We’re live with the latest. >> Then holiday road. Millions on the move this morning. I wish I would have left yesterday and the day before has it major storm causes concern on the roads and at the airport aus got your full forecast. Plus top of the giant billboard overnight releasing their number one for 2023. So who made the list? We’re breaking it all down. A pop

star and the final countdown. The turkey is calling the ban is in place and we’ve got your last meeting by the state giving with the one and only find a garden live in studio. They keep her favorite dish and answering your questions today. Wednesday, November 22nd 2023. >> Celebrating 40 years of friendship on the show. Morristown New Jersey sending love to Emily. Well, Kentucky and we finally made. >> We’re back now. It’s a Thanksgiving Eve with the queen of keeping things simple are friend Ina Garten and the head of the biggest cooking day of the

year. We asked you at home to send us your questions that you’ve always wanted to ask. >> I. Yeah. Good morning. Thank you for being here for all of us in

need. I know you have a really simple philosophy when you’re hosting. >> Make a dish. Assemble a dish and buy a dish? That’s what I think’s giving even on Thanksgiving. You know, one of the things I always do is say look around me and see what people make. That’s really good, especially food store that makes really good stuff thing. Somebody else that makes it, you

know, a good side dish and then makes you are saying something. You don’t have a good time. I know you want to enjoy the day and so like having your hair on fire the Tahoe. It’s not. That’s not fun to poke fun. Well, but every hour with a cocktail was good. Everybody, including the host need to haha. So seasonal. Tell us how you make it. What is it expresses its a cranberry Martini. Okay. To get everybody in the festive. Oh, my gosh. Oh, it’s criminal to taste. Good. Yeah. From bridges. Knock a little triple SEC

a large and you just shake up the list with ice just like that. Well and good. But little cranberries and dry trend or just a little bit different from Ida. We like we like from predators. Just try it. You know, I want to shine sick had to this. This is so good, Thanksgiving. Happy Thanksgiving. Happy Thanksgiving to let. Yeah. And it looks like the holidays, really Tahoe in the mood, OK, now, listen, have your dream because we’ve got some big questions from hit this. This is a week. There were some questions. We’ve got more than

any other. One is a very hot debate. Yes, I know. Wet or dry. Brian Aho, by the way, I was like what is the bright? But a lot of run. Normally what people do is they give huge pass yet. They put the turkey in the pot and they do a wet from which they fill the pot with water. Yeah. With salt and the salt in the seasonings get into the turkey, which is great. But you take everything out of your refrigerator. Just a huge pot of water in the extra just crazy. So I do a

dry brine, which is basically this its salt kosher salt and fresh time leaves just add right in and then someone’s a**. Right? And just and the turkey is on just on a tray, OK, just to determine just system this. When you do the crime, you can do it a day, 2 days, 3 days before work. And just the U.S. what you want to have time to get in there, OK, we’re really just do it. And then what I do is I actually wrote it on. But I’m not going to do that right now and just

put it on the top of the turkey. Allow a lot of all. But that’s a lot of smoke a ticket. So you put it in the church and you get in the jerky. And then when you roast it, the flavor isn’t that just on the outside and it doesn’t taste salty and that’s just as good as a wet, right? I think it’s better really. I think it works better. And I think it’s just it really gives that Turkey enormous labor and also when you uncover it at the last minute, yeah, it’s just nice and Christmas,

right? Real quick. Let’s talk Turkey and Turkey is it can be dry. How do you get a juicy turkey? I think the key is not overcooking it. I don’t know why people use to put the turkey in the oven like at 3 in the morning. I can say aha. Of course it was going to be dry. A turkey. It like this is a like a 12 to 14 pound turkey at 3.25. Cooks and a 2 or 2 and a half out, OK? That’s it. And what I do is I I make it ahead. Yes, I

make it in the morning. I let it sit at room temperature and then I take gravy. That made ahead. Yes, and that just for a lot of the grill all day over, haven’t put it on and then I take the turkey. That’s how you set up. So get this. This is like before you but then our before people coming to our Vitt, you serve it, put everything on hold. Here’s for likely fingers course. And then you put everything on on the platter of gravy. Yeah. And what happens is the gravy keeps everything, moist and flavorful.

