LG's NEW 32” 4K OLED Gaming Monitor (32GS95UE) Unboxing + Review

Hello everyone it’s SpawnPoiint and I think we might have just found the perfect gaming monitor it’s a 32in 4K OLED that supports a vrr gsync freesync premium Pro and up to 480 HZ there’s also a new dual mode that press of a button will switch between 240 and 480 HZ and we have finally got speakers built into the monitor so this is LG’s brand new 32gs95ue and it ticks almost every box you need for the PS5 Xbox series and of course PC now there was a lot to cover today but let me start by saying

this has now become my new daily monitor which I have linked to below but any questions you’ve got please let me know in the comments and I will try to get back to you right so here’s the box and it looks like LG have once again gone for this plain packaging which simply lists the product name and the details on the side nothing that really gets us excited about what’s inside but let’s get this opened up okay so firstly we have this box of accessories that includes an HDMI cable a display port cable a USB

type A to type B cable and an external power pack and a power lead we also have the usual warranty information and quick start guide to read

through as well then there’s a plastic cover which can be used to hide the ports on the back of the Monitor and there’s the stand which comes in two parts we have the rear column which will attach to the back of the Monitor and they feet or the base and then when it comes to fitting the provided stand it’s really straightforward it’s a case of taking this piece and

clicking it onto the back of the monitor then taking the base and slotting that onto the bottom there are then two screws which you need to tighten up to hold it in place and that’s it we’re done now this year the ultra gear monitors have changed the way the base looks so instead of the feet almost being as wide as the monitor with little legs either side they now come with a flat metal plate underneath now this should take up far less space on your desk and I think it looks a lot cleaner as well

then in terms of the movement and flexibility this stand still does pretty much everything you expect it to do so it will move up and down nice and smoothly you can move it left or right and you can also pivot and tilt it as well in fact you can rotate this 90° and have it upright instead so it means you can position this pretty much however you’d like I also like the fact that on the underside of the stand it has these little rubber feet so it should keep it in place and won’t move around

on your desk there’s also this quick release button on the back when you need to remove the stand from the monitor now throughout this video I will swap between both the provided stand and the monitor Armon that I’m using and the reason for this is because I do want to show you what the stand looks like and of course how it functions but I also want to show you how clean this monitor looks when it’s mounted to an arm and as it has a 100x 100 vessel holes on the back you can mount it to

any compatible arm or bracket as well like I’m using the secret lab Magnus arm here and it looks awesome with the screen plus it means I can push it further back as it’s pretty big okay so the first thing I wanted to point out was the new rear design algae have gone for this year so instead of the hexagon design we’ve got this nice smooth rear case instead overall I would say it’s not quite as thin as the previous models especially on the edges which we’ve kind of gotten used to with the OLED panels but

it is still a really Slim profile on the top there’s a large purple Ultra gear logo on either side of that there’s an LED strip this can be turned on and off in the settings and you can change the colors of it as well now this LED strip does give a really nice ambient glow while it’s on but I just wish they were a little bit brighter and if you do like your ambient LEDs at night this isn’t going to replace a dedicated LED strip to be honest as for the ports we have these tucked

away behind the stand which includes two HDMI 2.1 ports a display port 1.4 a USB type B 3.0 two USB type a 3.0 ports and a headphone jack underneath there’s also this little button which is what we use for the Dual mode functionality but more on that later now we also get this plastic cover in the box which you can clip over the ports this will keep it looking a little tidier as you can rout the cables through the back of the stand to keep them out of sight now design wise let’s be honest most

monitors look the same these days but I’m already preferring the new hexagonal L-shaped stand overall it has a nice clean look and what’s great about the LG monitors is there’s no branding or Notches at all on the front of the screen so we’re getting a pretty minimal design here in fact the only branding we get is on the back of the Monitor and on the stand so if you want that clean minimal gaming monitor this is definitely the one to go for so this is a 32-in OLED and for me that is the perfect size

