LEGO Super Mario 2023 Rambi The Rhino 71420 Unboxing & Review
Hey guys and gals! Let’s build Rambi the Rhino by LEGO Super Mario. This is set number 71420, contains 107 bricks, retails for $10.99, and the set was provided by the LEGO Group for early review, and just be glad I don’t rate the box crushings because that’s how I received it, and so looks like we get to build this rhino thing with some blocks, and we do not get him. So you automatically know what kind of review this is. So if you’re interested, we’re going to be using Jay the Friends doll. Okay so Jay the surfer
is on vacation right now. So we’re going to use him and yeah. Well it’s got all the stuff covered up in the back. So that’s kind of useless. “Expansion Set”. Well let’s open this up and see here, and I don’t know what the quality is going to be like because I got to use the phone for the building guide for this. You know why because even though LEGO is trying to cut back on paper, they give us this useless thing here which is kind of just a waste of paper. We’re trying to save paper. Well
that’s not how we’re doing it, and it’s like we’re going to set our two bags of bricks and our Mario figure there. I mean we’re going to
these for vents or computer monitors. Not a bad idea instead of just tossing those in a bin somewhere. We got some telephone bases and some 2 by 2 plates and 1 by 1 plates with ball. A little banana. I can always use those and some of these gray one by two half round flat tiles upwards one by one by one by two angler plate and a 1 by 3 jumper plate number one won my two rounded plate anything else and it’s useful a two by two round flat tile one by two by one by two
upwards angular plate we get some quarter round by one flat tiles some of these little teeth pieces that are made out of soft plastic 1 by 2 plates 1 by 2 slope some of these squashed one by one bricks some Technic pins he won by two of friction Fork I’m just staring at why are we using that well I think we’re going to have fun with this now if you’re watching this I’m just doing this merely for the parts you know see what kind of Parts like this is a little stud with a stick and
some Hollow stud so those are in dark stone gray headlight bricks one by one plates with holder you know we’ve seen these parts millions of times and then we have this so we’re going to combine all this into one sitting this will be on my main Channel and then later on it’ll be on the secondary some upwards one by two by two by two angler plates and brick yellow or sand yellow my bad and some 1 by 6 plates and yes this is a late night unboxing I’m very unusual I’ve done these some of these
Little Rock cap pieces I don’t know what you’d use these for find a use for them in a mock or something oh we get three of them inverted two by two 45 degree slope a two by three brick with bow four by four by two thirds rounded plate with just a rounded plate and some 1 by 2 by one and two thirds brick with eight studs and a 1 by 2 plate with a half Technic beam we get a couple of those in there oh a medium is there 1 by 2 brick with two studs
great we even get Palace on Ricks too and a 1 by 2 plate with friction stub four by four plates okay I’m always after these oh this is a regular one by two we got a 1 by 2 brick with one stud on the side okay oh we got one of these in pink huh cool and some more two by two plates and a two by two by two thirds plate with two horizontal studs so one by four bricks with bow 1 by 2 by 1 by 4 downwards angular plate and one of these two
by two plates with the hole now the reason why I’m saying that the audio quality may be bad because I got to use the phone for doing these sets so I got to pull up the instruction manual here and I maybe I forgot to add these I need to add them all to the phone I was trying to do my tablet but I couldn’t do it so here you can stare at him while I’m loading it up here got to have fun right okay I got to go through all this and and yeah this is
uh I understand why Lego’s doing this whole app thing now and you know we’re trying to say pay for all this stuff so I’m not going to be great anymore for missing instructions they were kind enough this time to say that the instructions were not ready that’s fine but at least Lego if you’re watching send them like two or three weeks early because I don’t want to have to wait because when I get these sets I want to get them done quickly as Pro possible now this is like an impromptu video that means that this
is not scripted I just open up the set and just go there’s nothing planned about it here and the whole goal about doing this now is to see how great the bill core is this is a nicely built can this be built with a family so far I haven’t I can’t tell I don’t know I think it might be but we don’t know yet it’s always good to have those family builds where everybody can pitch in and have fun and there’s a lot of little pieces in this set here I don’t know how long this
build is going to be and you know what with all the cameras and stuff that I have I don’t even have a timer on any of this stuff where I can see it I don’t even have any clocks being displayed I won’t even know well I’m looking for a a jumper plate I can’t tell if it’s dark gray or black on this thing well let’s start pulling all the dark gray oh there it is so yeah and well Jay why do you give these a filling rate why do you even accept them a lot of
you told me they actually like looking at the parts in these you know so I mean that’s why I do it so we can look at the parts together you know I can not look at the parts and that’ll be the end of that but oh wait a minute hold on this is on this side here and how toasty is the phone it’s getting toasty they don’t have it for the for my old junk iPad yet so I try to go on my iPad to use the instructions but the files weren’t on I don’t know
if I’m logged into the right account or not but it’s still and oh they count that as a step is to rotate and for those who’ve been watching me do these yes I’m going to be doing the ding ding ding ding dings throughout all these videos that I get here when they’re missing a smart figure that’s what we’re going to do um okay it goes like this I don’t know what we’re building here now I prefer small sets I know some people think I’m nuts about that but I prefer building the small sets over the
