But with that, such hard social messaging will be received, I had not thought that SRK can do something like this. Even before this film was released, people had already declared it a hit, and why would it be a hit, how will it recover its money – we understood after first day first show The question is, will this become a blockbuster film? Will it cross 1000? Some
people are saying it will cross 1500 crores. Will this SRK movie be able to save Bollywood, give direction? I still have some doubts on this. First of all, Bollywood boycott gang didn’t work properly. Can we all agree on this? To make Pathan cross 1000 crores, Bollywood boycott gang has given a lot of support to Bollywood. I believe that SRK should thank IT cell people at his house. Boycott trend for Jawan started only a few days ago, but went out of trend. There is no outrage about this movie. As there is no Besharam rang of Pathan,
no Kesariya of Brahmastra. There is Deepika, but not a 1000 crore worth soundtrack. Then how will it be hit? Editor this is an old song. I am talking about any new song. Anyway, the third most important flaw in this movie is that it has no Us vs. Them, religion in danger, Pakistan, Ghazwa-e-Hind. None of this is there. On Deshbhakt, we have shown you the data that shows that the top 3 movies of both years are either religion related or have Pakistan or ISIS. In contrast, in Jawan, we have been shown the hard social realities of
our country. Talking about these things is considered negative in today’s date. Such boring things shown like how loan agents who make people homeless with small loans. They ruin lives. Like they take away the tractor, they humiliate people. On the other hand, they forgive big rich people with loans worth billions. How small children die because of shortage of oxygen cylinder … and if someone goes on to investigate how business of oxygen is going on, then they are made criminal How world class hospitals like AIIMS Darbhanga are made but only on paper and the patients suffer Do
audiences want to see this? It worked 10-20 years ago – questioning the system, rebellion against system and showing contractors of system their place. Do you remember Kamal Haasan’s Hindustani? Do you remember Aamir Khan’s Rang de Basanti? Have you seen Nasiruddin Shah’s A Wednesday? There was a time when the public’s eyes were open, they could see the mistakes, now everything is in vain. On a serious note, Shahrukh Khan’s Jawan should be called a rebellion. This movie is a rebellion against the system. It is a rebellion against those who say SRK doesn’t speak up. It is a
rebellion against the sleeping people who see injustice happening but remain silent. Jawan is Shahrukh’s biggest contribution to Bollywood. At a time when the industry is in a bad shape, and the heart is broken, Jawan shows a way, a pan-India film, excellent casting. If female lead is Deepika and Nayan Tara, then villain Kali, played by Vijay Sethupathi, gives a tough fight to SRK. If it’s Atlee, then you will definitely get the South’s flavor. Larger than life action sequences. But social messaging that forces you to think. Can such slick action movies with social commentary become the future
formula of Bollywood ? In fact, Jawan is technically not a Bollywood movie. It is a pan-Indian film – see the direction, star cast, etc. If Bollywood wants to save itself from Bollywood, then Bollywood has to come out of the nepotism Where, by the way, airport look and gym look are more important than acting and direction in movies. And it’s not like everything is good in Jawan. The storyline is a little too inspired. You can clearly see the imprint of Money Heist. That there is a professor and his girls. Sometimes the storyline is very disjointed. It’s
a rough cut… feels like the movie has been chopped. And as it happens in many South movies, the father and son’s love is being united in the middle of the fight sequence and everyone is standing. We can wait, you continue reunion. We can fight later. These are all minor points. The major point is the message of the movie. I won’t tell the storyline, but there is a small part that I would like to mention. When SRK gives a message in the name of the public on live broadcast, and says that what we poke fingers everywhere
– this finger has another function, to vote. But do we think before voting? Before buying mosquito coil, we will ask 5-10 questions. But before choosing a leader, do we ask 2 questions? In Jawan, SRK says the same thing that we say on Deshbhakt daily: question everything. If you ask 2-4 questions, it will be good for the country. Maybe we have never said this about a Bollywood movie, but if Jawan does not do well at the box office, it will not be fault of makers and cast, it is the fault of the public. After OMG-2 and
Jawan, faith is returning on Bollywood. I agree that fake propaganda films like The Kerala Story will be made, but as long as there are factual pictures that question the system, which have drama, action, some social consciousness, till then Bollywood is at least on the right track And if Jawans really beats Pathan, becomes a mega super blockbuster, then it is possible that, without relying on religion – the producers and directors make movies that raise questions on the system and society. They should entertain people and earn money. This will be the win-win formula for the country without
dividing it. One last thing, a small spoiler. I have seen in Bollywood movies since childhood that the moment the villain is dying, hero catches villain, the police comes to arrest villain, exactly at that time. This movie is a rebellion against the formula. The hero does a good job, but the police doesn’t stop him. I won’t ask you to do your duty. You can go to the hall or not, it’s your choice. But for once, the biggest star has brought something new to the screen which should be appreciated at least. And it should be understood that
