okay it is a subjective experience just like comedy is subjective so if you don’t like my take deal with it okay go cry in the corner you know write a little mean comment so just remember this high on life game review is based around my opinions okay and I’m gonna be criticizing the game as much as I possibly can with an objective View and with an unbiased opinion but remember that of course my perspectives will differ from yours join the channel if you want people to expose The Establishment to call out for corporate BS and
the agenda and let’s go so with this high on life review I’m gonna lay it out a little bit different from my other game reviews I’m going to give you a positive but I’m gonna give you a negative I’m going to give you a positive then I’m gonna give you a negative okay so the first positive of this game is the environments okay if the environment’s in high on life are absolutely amazing and they are truly creative with high on life you want to explore you want to explore every nook and cranny because you can
tell that the creators for art direction for this game they truly have an imagination and a wacky style so the first thing I have to say is the environment design here is excellent okay you want to explore each and every little hidden area you want to explore every nook and cranny because the art design team here truly have an imagination and they care about creating something wacky and unique and that’s a great plus okay also you do have some freedom of choice in this I’m not gonna say that your dialogue choices actually impact the game
and at the end of the day it’s not going to be like mass effect of course but you can choose what to ask NPCs you can have some agency you can have some kind of agency here with having conversations back and forth with these wacky characters and find out more information about the world it’s not going to change for actual gameplay but it does make you feel more a part of this world and you can only do that with some characters but it does still add to the game in my opinion and that’s great when
you are exploring around a weird alien environment you come across a weird character and you can have a conversation with it that’s great okay now the negative okay for humor in this game boy boy is it okay is it bad now first let me just say if you love Rick and Morty if you’re a pre-teen okay if you haven’t had your balls dropped yet which might be the case then you’re gonna love this okay because this game is vulgar it’s just random XD random wow look at that unicorn flying over the rainbow and droplets of
gummy bears on me isn’t that fun money you know if you like that type of humor then you’re gonna love this okay it does remind me in some regards of Tiny Tina’s wonderlands where it’s just filled with corny dialogue and haha random equals funny you know go back and watch a PewDiePie video from 2012. It’s that kind of humor now I actually love PewDiePie and his humor now what I’m trying to say is this comedy is a more bombastic version of Rick and Morty if that’s even possible and you might think that sounds crazy because
Rick and Morty is already just zany wacky and out there and that’s what makes it funny but this just you know is next level and I personally don’t like it now that’s not to say that there aren’t some good jokes in here and sometimes you get those moments where oh my God this is great I’m laughing it’s all working you know you’re not annoyed by the talking guns and they’re actually adding to the immersion and to the funny wackiness of the this world space but sadly most of the times the talking guns for NPCs they
are Relentless in their delivery of these terrible one-liners these terrible jokes patrolling high on life almost makes you wish for a nuclear winter Bateman now if you’re not aware this is where my you know subjective opinion comes in I hate Rick and Morty now oh I just lost everyone on this video I’m not gonna get any new subscribers everyone’s gonna downvote this video now just remember okay just hear me out I don’t hate Rick and Morty in fact I’m a massive fan of Rick and Morty the first couple of Seasons okay season one season two
and season three are great okay it’s my humble opinion that Rick and Morty fell off a cliff when they changed the writing team and I’ve made a massive playlist of how Rick and Morty documenting how Rick and Morty just went off a cliff and it completely fell off if you ask me and it’s now just catering to the random XD kids who still love Rick and Morty um there are episodes now invent that are still good but they are nothing compared to the original and just go back and watch season one and then jump to
the latest season it’s completely night and day and I’m not gonna get into that but I feel that the humor here sometimes it’s like a mixed bag sometimes you get good jokes like from season one of Rick and Morty but most of the time it’s random cut away you know slapstick Family Guy type humor that are just Relentless and you know they just keep bombarding you with jokes hoping that one of them will make you laugh and it doesn’t give you enough time to breathe or digest you know the actual comedy but there are moments
like that where you get to see the NPCs just interacting with each other and you do something like kill one of them or interact with them in a certain way and that will cause a reaction and then one of them might say something funny that kind of stuff is great and it does work I’m not saying this is not a funny game but it only works some of the time that’s the problem but if you’re a massive Rick and Morty fan and you love Justin Roland and his type of humor then you’re gonna love this
because this is 100 his humor and it’s completely Relentless so if you aren’t tired of his improv and his Relentless two character voices that’s the only thing that he knows how to do now you know everyone in this is either Rick or Morty let’s be honest and to be honest I’m sick of it you know he is such a one note comedian if you ask me but that’s just my opinion but it does work some of the time um and I don’t want to make this video All About The Comedy but sadly this game instead
of you know focusing on the gameplay this game is so interconnected with Justin Roland and his type of Comedy that you can’t separate the two sadly there is no option just to switch off the jokes or anything like that if you get this game you have to have the zany and very one note comedy of Justin Roland but improv for like I said just Rick and Morty which has been done now for the last like six years or whatever it’s been if you ask me it’s gotten very old but that’s just my take on it
but you can’t separate the two so that’s why if you don’t like that or if you’re like me and you’re a bit jaded of Rick and Morty and you like the older stuff but you don’t like the newer stuff and you want some new interesting jokes that are actually engaging and make you think which have some emotional impact like the first couple of seasons did um you’re not gonna get any of that here it’s all just one big goof okay it’s one big Goofy Gaff and none of it is none of it has any comedic