That’s so good times. All right. I cover with foil. Come to me. And what you do is you put it in the oven or really that we have and it’s fabulous. It’s just that talk. Let’s talk cited sides are big thing but people don’t want to spend all their time making sides. And that’s one of our big questions. How what’s a shortcut for side side of things that are already prepped? Okay. So that she wasn’t slow hard to kind of a bonus was. Yeah. Okay. What about what does this end instead like I made bread

pudding instead of stuffing. Yeah. And what it sometimes you do. If someone if I’m in a hurry to use packaged stuffing mix instead the yeah. But I do with that. I know what later. We’re going to make mushroom and leek bread pudding and you can make it with this instead of tossing this. I don’t feel guilty. House don’t know by by this. This is a big, big, big tip. So you’ve taken mashed potatoes to the grocery store. What he may have already passed in the refrigerated section. You might ask buyers by now and then what

I do is make Parmesan sour cream like a double boiler. Almost. You just clips of all. It keeps the talk and then I and so were creamed. Look, we’re doing here. Look at what’s going on. She is farm and butter core like judging up to store-bought salt and pepper locator. Look at it. What a great prep. I was. A boy keeps it warm while arm on top of the stuff you have to worry beginning in the stove or the turkeys are not enough. Right? Another pot, by the way, you just serve in the bowl and

exactly. And it is so delicious that’s going to has never seen that, right? I have to say this. Nobody will know. But you know what it was but a toast to to you. I made it that the this is apparently the number one question that we got from all over the years. They want to know because your paws are legendary. They want to know how to make the perfect crispy pie crust. What’s what’s islands tip for the project out there? Actually 3 things. One is to use metal plight and snowpack because I think the metal

conducts heat better so that the bottom gets crowned. The second thing is when you make the do you want little pieces of butter in the dough. So when the heat hits the butter, it causes steam to evaporate and that makes a flaky pie crust, some butter in the DA in the do. How do you know do in the pan? And now this is the key is you don’t want to stretch it at all that if you stretch it is going to shrink back immediately. So you put it in the pan, do it in quarters like

this and use it all and you just lay it in the pan. You don’t stretch it. And the president right now you have a pie crust yet. That’s just fabulous. That was so small the in the crosshairs. And that’s it’s really important that you can see that the second most popular question trying to guard would which is why what is and is favorite Thanksgiving dish stuffing still have to use except instead of stuffing. I do read putting which is just like Ali can mushroom bread pudding which I think we’re doing later. Yeah, but you are.

It’s crisp on the top and it’s creamy on the bottom. Yes, exactly accepting Ocala. As I just mentioned, she’s will stick around to show us how to make a dish that you’re going to want to add to that holiday lineup. So and there’s more time. She’s also more questions as well. Dot com slash food for all of the aim. Is Thanksgiving advice. Grab a cocktail to Memphis later over making mashed potato. That whose union that? Yeah. Double. Fantastic. Sour cream. Little small. Hawaii. Wow. That’s some of the more. That’s the best time for the first

pop star. I think Pop starts in your way. Excuse me. Enjoy falls. Enjoy. Let’s get started. Pop-Tarts. all of your most asked questions about hosting. We’ll get to those in a minute. But first, I know there’s nothing better than hearing. What is your favorite Thanksgiving dish and how do we make it? >> It turns out is everybody’s favorite Thanksgiving dish? Everybody. Love stuffing. Yeah, I don’t like stuffing in the turkey because it gets that kind of mushy. I like to make a bread pudding. Like a savory bread pudding with the stuffing ingredients. So I’m making we can mushroom bread. Pudding. Officials had to do that. So what I’m what I first did was

I saw Tatum’s potential to leaks. So it’s with the pension and then cook the leeks and that and then adding mushrooms to that and and some target to input that aren’t in yet. And just to take those together. Yeah, because I like mushrooms and sharing together. Yes, the smells wonderful. Yes, I’m going to share it to the pan and just such a those together until the mushrooms cook, OK, that’s all the time took down. That could set aside for a minute and 100 times and then I have testing bread croutons right to a head line

around. Whatever you have lying around what I made of custard, which is cream and eggs and chicken stock and lots of Korean air from my greatest memory tomorrow. Thanks. Here’s waking up early to the snow. Jimmy Dean sausage, my mom working on that. That stuffing and coming down the eating some of the stuff once it’s cooked. It’s not my favorite quote. This is like a grease is look at Christie this on this option. This and it’s got lots of Greer and it and then you put the mushroom and leek and pension a mixture in it

and he just makes the whole thing together and just put it in a pan and bake it. So I love about your stuff like that. That was not a those are still talking about store bought. You should get over to our exactly. And you can make in the big tests are like that or even small. What do you put this back in the bake it off and that’s that put it in the Senate. Yeah. A little more green are on top and there you are. Okay. Awesome. Some outside. >> Can’t we just have a little

taste? That one just came out of the oven. >> I walked over and get so different than stuffing which which scratches the itch for stopping by at stopping exactly. What about your table? What you put on it. How do you like to generate content? >> Really simple. You can get the ingredients in the grocery store full. So if you get a garland like this, when the from a florist or even sometimes you can get at the grocery store, bring the fruit of rush. So I make like a della Roe v respect. That’s a talent that

