McFarlane Jon Snow Unboxing and Review | That New Toy Smell #14
ah hello everybody welcome to a brand new episode
of that new toy smell i’m your host mitch live
and today we are having a look at jon snow
from game of thrones by mcfarlane toys
so here we have uh the bastard of winterfell jon
snow the true king of the north the rightful heir
to the oh my god spoilers spoilers i’m sure you’ve
already seen game of thrones if you’re watching
this video here we have jon snow the supposed
bastard son of ned stark from winterfell the
box that he comes in stands over 11 inches about
11 and an eighth of an inch tall it is a classic
plastic blister packaging and it shows the game
of thrones logo uh the house targaryen symbol uh
which is kind of a spoiler right there in itself
because why wouldn’t he be rocking the uh stark
house sigil there but nonetheless the targaryen
sigil and it says jon snow up here it says the
hbo logo the mcfarlane toys logo and it lets you
know that this toy is only for those 12 years and
older on the side of the package the sort of
angled side of the package that just kind of uh
just kind of rolls right over
a little picture of the iron throne and it gives
you this warning stating that of course game of
thrones is a show for adults only on the back of
the box uh which we will tilt sideways because
it appears to be the way it’s meant to be shown
it shows you the other figures that come in this
toy line including daenerys targaryen the night
king arya stark and viserion we have already
done a review for this figure the night king
and we’ve got a few more uh game of thrones figure
reviews from this series on the way so make sure
to hit that subscribe button and keep checking
back for more episodes all right let’s crack in
and here’s the figure out of his package
and everything that he comes with
he just barely stands by himself without the stand
which is a quality i love in a figure uh he’s
really temperamental though if i were to touch
him a little bit he would probably oh yeah there
you go fell over and uh he doesn’t stand the first
time you try to get him to stand but it’s possible
oh there we go this is a six-inch figure line
by mcfarlane toys and this figure stands exactly
he was just a hair over six inches i
think he stands exactly the same height
as the night king did uh because i remember
measuring him in our last episode he comes with
a black stand with a white game of thrones logo
also the same as the other figures in this line
all right now he’s going to stay standing
he has basically all the exact same points
of articulation as the other figures from this
character line which is about 14 or 15 points of
articulation you can get pretty much all the most
basic poses that you want or need for a jon snow
he comes with a sword uh and he comes with a
dagger we’ll see if we can get both in his hand
slowly work it in
ah there we go for the north he does a great job
of holding his weapons and it was much easier
getting them in his hands as opposed to the night
king which uh his hands were too tightly closed
and his his fingers felt too fragile it was just
it was too close but uh jon snow was easily able
to hold uh this dragon glass dagger and his
iconic sword long claw so in terms of likeness
his the details in his face are a little
underwhelming i’ll be totally honest the night
king’s face looked detailed and uh really fierce
really badass this one not so much i mean you
definitely know it’s jon snow but for mcfarlane
toys i’d expect a little more uh especially if
i were to compare him to uh the funko jon snow
i think funko jon snow was like kind of maybe
a little better i don’t know they were both not
perfect but i i just have a higher standard for
mcfarlane toys come on guys his clothes are all
a thick uh slightly movable rubber they they look
pretty real there’s a shiny rubber here for his
metal chest plate which features the uh the sigil
of house stark based on his outfit this has got to
be jon snow from season eight of game of thrones
you know the most loved season from all game of
thrones so besides the uh likeness in the face
everything else is is pretty good quality
i’ll give it full marks everywhere else
oh oh except now we gotta look at the accessories
uh dragonglass sword yeah actually pretty cool
it’s just a little bit translucent it looks like
actually does a really good job of looking like
uh dragonglass from the show so full marks
on the dagger the sword is supposed to be
very recognizable it’s supposed to be long claw
you could tell cause it just barely has the shape
of a wolf’s face and it’s like not even white and
it’s supposed to be white yeah again this is where
the funko toy line did at least as good as them or
maybe even better and uh funko makes pop figures
for christ’s sake and this is mcfarlane toys other
than the two complaints noted about the likeness
in his face and the detail in the sword it’s a
pretty decent quality figure stands up to all
the other toys in this line and this brings us to
the end of another episode of that new toy smell
