Edifier WH700NB Review – Amazing Value ANC Headphones!
Edifier has released these there are an affordable set of over-ear headphones they’re called the w700 MBS and they offer a runtime with the active noise cancelling on of up to 45 hours with it off 68 hours and if you charge them for just 10 minutes you get 8 hours of runtime now there are some different modes too with the noise cancellation we have an ambient mode there’s also a gaming mode to reduce the latency that’s great for streaming video and they’ve got a comfortable fit and for the price the sound quality does check out as
I will show you in this review or you need to know about the wh 700 MBS from edifier so this is what we get with our w700 MB from edifier there is important safety information right there the user manual and this is a after sales card and then our type c to type a cable now charge time is approximately 2 hours so what isn’t included is a pouch for them unfortunately they’re trying to keep the price down these are their most affordable overair noise cancelling headphones so it makes sense that some Corners have to be
cut somewhere let’s have a look at the design so you can see you can fold them in to make them a little bit more compact for traveling so they have
area there there are some screws which is good the only like gold on this the accents that you see is just this with the edifier logo so I do like the fact that they look quite simple okay there’s no like gold on the outside there Chrome or anything like that that can probably start to scratch and when when you’re wearing them they do apply a little bit of pressure on your ears to give you a very good seal so the cups here they have like a memory foam style to them this is very soft and
really spongy okay so pressing down on this hard you see it’s slowly going to come back and that is good because when you put them on that gives you that seal around your ears so them going over your ears you get that passive noise isolation and then of course the active noise cancelling with them which is a big selling point here so great for when you’re in public transport or what not trains airplanes to block out that noise and here you’ll see we’ve got a type-c port now charge time uh we’ll take about 2 hours
but in just 10 minutes you get 8 hours of run time speaking of runtime using the SBC codec which is all that it does support it will go for 68 hours on just a single charge with the noise cancellation off of course with it on it’s up to 45 hours this is where we can pair up with a Bluetooth status LED right there now holding this down 3 seconds you go into the peering mode but when you go through single tapping it you cycle through the ambient mode noise cancelling mode the wind filter and a
gaming mode too with them now you can pair them up to two separate devices so your tablet and your phone for example here we have our power on volume up and down and you use those there to skip to the previous and next track for your controls and for answering calls and whatnot too as well there so these are of course a physical press in clicky buttons with rubber over them they got a good feel to them nice feedback from them and great that they aren’t capactive they normally aren’t with this style of headphones so
build quality of them is good great run time and you see the Penning here at the top this is nice and soft after wearing these for a few hours I haven’t really noticed any pain or pressure on the top of my head just a tad just a tiny little bit which is normal after a few hours and with the cups going over my ears I do get a little bit of moisture buildup which is for me which is normal the way they are they seal over them especially uh in Winter now with a bit of
heating on and whatnot and summer that would be probably even worse so where the head adjustment is the height adjustment that has metal in it too as well so it’s another area that they’ve reinforced feels good and it’s not one of those headphones that this is all loose and you have to keep moving it all the time no it’s got a nice feel to it there as well so overall for the price point good build quality here from edifier this is the application which is called edifier connect now you don’t have to register sign in
or anything for that you can just go past that process and you see we got our battery life here and you can select the noise cancellation so noise cancellation ambient you can turn it right off and if you scroll along here we’ve got our equalizers now I’ve just been using their classic which is the out of the boox one for how it sounds which I’ll talk about soon if you just keep swiping you can turn on then the game mode that’s going to really reduce the latency I find that it’s not just for gaming they
over too it is really good to use this if you’re going to be watching any streaming content on your phone or your tablet if you want to reduce that latency you’re watching say Netflix Amazon Prime video then it’s handy for that so there are some other options in here if you click and go into the settings you can see there are some control options so you can go through there while it’s just uh selecting the uh noise cancellation modes there for that button for the Bluetooth connection button too as well you’ve got your prompt volume
your power of timeout shutdown timer there Bluetooth settings and use a manual all there so it’s all quite straightforward and I like it it’s a what an app should be really I think simple and just easy to use straightforward edifier has used with the w700 mb’s 40 mm Dynamic drivers they deliver good base very powerful and I’m factoring in here the price of these too when I’m talking about how they sound and I think they’re excellent considering the price point so they haven’t skimped out on the audio quality we get deep powerful B B and
it doesn’t distort there’s no clipping at higher volumes the volume is reasonably loud now some people may like it a little bit louder but overall I do think it is good you get some detail with the highs it’s not overly harsh or crisp vocals are sounding quite good there too as well and all up excellent now depending on what modes you are using if you use the noise cancellation on you hear a slight White Noise very hard to pick up some people can barely even hear that and when you have it off you don’t so
the sound signature changes a little bit but it still delivers that powerful good base that I think most people are going to be after and all up really no complaints from me with the sound quality of these that’s the most important thing they’re comfortable they sound great and they do deliver for how much they sell them for now Bluetooth is version 5.3 and using their gaming mode watching some Cobra Kai here and I don’t see any problems with lag okay so it’s in time with the actor’s mouths as they speak so you I could happily
sit on on a flight and watch an episode here and not be bothered by having the video out of sync with the audio because here with my Samsung Galaxy s23 Ultra no issues at all it seems to be perfectly in time if there is a delay which there will be I can’t really see or detect it it’s a fraction of a second and this is a microphone sample with the wh 700 MB the microphone quality as you can hear from this is not amazing yes you can play voice calls most people should be able to
understand you but I do wish that these mights just a little clearer now I do have some air conditioning on in the background the fan you can hear that a little bit but it is blocking that out with some cancellation background cancellation so they do support dual Bluetooth connections as I mentioned before when we looked at them so you can peir them up to say your tablet and then your phone now very comfortable easy to put on and soon as you put them on you notice you’ve got passive noise cancell straight away of course with
this design and the way the cups are very soft they give you basically a perfect seal I’ve got no sound from outside really coming in but that’s really reduced too and then when you turn on the noise cancellation and you cycle through the different modes so when you have the ambient on that brings in the sound from the outside of course amplifies it a tiny little bit so you can hear for example announcements for your train platform co-workers whatnot then when you turn the active noise cancelling on you notice that it does drop down the
noise background noise and it’s really good at blocking out I’ve found um simulating this by the way by playing ambient tracks of a a noisy train station on an airplane and you don’t really hear that much of it it drops the sound down now they don’t have the most powerful when it comes to noise cancellation cancellation that I’ve heard from erss but it still is very good again for the price point of them just like the sound quality we get that good base decent volume Highs are there with the detail and that all checks out
the controls are good for me the only thing that the edifier w700 MB is missing is a 3.5 mm wide connection would have been great for gamers out there you do get it with their more premium offerings from them for over years and the microphone quality isn’t exactly fantastic there so there you go that is the edif fire w700 MB overair noise cancelling headphones