Italian painter. And you just put all kinds of fruit. All wow, along along with only you. I mean, look at this. And it’s just sand shy at any time and time for him to have a little sickle pairs like for you. Don’t want too big for sending in the middle of the Lake City. Also like you is that gorgeous. And it looks very holiday issue there. And then you know what? You can eat it. His little apple, Sadie apples and some para a double. It’s edible and then for dessert, everybody can just eat the fruit.

And I was very festive holiday ish and like it was really sick. I spent a few made it look easy. Okay. I was waiting all come have an important one because when the meal is over and you want to give stuff away for people to take home. But it’s always curious like Hattie a package. And how do you make sure things don’t get mixed up so much for everybody have a to go back Thanksgiving so you can make Thanksgiving sandwiches the next day that so what I do is I just have little bags like this

and everybody gets like a big test for to win it. So first, we have want to do so you’re sure somewhat of a have some mashed potatoes, turkey in this one, just turkey just that you separate, you know, put things together. Exactly. Okay. So to then go severe avian in a in a ball of Brian and Jay Z was to get these every time you order food in. And I just say that it’s safe. Okay with that some of the time she was craving and then what about cranberry and all the rest were demand that

put some bread in a bread guys are such as a bridge for everybody. Okay, right into the bag or slices and then and then we’ve got turkey and gravy. Any want to put some mashed potatoes and another one and another one of those looking at this. Look at look at our goal that they are here. Casey Scoop, Asher and sauce. Okay. By the way, brilliant. I mean, really isn’t a great cause. So many people want Turkey saying what? We all know what they’re doing. They’re eating your favorite dish. put into it. Well, it’s not that

like what? You love a French onion soup that she’s layer like scratches that Stow Lake Tahoe. And look, I wanted to with yeah. You so much so much fun. Happy think they go to the or Turkey day of stories today. Com live >> This morning. On the 3rd hour of today getaway day. This is the

3rd hour of today. >> Thanksgiving Day for a all right. That is the Texas Tech’s universities going banned from waiter. Land. I’ve got this morning giving us a preview of their performance of Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade tomorrow. What a great start. So yeah, we’re all in the holiday mood this morning. Welcome to the 3rd hour today on this Wednesday morning. Thanksgiving Eve that yes, Chanel along with Allen Craig Dylan is still making a list checking it twice like she literally had. As you guys have seen that handwritten note Hand writes that pick spiral. All the

things that before we can enjoy Thanksgiving. We have to get their first ride. It’s crunch time for the big holiday west. But the you’re driving or flying, you can expect big crowds on the move all day long. In fact, look at this. We’re all already seeing huge lines forming at the airport. And that’s where we find NBC’s Tom Costello has that Castillo National Airport. That’s half L nationally for that says camera on top of his head and said go for it to run into people. Good morning to you. >> I actually did shoot that video

this morning and I told the control room speed it up. Not all serious as a heart attack. I use my iPhone because it is where it was really crowded to 07:00AM not. Here’s the deal to give you the scene setter. Okay. You know how this goes have an airport at an airport, right? We have banks of flights. So the morning bank in almost every airport the country is right around 07:00AM. I shot that video with 07:00AM. Let me show you more of the video. Not in a Speedo fashion because it was crazy at 07:00AM here.

In fact, the lines extended all all the way out if you know, Reagan National Airport all the way out to the metro line. I mean, this was a 30 minute line this morning and they used dogs to speak people through the TSA checkpoint. What does that mean? It probably will be similar at an airport near you. If you’re flying today. Take my word for it. Gets there early. Not just 2 hours. I would recommend 3 because we are expecting 2.7 million people flying today. We had bad weather yesterday that cost a lot of airports to

play catch up this morning, including Reagan national, including Boston, including New York. And so today we’re in recovery mode. Good thing is weather is cooperating, OK? But if you’re driving like most of America, my advice is, you’re just hours away from the worst travel hours of the trip, you better get moving, get moving America. The clock is ticking. The nation’s airports and roads already filling up for the Turkey day getaway. We are anticipating a smooth ride. Haha on Tuesday, heavy rain slowed things down today. A better forecast. The best time to drive to date. Now