when it comes to both gaming and using it for productivity I’ve been using 27 and 32in screens for years but a 32-in OLED is the size I’ve been waiting for especially with these specs now not only is this 32 in and an OLED but we’re also getting a 4K resolution as well so 3840 by 2160 pixels and it looks incredible as soon as I switched to on and I took a closer look at the texting games and in the menus on the dashboard I was only impressed by how sharp it looked LG have actually improved

the overall look of how text is displayed as well as they’ve adjusted the order of these sub pixel colors to help reduce color fringing I’ll cover this again later when we talk about productivity but on First Impressions this is the best I’ve seen on a w OLED panel now over the last week I’ve played a few different games some that support 4K and some that don’t and I’ve been genuinely impressed with every single game that I’ve played games like rise of the Ronin gt7 hell divers 2 and some ratain and Clank I’ll always come back

to this game to show off how good this monitor can look now the fact that it’s an OLED means we’re obviously getting those incredible black levels that’s nothing new I hear you say because we’ve been seeing this for years but this monitor does have that vessa display HDR true black 400 certification and that’s the new standard for OLED screens essentially we’re getting better contrast levels without losing detail the best way to demonstrate the incredible black levels and contrast is with one of these 4K OLED demos this really shows off just how good this screen can

look we’re also getting hdr10 support so any games or content you watch in HDR really pops on here and brightness is another thing we’ve talking about so this year we’re getting MLA plus which is increasing brightness by 37.5% in SDR it now targets 275 nits typical brightness in SDR and up to 1200 nits in HDR and for my testing and use over the last few days this has been bright enough for most games especially while playing at night but just make sure in the settings you change the peak brightness from low to high and it

will increase it a little bit more colors are decent as as well with a 98.5% DCI P3 color gamma this means the color reproduction is as close and accurate to how games are intended to look I’ve thrown up the usual vibrant images and gameplay just to show this off and even with the limited picture adjustments we have in the settings this still looks great now you might have noticed this already but the screen has an anti-glare coaching rather than glossy it’s not full on mat as such it’s more of a low reflection anti-glare finish and

from the testing that I’ve done so far it doesn’t add any aggressive grain or ruin the black levels at at all I know glossy is the Preferred Choice when it comes to olets but having used both over the last few months I think it comes down to personal preference yes I prefer glossy on my TV which is the LG G3 but I actually prefer a matte finish on my monitors and I’ll be honest this is the best that I’ve seen of course if you place this directly opposite a window or angled it towards one you’re

still going to see some kind of glare but for the most part this screen does a great job of handling those Reflections the same goes for viewing angles as it’s an OLED we’re getting those perfect view and angles however you place it okay so when when it comes to gaming on this 32in OLED it has impressed me far more than I expected whether you’re gaming on the PS5 Xbox or PC you can make use of almost all of the features it offers for example we get vrr or the variable refresh rate which both the Xbox

and the PS5 support there’s nvidia’s g-sync and amd’s freesync premium Pro both allowing faster and smoother gameplay with reduced tearing and stuttering of course the PS5 and Xbox are limited to 4K or 120 FPS but with this monitor you’re still getting that 4 4K OLED panel at 32 in whereas if you’re on PC you’re able to take advantage of the full 240 HZ at 4K or up to 480 HZ at 1080p so this is like having two different monitors in one and as for the response time this is rated at 0.03 milliseconds gray to gray

it’s the same as what we’ve seen on all oleds over the last couple of years due to the self light in pixels given us that near instant response and that does mean there’s little to no lag while gaming LG have also added in some of their gaming features two including a Crosshair and an FPS counter these can be added by going into the settings and enabling them from here there’s also the option to switch between profiles and change the screen size so if you’d rather play at 27 or 24 in well you can but from

my testing this does drop the resolution from 4K down to 1080p so you won’t get the full of 4K or even 1440p support at this size now I know a few of you did ask me last week if the Astro a5x works with this monitor well the good news is they do work with no issues at all so as you can see I’m using the a5x here on my PS5 and it’s connected and working absolutely fine I just thought I’d mention this as I know the a5x have had issues with some of the older LG

monitors okay so one of the biggest features that LG have added to this monitor is the new duel mode we’ve seen monitors with 480 HZ support per but this one has a whole new way of doing it so by default it supports 4K at 240 HZ which is perfect for story driven games or those that rely on quality over performance it work on PC as well as consoles up to 120 HZ it’s smooth it’s fast and it looks awesome but under the monitor there’s this little button that when you press it it transforms the 4K

