Two SPS high schools add extra safety policy for Friday night football games

effort to keep fans safe during High School football games you’ll find updated bag policies at a couple of Springfield Public Schools Michael Hoffman joins us live from Parkview High School With The Changes you’ll see this year you need to know before the games this evening well Paul absolutely you know the rules both here at Parkview and at Central across town there are a couple new rules for those people who are coming as Spectators in regard to what kind of bags they could bring into the stadiums with them now take this one for example I bring

this bag with me everywhere I go for work it has my cameras it has my microphones under this rule I actually wouldn’t be allowed to bring this into the stadium if I wasn’t a reporter but keeping in mind that the rules here at Parkview and at Central don’t allow for any bags with a few exceptions that aspect was an autonomous decision from two of our schools it’s that time of year again I School football season with it comes Spectators we want people to see uh what our student athletes are doing we want uh the community

to see the school spirit and the stands spirit that comes with rules for spectators at all SVS home games high school students have to show

their student IDs to attend K-8 students must be accompanied by an adult students must remain in the stands for the whole game unless they’re using the restrooms or concession stands and there are no large bags or backpacks allowed we’re always looking at what others that host events and crowds like we do what are they doing what what are common expectations uh you know what what is out there to create the

best game day experience because that’s what we’re after while all SPS Baseline rules to follow they still have the autonomy to add on top of those rules if they see fit so they couldn’t come out and say hey high school students don’t need to have an ID because that’s a common practice across all of our schools but they do have the authority to add in extra measures that that they choose to well small C through bags are allowed at SPS schools at Parkview in central no bags are allowed the only exceptions are a small clear

bag not larger than 12 by 6 by 12 inches a gallon size freezer bag or a clutch purse not exceeding 4.5 by 8.5 inches if there are concerns share it with us but you know our job and and what we’re trying to do is put out the best experience that we can for everyone that attends the games now for those students who didn’t have the opportunity to bring their backpacks home after school we’re told by SPS that if you approach an administrator at one of these games they will be able to let you into the

school so you can lock up your bag and then go get it when the game is done for KY3 news I’m Michael Hoffman Paul back to you thank you Michael now to our