Till 11:00AM the worst times to to 06:00PM when traffic will be 11% heavier than normal. Not everyone hates to traffic. I like traveling on Thanksgiving a lot. But in the nation’s airports. I wish I would have left yesterday and the day before 2.6 million air travelers slowly snaked through checkpoints on Tuesday. Even more expected today in Phoenix and La Airport. Food workers have been on strike. >> These jobs to do was place today. I robot. >> Meanwhile, Southwest pilots and American flight attendants are threatening to strike but not for several weeks. If at all. You

know, the 48 randes push through and that Chicago O’Hare where United is the biggest carrier, it’s a full-court press. United is trusting you guys with their aircraft worth tens of millions of dollars and their passengers, hundreds of them at a time. Yeah, that’s a big responsibility. And when I train people, I always tell people to pretend like your family is on that plane. Lots of families this time of year in the terminal, United Agents on demand or the latest innovation. This is sh on them and how can I help today? Passengers just click the QR

code for a video connection. I’m leaving at 02:00PM to Washington. I’d love to go closer to 05:00PM. Is that possible? Yes, traffic. I have a flight at 5.16. >> If you like that, like people like to see people tax hike that human nature and human touch. So we still provide that without having to stand in line. >> No one likes ally, especially in a weather delay. 3 million people expected to fly on Sunday. That will be an all time record breaker. So again, get there early and it’s all up to our weather. The weather cooperates.

Last one thing for you guys trivia question. What is the busiest single runway in America? Can you tell me that there? Our total $100 hartsville Jackson. Haha. Reagan National. What’s it? What’s the Atlanta Huntsville, Jeff and binging binging. You got it. Runway one runway one here at Reagan national is the busiest single runway in America. You out? I mean, you’re right. Atlanta’s the busiest airport, but one runway, the busiest right here outside the door yet. >> I learn something every Thanksgiving time time. I >> Hope you get out of there. You see guys see later.

All right. We’ll time Tom alluded to the Thanksgiving Day forecast. Let’s take a look. Show you what we’ve got. First of all, you can see. >> On the radar, the the worst weather really right along the mid Atlantic into the northeast and New England. But that’s clearing off even now. In fact, new a New York City airports and Philadelphia about 15 minute delays. Thanksgiving Day, Turkey Creek, Washington, 27 Plymouth, Massachusetts, sunshine, 57 pumpkin. And then we move into the the interstates really only about I-25-I-70 may have some problems for today. Then we move on into

Sunday, which will be another big, big travel day. Greg’s traveling that day. I know with the family showers will develop down to the Gulf light snow around the Great Lakes, a sunshine out west. It will be cold in the Rockies but clear. So maybe some of the slight delays just probably from volume Boston, New York. But as you can see, Chicago’s a lot of green on there for those airports. Hopefully everybody is going to get it. Okay. Get to where they need to go after they have enjoyed the turkey and enjoy hopefully the Macy’s Thanksgiving

Day parade. >> Our parade coverage is beginning 30 minutes earlier, starting at 8.30, tomorrow morning. Savannah, Hoda myself. We are going to be out our Turkey, Tom, to ride the Turkey. Of course last year’s freeze. You’ve done, though. Do you know? 29 could haha. I will make sure we have the Jubilee for Yahoo. >> From the travel stress to the meal prep theirs, there’s only so much that can cause headaches and Thanksgiving if you’re in need of some last minute tips. Fear not. We have brought in the expert. NBC’s senior investigative correspondent Vicky Wynn has

some ways to cut down on the chaos. So we’ve been talking about travel here for folks who are about to get on a plane, maybe maybe going to find more like we are. >> What are some things that they should keep in mind? Okay. So Tom already went over the numbers in today’s probably going to be the busiest day at the airports. But the TSA says the number one thing that slows everybody down is when you bring the stuff on that you’re not supposed to. So remember, Sam Brock told us earlier this week it is

spreadable spill level or spreadable. You can’t have it more than 3.4 ounces and that includes peanut butter. They consider that to be a liquid. Okay. Yes. But there are some things you definitely can bring. Gifts are okay. Just keep them unwrapped. In case an officer wants to take a look inside baby supplies. If you have b***** milk or formula, you can carry on more than 3.0. 4 ounces and food is fine. As long as it’s frozen rock solid and it’s not thought and you’ve got a plan for those delays because it certainly. >> The Grade

