Japan plane crash: 5 dead after planes collide at Tokyo airport

On the runway at Tokyo’s airport and burst into flames. And now we’re learning at least five people died. KTVU you is. Amanda Quintana is here. You have the details. Good morning. Amanda. Good morning. Yeah. And we have some pretty incredible video of this as well. You can see immediately as the plane lands, it goes up in flames and we now know it collided with a Coast Guard aircraft after landing. And Japan’s Coast Guard says five crew members died in that collision. The pilot of the Coast Guard plane was able to get out and contact officials,

but there are reports that he is seriously injured. The other five crew members did not make it out in time. Now, as for the passenger plane, all 379 occupants were able to safely evacuate, but at least 11 of them are being treated for injuries. Video shows the plane quickly become engulfed in flames. Emergency vehicles responded quickly, trying to put out the flames, but the fire had spread across too much of the plane. What caused the collision Guard says it’s investigating how the two planes came into contact. The Coast Guard plane was reportedly on its way

to help with a rescue and relief mission following an earthquake in Ishikawa. This happened at a time when airports are extremely busy for the New Year’s holiday,

and Tokyo’s airport is one of the busiest airports in Japan.
