So here you can see the single and multi-core CPU score. This is Geekbench 6. If we compare the single-core score with another device, then it lags behind S23 Ultra. But the multi-core score is similar in terms of CPU. And the GPU score is around 8700. And this is almost the same score as you get in S23 Ultra. So you won’t have any complaints in terms of In terms of gaming, you can play games on smooth and extreme, as well as smooth and 90 FPS. So the developers of PUBG have already optimized it for

this phone. It’s a very good thing. The gameplay is super smooth. You won’t see any lag, hiccup or frame drop here. PUBG runs very well on this. And like other flagship devices of OnePlus, this will give you flagship-level performance. And you can compare it with other Android phones or iPhones. You will get the same performance when you open all the apps on this phone. The battery has a capacity of 4800mAh. According to Android phones and dual-display fold phones, this is not that much. But still, it will give you a decent battery life. I don’t consider

it a king in terms of battery. Better battery-life phones are available in the market at this price point. And if we talk about charging speeds, they have given an 80W charger, but it supports 67W charging. So you get a good charging speed in this. And according to a fold phone, this is a very good speed. And if you have a Fold 5 or are thinking of buying a Fold 5, then this phone is better in terms of charging speed. But there is a big problem in this phone. There is no wireless charging in this phone.

If there is no wireless charging, then there is no reverse wireless charging. Many people will ask about wireless charging. What should we do if we keep it on the wireless charging desk? Can’t we fast charge it? What do we get from wireless charging? Wireless charging is only on your desk. It is not needed at your home. It is very important in your car. The car I have has Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It is wireless. Even if I want to use that, if I want to charge this phone, then I will have to connect it

to the wire. I can’t drop the wireless charging pad on it and not worry. So this is a big letdown. I felt that you keep a phone for Rs 1,40,000 and don’t give basic things like wireless charging. No company does this in their flagship phones. So OnePlus should make an improvement in the next variant. Now the most important thing about this is its OS. It has OxygenOS over Android 13. The company promises 4 OS updates. OxygenOS is an OPPO OS. You will get to see good features like clone phone. But if you look at the

apps, you will find them cartoonish. If I show you the control center, I don’t find this OS or UI polished. But according to the fold, they have done a good job. If you have a folding phone, if the front display is on and you open the inside display, you can see how beautifully the wallpaper is animated. All these touches are good. You can do a lot of customization in this. They have given a task bar at the bottom which comes in all fold devices. You get an app drawer here in which you can access all

the applications. If you open any application, like I have opened Chrome here. If you swipe two fingers from the middle, this application will split here. You can open any other application here and it will be side by side. If you want to add more applications, no problem, there are messages here. If I drag and drop here, you can see that three applications are side by side. I can use all three like this. If I want to rearrange the applications, that is also possible. If I squeeze with four fingers like this, I can see the full

screen mode and how many applications are open. There is another way to use them in Open Canvas. If I drop this application here, you can use Open Canvas like this. I found this very cool. If I want to go to this app, I can tap here. If I want to go to this app, I can tap here. You can use multiple applications like this. They have done a good job in multitasking and Open Canvas. If you are using an app on the cover screen and you open the inner screen, it automatically comes to the inner

screen. If you are using an app on the inner screen and you close it, it comes to the outer screen. You just have to swipe it and start using it. So that by mistake it is not there. So there are a lot of smart touches in it. There are some problems here. If I delete Google Meet from here, I remove this shortcut from here, then this internal screen, the main display, also flies from there. You can see, it disappeared from here. They need a little more software optimization. They have given a lot of other good

software features. For example, if you open the camera, if you tap here, then whatever photo you take here, it will automatically show you here. So it becomes easier to preview. And if you tap here, the dual preview turns on. That is, if you are taking a video or a photo of the other person, it will show it like this. And it will also show you the camera interface. So you can properly shoot a video or a photo. And if you want to take a selfie with the rear camera, that is also possible in this. If

you want to take time-lapses by keeping the phone on the table or somewhere like this, that is also possible in this. The controls of your camera come all the way down and the viewfinder of the camera is showing here. And if you play YouTube videos, then all your controls come here. So you can put it here and watch the video like a proper phone screen. And from here, you can do all the audio and video controls. There are many such possibilities in this. So I have a lot of complaints about the OS here, but they

have done a good job. Now let’s talk about the cameras. Now the camera’s bump is so big, or the camera’s module is so big, and there is so much hassle, so the camera should also be good. In the camera, you can see the setup of the triple camera at the back. There is a 48MP main sensor, a 64MP telephoto zoom lens, which zooms in 3x optical, and a 48MP ultra-wide-angle camera. And the front-facing camera is given here of 32MP. With the rear camera, you can record a video at 4K 60 and with the front-facing camera,

you can record a video at 4K 30fps. I’ll show you the camera test now. You can see what the result is. This video you are watching is from the front -facing camera of OnePlus Open. If you do a vlog or something, then such a video will come. I am recording a video at 4K 30fps. And I am talking here so that you can understand the audio, because audio is important in the video. The audio in the video of the front-facing camera is capturing the device very well. And the quality of the video is also good

here. The details are also good. But in the dynamic range, I felt a slight error. When the sun shines from behind, you can see that it overexposes the clouds and the sun. If the sun is not shining from behind, then the quality of the video comes out decent in this phone. So I am not disappointed with this. And the stabilization of the front-facing camera is also good. You can take a portrait or cinematic video from the front-facing camera. I didn’t like the quality of the background blur. And the edge detection is very bad in this