II starts to melt. Yeah. Bring it with you. All right. Last minute. Meal prep. What is in your head? >> Okay. So if you are anywhere near a Denny’s or a Cracker Barrel, could they still have those re heat and serve meals available back? Bill has one for $100 right around there. Serving 4 to 6 people. It’s got everything. Denny’s is under 60 bucks. The turkey, the gravy stuffing, the mashed potatoes, cranberries and some sides as well. So that’s easy. Also on Thanksgiving Day itself, UberEATS Grubhub DoorDash. They’re all going to be operating. Let’s show

you the websites that are available for the grocery stores are open on limited hours. I should mention drizzly and mini bar there. Not everywhere, but they’ll go pick up alcohol for you on the day. Adding it. Yeah. But here you go. Yeah. Albertsons Ralphs, Safeway, sprouts, Acne and Whole Foods will all be open on Thanksgiving Day but limited hours out and do not go to Trader Joe’s Target or Walmart. They will be closed. All these 2. Really? Yeah. Try to get it. Not only which is actually really fantastic. Really nice. Okay. Haha, what are you

doing for? Thank you, cook and we got 7 people at the house. I love Thanksgiving because it’s just about the food the friend was to talk about cooking. I love to cook and really knew that and do all the staples. But new this year minute ride. Chocolate pecan pie over. But I got to get the bourbon today. >> Here. Yeah. All right. Happy Thanksgiving. Thank well. Now it is time for Friday football fever but on a Wednesday with lots of football action tomorrow, we like to bring in the big guns are good, buddy, Mister Steve,

for that. I know she’s going to be with us it coming up in the next segment. Previewing the Thanksgiving football. But you’ve got our Friday a trivia question, which of course is now. >> It’s it’s Mister Sunday. Football isn’t a Thursday. So your Friday football trivia is now on a Wednesday and here I am to deliver to in person and I want everyone to get this one right here. It is back in 1976. Okay. On a Wednesday the Seattle Seahawks officially became an expansion team in the NFL. But there was one other team also added

that season. Tell me who that team was. Not the 4 choices. Was it? The Arizona Cardinals beat the Baltimore Ravens see the Indianapolis Colts or D the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 1970, some going feet. I’m going to >> Well, I’m going to do as well because we know was the Ravens cardinals and come around that. So we’ll go with with local. >> All right. We’ve got 3 on the Buccaneers in the answer is the Tampa Bay Bucs. Yes, and you know, there you go. There’s the first coach to John McCain. There he started. And 26 look

at those uniforms. 40’s, only 26, but he did have in the NFC Championship game within 4 or 5 years, taking over a little minutes and then and those those creamsicle uniforms, if you remember that really set him apart. But all right, there you go. Congratulations, 3 who are going to be with us just a moment. But it was just a reminder the San Francisco Forty-niners. >> Taking on the Seattle Seahawks, what like that live coverage at 8 Eastern 7 central on NBC and Peacock. >> I would actually talk about that matchup with a few more

matchups coming up, sees going give us a preview. All 3 games that are happening on Tuesday. And then later, we’re going to meet the Vermont that setting a really incredible example for his kids, chopping firewood for neighbors in need. It is a heartwarming story. And that’s got this the 3rd hour of today, right back after this on this Thanksgiving Eve. family members, a lot of family members, football. It’s the real set to face of the Thanksgiving holiday. Our NBC News national political correspondent and khaki enthusiast and connected here to break down all the action on

Turkey Day. Good morning to you. Good morning. All right. So nothing fair fares better with Thanksgiving and the football. Remember, you know, growing up, of course, all the guys. I just kinda, everybody would so exciting matchups this year. Well, that’s it. We always have Thanksgiving football, but we’ve got good Thanksgiving. Football is not a given that 6. >> Let’s just take you through the matchups. It’s all going to start a midday. But the Packers at the Lions Lions always host that early afternoon game. But the Lions come into this game 8 into on that big

comeback win against Chicago. This is the best start the Lions have had to a season since 1960. 61 is why it at all that time. They’ve won one playoff game that was back in the 90 win season. So this could be a historic year for the Lions. Mid-afternoon, the commanders are going to take on the Cowboys again. The Cowboys traditionally have that late afternoon game. I really coming in strong shape. Haha. So rebuilding year, it was a commander’s. Listen. If they win out, they’ve got a slight chance. Haha, it is the Seahawks that’s going to