large ones because usually some of these have some pretty good parts in them does this set have some decent Parts yeah so far I mean pretty much what it is now if you’re interested in watching longer builds this style I you can go check my archives at J channel that’s going to be more the live building stuff like this not live live but we’ll just take a Lego set and we build it from start to finish running off there huh we build it from start to finish no speed builds no time lapse build it’s just
I sit down and build and talk pretty much what it is so I wish I can see Advanced on this but I can’t that’s something I don’t like about the digital apps but you know I’m not grading any more than that because Lego’s trying to do away with printed guides so I’m going to be a little nicer on that but still the set requires basically when you get these they’re an incomplete set see if you’re if you’re one of the Unlucky Souls who get this uh and I’m being honest you know I’m sorry if you’re
not used to that if you’re one of those unlucky Souls that gets this set as a Christmas gift or something or a birthday gift you have to have that now if you have the smart figure the intelligence figure or the animated figure whatever you want to call it you’re fine you know you can this would be a good gold mine here but but it’s not for me oh these are printed see missed that and I would never have known that that’s why I always encourage everybody if you have the time subscribe to my second Channel
because sometimes I may miss pieces when I do the the set unboxings as I’m trying I’m kind of press for time and that kind of thing just gotta watch the temperature on the phone here this app is not very friendly for mobile devices and here I thought a certain mobile game apps will kill your battery on your phone but this one will do that that’s why I use a junk tablet because if I kill the battery on it I don’t feel so bad you know like I have I have a tablet that I pieced together
from like three other iPads and for some reason it just will not let me load this stuff up so I’ll have to take a look in fact it’s got the latest OS on it too there’s that useless tile so yeah if you’re not used to bellyaching you may not want to watch this video I’m being honest you know like I said some are not used to it so far is it keeping my interest I mean I’ve already built enough stuff right now with Grays and blacks I’m going to be honest not really in terms of
oh we got to build two of these like what happened we forgot to put the 2x by it so we got to do this and let me swing this over there well I know somebody’s going to say that camera’s wiggling too much but a little hold on I can do I’m taking those eye pieces going next well no but the round tile does this is meant for little fingers obviously I can’t get mine in there I barely got my thumb in there I got a bunch of set offers that I was kind of like yeah
I don’t know if I want to accept these and I thought why not and I found out I was spending way too much time on one thing over another like I was spending more time doing thumbnails than anything else and I thought now I don’t know I got to think of something but in addition I was also doing a bunch of actually I was well I’m going to be honest I was doing two tutorials stuff these were impromptu tutorials like I was just like my mind was just I was doing I was doing something next
thing you know I just had these ideas just appear in my mind and I was like oh I don’t want to lose these ideas so I just said okay I’m gonna just stop and do two impromptu videos real quick and that’s it so you watch those tutorials in the future you can tell but there’s you could still make sense out of everything I’m not gonna make low budget things and that’s pretty much what it is I’m assuming these go on the other side too so I’m going to just put them both on there well let’s
make let’s not do that here um because I would have missed up here yeah it’s the same on this side I’m assuming this little tile goes here too watch it does and it makes a liar out of me huh I know a lot of you guys on here don’t like complaining so get into the rant stuff on this channel and we have to make four claw things so let’s just prepare these real quick here so yeah if you’re interested in this style this is what I do on my second Channel except the sets are much
bigger than this I should have done is just broke this up into another build I thought well 107 pieces doesn’t seem too bad you know I have a cap at 125 if it’s over 125 then I just do the unboxings and the reviews all in one sitting but the Builds on the second and if it’s over 250 pieces then I just split them out where the review is different than the unboxing and then and after that it’s pretty much it all right we’re not done yet so hold on and the hole goes on the top
here of the right here on this end right there so at least it’s going to be somewhat of a of a flexible figure just got to find all the parts a lot of pieces here that doesn’t go there so there is a lot of pieces in here that you could use for other builds making vehicles and stuff so these are pretty essential for most vehicle builds okay what are we doing now let me go back here three three and six oh you’re trying to fool me I don’t like this uh digital stuff and my phone
is starting to become like a heater right now we’re in the high 100s like a hundred and I think earlier today right now it’s like 90 something or maybe in the high 80s but earlier today it was like 111 I just it was just so unbearable today okay now we got to build the head they kind of give you a preview of what you’re building right now do I like the animation stuff now the only thing I like about the 3D guides is I can take my finger and wiggle it around if I get confused
um thank goodness I keep all the the the raw footage of my um building tutorials in terms of files because I’ve been working on a 3D app so I can do the same thing eventually too bad I can’t put my put my builds in these 3D apps and you can just use your trusty finger and just kind of do this right here see this thing is getting so hot right now so I’m gonna need to I may have to use a fan eventually and I’ll probably do it on the second Channel use like a little
C I have an old CPU fan I may just make something temporary to kind of kind of push the heat away from the phone until I get the the junk or tablet working with this and yes I do talk a lot in these for those who are kind of curious here kind of a soft plastic so be very careful I’m just taking my finger there and just kind of pushing that in probably the horn mine doesn’t go in all the way like that huh that’s as far as it goes in well I’m not gonna force
