Insane Macro Photography! Venus Optics Laowa 25mm Macro Lens Review

this right here is the venus
optics 25 millimeter f 2.8 ultra macro
lens for canon ef mount
man amazon names are great anyway i
wanted to do some cool macro photography
so i saved up and bought this lens
the reason why you would want a macro
lens is so you can get really close to
the subject and
it can actually focus other lenses just
get blurry and can’t focus
i chose this lens because it seems
pretty good i guess i’ll be testing that
so it’s here don’t don’t worry the lens
isn’t in that box
it looks like it got a little crinkled
or something but that’s fine
as long as the lens is okay inside
there’s some foam that holds the lens
that’s basically it besides some
warranty cards
now that the lens is unboxed let’s put
it on the camera
the first thing i noticed is that the
aperture wasn’t showing on the camera
for those of you who don’t know aperture
is how large the lens opens up
to let in more or less light i thought
it might be the adapter i was using to
put on my
then i noticed there were no pins for
the lens to communicate to the camera
the way you adjust aperture is by a dial
on the lens itself
that’s not the only reason why a lens
would need to talk to the camera
it also won’t know how to correct for
things like chromatic aberration
which is when different colors actually
get separated on the edge of the image
most lenses have some way of
communicating with the camera so i was a
little surprised
but that’s fine it doesn’t mean it’s a
bad lens just wait till you see the
pictures out of this thing
as you can see i’m just pointing it at
the microphone and the result is a
pretty good image
you’ll notice it’s a little hard to get
the image focused that’s because you
can’t adjust the focus on this lens
that means that no matter what you have
to move the object closer to the lens
if i wanted to take a picture from
farther away i couldn’t because
it has to be a specific distance from
the subject
it makes it much harder to take photos
that’s my main problem with this lens
it’s just not ideal as far as zoom i
didn’t really notice a difference
at all the way the lens works you
actually have to move the camera away
when you’re zooming in so it kind of
makes it pointless
okay so after i got it on my camera it
wouldn’t let me take a picture
which is really weird and because it
doesn’t have those pins to talk with the
camera the camera has no idea that
there’s a lens on there
i had to go into the settings and allow
the camera to take pictures without a
lens
and then i went around and snapped some
photos i definitely had to use a tripod
for this
because trying to get it perfectly
focused is really difficult and here’s a
few of the photos that i got i’m going
to show the original object
and then the macro photo

so as you can see they’re pretty nice
photos it’s kind of hard to get the
pictures just right because you can’t
adjust the focus
that’s the main thing for me that i
don’t like about this lens it’s not
exactly what i was expecting
other than that it’s really nice and
takes great photos that’s about it for
this video