240 HZ screen into a 1080p 480 HZ Beast of a monitor and this is ideal for fast-paced FPS or racing games it is literally the world’s first monitor that supports this dual mode feature at a press of a button obviously this is designed to be used on PC rather than consoles but it’s incredible that they’ve added this with a physical button to save you messing around in the settings this really is like having two monitors in one now you can also use this button to swap the screen size as well so whatever setting you choose

here will change the screen size as well when you press the button either full wide 27 in or 24 in of course at this size this monitor is also perfect for movs and watching TV I mean it’s mad to think about 15 years ago 32 in was the normal size people would pick for the living room TVs and here we are choosing a 32 in for our desk now because of those perfect black levels great viewing angles and color reproduction any movies whether an SDR or HDR truly come to life on the screen there’s no

ghosting no light bleed and no issues with contrast I guess at this size this could double up as a TV in your bedroom or your study and one of the most underrated features that we’ve seen added to this 2024 monitor is the addition of speakers now it might not sound like a big deal but for those of us that sometimes just want to sit back and play a game without having to use external speakers or headphones have an internal speakers is a GameChanger so what LG have done is integrate something called pixel sound this means

instead of having having backwards or downwards firing speakers like we’d normally have on TVs or other monitors they’ve placed the speakers behind the screen Instead This Means the sound literally emits through the screen I’ll be honest I wasn’t sure how this would sound but having listened to it now it feels far more immersive this way it also supports DTS virtual X so we can give a virtual surround sound on supported games but here’s a quick sound test just to give you an idea of what they sound like I thought you said this was a startup

yeah I was hoping for something a little less so what do you think I wanted to quickly touch on using this screen for productivity so it comes with a display port 1.4 and two HDMI 2.1 ports which means we can use it with a PC or a laptop for me that’s either a Windows laptop or a MacBook Pro now the screen is bright it’s vibrant and as mentioned earlier the text Clarity is very impressive and because of the New Order of the OLED sub pixels they’ve managed to reduce the color fringing around on the text

and this gives us clearer and easier to read letters pair that with the 4K resolution and it’s a nice screen for reading and writing text and one that I would happily use for productivity the only issue that you might worry about is screen retention but due to the OLED screen protection built in such as screen savers pixel moving and pixel refresh it really isn’t something worth worrying about but just bearing in mind that there’s no USBC port on the back so if you do have a laptop that has a USBC Port you might want to

use one of these cables instead the menus and the UI is the same as what we’ve seen before and it’s simple but effective firstly we get the quick game Optimizer mode which shows us the current refresh rate if vrr is enabled and which game mode is in use but there’s also the main settings area as well so in here we have the game mode dual mode vrr and a black stabilizer setting as well we can also adjust the brightness sharpness and the color temp as well as some sound and input settings as well and then

under General there’s the OLED settings and the rear LED lighting where you can change the colors of the LEDs or turn them off completely unfortunately there’s no remote with this 20 24 monitor though which is surprising as we did have one with the previous model I always found it super useful for accessing the menus instead of using the little joystick on the back of the screen but in summary this is probably one of the most anticipated gaming monitors in 2024 and you know what it’s turned out to be a great screen firstly if you’re just

after a 4K 32-in OLED screen regardless of the refresh rate this just looks incredible for me it is a perfect size for both FPS and story driven games then with the internal speakers a 2-year warranty freey and G syn support and of course that dual mode button it will take a lot of boxes for PC Gamers as well now I guess it comes down to two deciding factors one is do you prefer an anti-glare or glossy finish and the other is the price as it’s not cheap but a 32in 4K OLED with these specs was

never going to be cheap pre-orders are now live on the LG website which I have linked to below so you can see how much it is in your country so what do you think to this new LG Monitor and do you think it’s something you would add to your setup and if not what would you go for next now drop a gaming OLED in the comments and I’ll give you a thumbs up for staying right till the end and if you did enjoy today’s video check out my 2024 living room tour video next as that