it and take a risk in damaging it and yes the build experience on this is slow we’re doing one or two pieces at a time so if you’re looking for an advance um an advanced tutorial yeah an advanced build where you’re doing like three or four pieces at a time maybe more this is not for you pieces are like mediums it’s not too bad but it’s kind of just let me take a look here so we’re looking at it like this let me find the right one oh wow that’s just let me go back here
wow that’s just barely hanging on with one stud Okay I uh let’s see how long this thing lasts maybe it’s meant to fall apart huh now we can put the Eyes on there I think they would have made them look a little happier well he’s not happy because guess what he’s got to go find that figure I’ve seen that Mario figure at the store but I thought oh there’s something else I wanted to buy than that so I did just that sorry Lego but I didn’t want to deal with it so sadly this is not
a family build so if you’re looking for something to spend time with your child this ain’t it unless you have a bunch of smaller Mario sets you’re all putting together as a family yeah I mean go for it but this is not meant to wear two two or more people can be building this oh so he can only say yes well he can drink water no you can barely say yes and it shows that the head goes up and down let’s get rid of the animations all right all right then we got this stuff here
wait for the app to load I mean you know I mean and this just sits here like that I actually show it is it’s actually snap in there no I thought maybe it did I don’t know I think they just sit there you put the banana on the top well I’ll stick the banana in the hole there we stick that in there and then you put this in here and you stack another one on top well maybe the banana has to sit like that well this is going to make a lot of mess huh skip
that okay and okay we don’t care about the Mario figure I gotta let the phone cool off it’s hotter than a now I forgot this is the main I gotta keep it clean on here and this is what we have remaining right here for the build okay so basically you could play with this as is or if you want take your Super Mario so I don’t know what this thing does but you go boing boing boing boing boing ding ding ding ding ding ding ding ding and this thing’s supposed to go like this and it
knocks everything all around and you got the banana here so then Jay Jay the teen fig can go in here and Chomp down on the banana he found well can you get that in your mouth eat that banana there you go and you see now he’s chomping down on that and that’s pretty much what it is so basically though it looks like it is playable but play would be short-lived because that’s all you do with it now the character is flexible his legs do move well they just turn and his head just goes down a
little bit and that’s essentially it for the demonstration in tour there’s not a whole lot here whoa I get a little excited there now we’re going to start right on into the review the review is going to be impromptu this is just stuff that just comes off my mind so is it a playable model as is you could just use this for a zoo or something just change it up a bit but I’m gonna say the play is short-lived if you don’t have the a starter course or any other Mario sets this is just an
expansion set you’re going to be in some deep doo-doo over this one and that’s it this is that’s basically the play value it’s it’s very short-lived so that’s that’s one thing of being off there uh mock value you can drop this in a mock like I said in a zoo you also got some nice Parts in here for vehicles so you can park this out for other things so Mach value is there uh build experience build experience I’m going to be honest with slow you saw how slow I took to put this together if you’re
messing with that 3D app it’s slow so if you’re looking for something that’s dragged out that’s fine and what’s the age range on this this is for seven plus trust me even I would be bored at that age doing this Jay would just be doing this all day it just he would just be sitting here he whoa you’re not going to sit there you’re gonna sit there in a corner and cry that’s what he would do I I would be bored with this okay build quality though um this is meant to be loose I understand
that but this seems pretty sturdy I don’t see anything breaking off maybe the tail well actually no I think the tails on there pretty good so I would say that the bill cornice is pretty good for what this is so I’m gonna say yes the build quality is nice on this one now for my final score on this set it’s a zero out of 10. why it’s incomplete because we’re missing the figure and I’m going to keep doing those type of reviews until Lego gets the hint and brings out um Super Mario sets that have
the Minifigures I got this mainly to go through the parts and take a look at the build right because some people prefer seeing just this some people are looking for the parts on these things you got good source of parts but I’m grading on that play value it’s not even a collaborative build so there’s just so many strikes against this thing I mean it’s durable I mean I could probably drop this and it won’t break it does have some accessories but it’s just short-lived now for 10.99 this is what you’re getting you’re basically getting rambi
and just some blocks very little play value incomplete set you’ll have to get your own building guy you’ll have to use the tablet for that so do I think it’s worth 10.99 for 107 bricks uh you know well maybe if you’re getting some useful pieces in here but for me though like these what would I use these for I don’t know maybe maybe for some kind of a stone wall or something like this kind of stand up very well but I want to know what you guys and gals think of the set to me that’s
it I was kind of bored with it oh I mean that’s I’m being honest though the build was slow and short-lived but if you don’t have the smart figure I’m sure you can just come in here finish this up off the back and just make it into just a regular Rhino or something put that in your zoo it means a nice brick built animal but for what the set is meant to be used for if you don’t have the Super Mario starter course or or any of the starter courses this is useless and it’s incomplete