phone. So in such an expensive phone, I was not expecting such a bad cinematic or portrait video. The quality is reduced from 4K to only 1080p. So this is also a big letdown. And if any other object comes on the screen or in the frame, then you can see that it gets very confused. There is a lot of improvement in this. I don’t know if OnePlus will be able to fix it with a software update or not. You can also take dual videos from this phone. But it only takes 1080p. And the quality comes out

very bad. So in some scenarios, if this is useful to you, then you may find it useful. There are three modes. You can split it in half. Or you can keep yourself in a square. Or in a rectangle. And you can also put yourself in a bubble and make a video. So it is useful. But the quality is not good. And the camera also shakes a lot in this mode. So you are seeing me with the rear camera of OnePlus Open. At 4K 30fps. This video can also be taken at 4K 60fps. So you will

get to see this type of video and audio quality. And when we are walking, then what type of stabilization will you get? You will get an idea here. Now the sun will come from behind me. So what kind of footage comes? You tell me in the comments. I didn’t like the video quality from the rear camera at all from the main lens. It was fine from the front camera. But it gets very poor from the rear facing camera. It can go to 4K 60fps. You are watching a 4K 30fps video. But I didn’t enjoy it

here. The dynamic range is also not right. The colors were also not that vibrant. The camera performance is very basic here. And the camera is not worth Rs. 1,40,000 in rear-facing videos. And you can take cinematic or portrait videos The edge detection is very bad. You can see by pausing towards the hair. You can also zoom in on YouTube. So that is also possible. But I found it very bad. The background blur is also very bad. And if you give the video footage movement, then it comes out very shaky. The background is moving separately. And

the person in front is moving separately. So I didn’t like this in this phone. And you can see here, if I bring an object, then the phone is completely confused. Who should I focus on? And who should I blur? You can see here also, it is completely ruined. Macro video can be taken by this phone. And it does decent work. It is not very good. And there are better phones available at this In 4K 30fps, in normal mode, I didn’t find the stabilization of the video very good. We are just walking casually here. And you

can see, the footage is very shaky. And keeping this price point in mind, I am saying this. There is also Ultra Steady Mode in the video. But in this also, the video is very shaky. I didn’t understand the meaning of this. And the resolution here also, drops to 1080p 60fps or 30fps. The quality is very bad. The footage of this video is not usable at all. In still photography, I didn’t find anything special here. It has a 32MP selfie camera. The performance is very average here. And very cheap phones, can give better camera performance than

this. As far as portrait photos are concerned, in the front-facing camera, that also comes out very bad. So, there is a lot to do here. And I didn’t get any satisfaction from this at all. The Ultra Wide Angle camera is enough. But this phone can take good photos. It is decent, not out of this world. But yes, the photo is good. When compared to other pictures. And from the main camera, you can take a photo at 1x. It is a very average photo. You can see, the whole sky is overexposed. This is a 2x photo.

The details are very less in this. Then you can take a photo at 3x. The telephoto zoom lens, its full resolution is available on this. I didn’t find this special either. And you can take a photo up to 6x. The photo is good, the 6x one. There is an effect in it. But the quality is not that good. And if you take portrait photos at 1x, 2x, 3x, it is taking very average portrait photos. There is a lot of lack of details. And the background blur is also not that good. So, the camera performance, in

still photography, I didn’t find anything special in this phone. This phone can also take macro photos. But the photos are very bad. I didn’t like its macro photos at all. There is a lot of lack of details in this. Now, if we talk about night photos, then you can see in artificial lighting, the performance of the front-facing camera is very poor. The portrait photos are also not that good. The photos taken with the rear camera, are okay compared to the front camera. But you won’t find anything special in this. So, keep this in mind. The

3x photos taken in portrait, are not that good. It is very disappointing. But, if you look at the night photos of this building, the photos are good. I can’t say that this photo is bad. And you can also see the photos of the temple here. This is also good in this phone. So, guys, you saw the performance of the camera. I haven’t even compared this with any other phone. I have a lot of phones. There are flagship, mid-range, Pixel 8 Pro, 15 Pro Max, Fold 5, H20 Ultra. And I found this camera very bad. The

price of this phone is Rs. 1,40,000. If you take the ICICI discount, then it is Rs. 1,35,000. In such an expensive phone, when you give such a big camera module, then the performance of the camera should also be good. But the result was in front of you. I didn’t tweak it, I didn’t adjust the color, I didn’t tweak the volume. But the branding of Hasselblad doesn’t work here. Only the branding is left. And in this matter, I think this phone is a complete failure. Guys, with this phone, you can also see a free case. I

didn’t like the quality of this free case at all. They should have given a much better thing than this. Either you don’t give, and if you are giving, then give a good quality. Because your phone is a very expensive phone. It looks good to see the case from behind. But from the front, you can see that the build quality is very thin. And you can see from here, when I pull it like this, it is flexing. They shouldn’t have given such a light case. Now, friends, what is my verdict about this phone? Your verdict can

be anything. Whatever it is, you can tell me in the comments. Friends, they have given a lot of good things in this phone. The display of this phone is fantastic. Whether it is an external display or an internal display. The UI of this phone, its optimization is very good. Its features are very good. The look of this phone is also very good. And the certification for its display and hinge is also very good. When you see Fold 5, you feel disgusted to use its internal display. But it doesn’t have all those problems. It has a

triple speaker. The loudness of the speaker is good. The multitasking options are good. It also has fast charging. The battery capacity is also good. But there are some things that are very disappointing. Like the IPX4 rating and the bad camera performance If I am investing so much money in a phone, then please give me good cameras. This was the story of OnePlus Open. You tell me what you think about this phone. Whatever you think, do tell me in the comments. I hope you liked today’s video. If you liked it, do like and share it.