weight and it’s only in the rare moments of complete Randomness and one liners that actually do land and like I said that is subjective so um you know take that part of this review with a grain of salt but I do just have to say my opinions and what I think of it okay so now A Plus is the guns are cool okay the gun animation’s here are great okay you don’t get to see many games that have weird gun designs maybe with scorn but you know having a talking gun and reloading them you know
with these weird animations that’s just zany and I love that I love the art direction of this game another plus this is kind of intertwined with the same thing is you can upgrade your guns you know nothing absolutely crazy it’s stuff that we’ve seen before but it’s not just a comedy game that is actually good FPS gameplay in this where you can upgrade your abilities you know you can get a dash ability you can slide you can do slow motion and the cool thing is your guns have an alternate firing mode and a primary firing
mode which is great because basically it means you can use an alternate firing mode and it will cause a chain reaction with the primary firing mode and it just plays off of each other so well and I think that was great you know it’s like the Ratchet and Clank reboot for the PS5 um I don’t know if anyone’s played that but it works well and yeah I just think that’s a good design it keeps combat flowing and you know it engages you in thinking about you know how to mix up these different guns and for
different firing modes and using your environment around you and stuff like that which is pretty good now the next negative is for graphics now I don’t care about Graphics like I said I’m more focused around art design and for graphics here aren’t bad but there is a problem okay this game looks like it was made in dreams okay that’s just my personal opinion and what I mean by that the textures here have this weird blurry and kind of fuzzy quality to them anti-aliasing anti-aliasing is that how you say it I’m pretty I’ve gotta be I’m
pretty mentally that excuse me I’m mentally Divergent so if I’m pronouncing things incorrectly please make fun of me in the comments okay I’ll appreciate it but um yeah this game just looks off materials don’t interact with light how they should you know a metal might look like a fuzzy carpet and it’s just got this blurry look to it and I hope that gets patched but on the preview build that I’ve played it looks like that so um that’s just a warning uh another positive is like I said back to the guns you have four unique
guns okay and each one of them have personalities and some of them are actually funny and you want to spend time with them it’s like you know having a companion but it’s a gun with you like having a Skyrim companion in a form of a weapon oh it’s pretty cool and I like the UniQue Ideas here it’s just a shame it’s bombarded with such Relentless dialogue sometimes you just want to enjoy the world space and interact with the NPCs and you as a player gets to choose who you want to interact with that’s what I
enjoy about this game those moments and when the comedy lands when you see a funny ad commercial and but improv isn’t just you know random coming out of Justin’s mouth and he thinks everything that comes out of his mouth is worth putting in you know the TV show or the game or anything that he makes even though a lot of it is just gibberish but when that lands that’s when it’s great because it’s like for example I don’t know okay for example if you go to a different country and you’re on holiday and you’re looking
for a restaurant to eat a lot of people will try and you know Usher you into the restaurant you know come here come here my pizza is the best place in Overland come and eat here you know and sometimes they can be so so relentless even if the food is good even if the restaurant is of high quality they are so persistent that it boots you off okay that’s exactly how I feel about this game you know it’s just so relentless with its comedy that it just puts me off the whole thing even though I
know there are great moments in this if I just took a chill pill if it just you know calmed down a little bit then I think that would make this game a lot better so the final negative is I would say there is too much improv there are great quality lines of dialogue in this and you know super cool character designs and stuff like that funny you know little commercials and actual full movies that you can interact with you can play Miniature games within the game stuff like that which I really like I like the
fact that this is not just a corridor that you go through you know it may be rather linear but there’s a lot of things you can interact with and sometimes the written dialogue here is great and it’s classic original Rick and Morty humor and it’s funny it’s dark it’s morbid at the same time a lot of it just feels like random gibberish and I don’t like that and finally for Boss encounters that you have in this game are laughably simplistic and terrible and just bad it’s not a challenging game for gameplay mechanics here like I
said aren’t the best because it’s a very simple shooter at the end of the day with a simple upgrade tree but they do have some unique abilities that I haven’t seen in many other FPS games but what makes this game good is the world space is for interacting with their characters in this world space is the art style and sometimes the humor works all of that stuff is good but then on the other side you have the Relentless Rick and Morty Justin Roland humor and some people are gonna love that that’s gonna be a positive
for them but for me that’s a negative because it’s too Relentless and most of the jokes don’t land then you’ve got the simplistic game design of it being a very simple shooter and the combat feels kind of lackluster for kind of fuzzy and Bluey Graphics I did encounter some FPS problems as well which just makes it feel very generic and safe if they took more creative risk with the gameplay and eased up a little bit on the zany humor this would be a great game and I would recommend it at the moment I would say
I do not recommend this unless on a deep sale like I said never pre-order games because for modern day gaming industry are scumbags now and they lie to you it’s all about marketing it’s all about trying to milk as much money from the consumer with Justin Roland and his gaming company I do believe they actually are passionate about making good quality games for the fans and for consumers so I don’t think that they are untrustworthy if you’re a fan of Rick and Morty and this type of humor you’re gonna definitely have a good time with
this and I would say it’s worth it but if you’re like me and you’re a little bit jaded on it I would say wait and do not get this as it stands I hope you enjoyed my review of high on life my high on life game review I was pretty honest and fair I think I’m sorry if I have some hot takes but I’ve gotta be honest with you and that’s just my opinion there are glitches and stuff like that you know people NPCs glitching into the environment glitches like reloading to a past checkpoint you