be the prime time a year. And this is for control of the NFC West Niners a game up on the Seahawks. The Seahawks had that tough loss against the Rams on Sunday. The quarterback Geno Smith banged up the running back could be out. But that 12th man in Seattle could that the fans could that carry them over to the good points to this is probably the best Thanksgiving Day football we’ve had in years as we head into some of these matchups. What are you keeping an eye on specific? Yeah. When you’re relying on the Lions

are going a lot of down years this year. We also got the brand-new Black Friday. You know, the NFL found another big day to put a game. You’ve got the Jets, the Dolphins. And what’s interesting about this one is the Jets are sitting. There are 4, 6, the switch quarterbacks this week. Can they stay on the fringes of the playoff hunt until mid late December because Aaron Rodgers is sending out signals that they’re still in the hunt around Christmas. He could come back for the final couple games. So that’s the issue for the Jets. Stay

alive. Stay in the hunt. Other implications here on the Thursday. You can take a look. We mentioned that Cowboys, the commanders, again, we mentioned the commanders a long shot here. Ford said intimate partner. So there’s a chance. Yes, yeah, yeah. When out in a lot of things maybe also have to happen. The Cowboys trying to get the NFC East title but they’re chasing the Eagles who I think show the other night. Sorry, Craig, against Kansas City. They look like the best team right now. And as we said, the Niners, the Seahawks NFC west supremacy on

the lake. The Niners play the Seahawks 3 times last year, 3 below apps including one in the playoffs against Seattle. Banged up there. OK, let’s go to food high. Okay. What’s the pie matches? So here we go. We always do the 50 state red blue map in politics. Where do the pineapple year? Google Relased released its top high searches recently. It is. Take a look at here. First was that is apple pie in case anyone is wondering and that is pumpkin pie and these with a runaway winner. J just see it. All the states here

in Brown. They are apple pie states. Plus the District of Columbia. OK, the states where we’re from. How did we are? Is that the same or know it? We’ve got Kansas. We’ve got New York. We’ve got South Carolina and New Jersey. We’ve got New Jersey there. Apple High High State. All of our I actually spoke. Grant those your home states. Yes. A year off from apple pie states. Yeah. There are only 6 on here that are that are pumpkin pie states and then there’s 2 total outliers. Hawaii has this coconut addition. It they’re trying to

pronounce K and Mississippi sweet potatoes. So it was that we would keep it did not testify. Does. Thank you state. >> Coming up, we’re going to love this story. How one act of kindness started a movement in Vermont where this family is chopping firewood to help keep their neighbors homes. Then later, we have got a house full of deep to me that in the nicest way past of ladies of the 80’s diva Christmas, we’ll tell us all about their fun. New movie has the 3rd hour of today all the time. Recently I visited with the

Vermont dad who found a way to show his children the value of giving back by literally warming the homes and hearts of those around them. He may look the part, but good Axelrod want you to know he’s not a professional longer. >> Weekends of out there volunteering because it’s an awesome commitment, right? It’s it’s something that I’ve I believe in. And to be clear, you’re not alone. I learned how to cut firewood safely. I get my home for almost 15 years. And you know, I’m good at watching YouTube videos. >> With a little prodding from

his family, Eric started a non-profit organization called Wouldn’t for Good in 2019, its mission to provide families in need with firewood to heat their homes. >> How did would for good come to do we have some extra would in our yard? And my wife said to me what you can do with all that next hour. We’ll have it for next year. And she why didn’t you give it to some families in need shortly thereafter? Might older son was really moved by a family that we brought with 2. And he said to me, you know, I

love this town. Want to do it every day. Welcome, everyone. Thanks for coming out. >> These days, Eric relies on a group of volunteers did Meet for weekend outing to help process and deliver the firewood. His sons Devon in Logan now 17 14 2 step kids, Leo and it all part of the core group. >> Actually delivering the what you see, the real smile like I’m not going to call this winter. We’ve had people who are, you know, bringing a furniture. They they have no way. They have no heat in Vermont where it gets really

cold may have something that I think everyone should have. >> When you finish loading the truck you finish putting a load of firewood to fuel your car, pushing something that that’s meaningful and you’re helping other people. >> It’s blue for folks who are familiar with winter in Vermont. Why firewood is so crucial. >> 40% of otters heat with wood to certain extent. Absolutely. >> Like many Vermonters Joyce, please del relies on a wood stove to heat her home. She contacted Eric after her husband underwent a surgery that made it impossible for them to split their

own firewood this year. >> We’re not the type of people who ask for help. We find a way to do it on our own. And when I did ask for it was just like instant that touched my heart. >> As you go from home to home, you probably see some folks are struggling. What have you seen over the years when you when you drop off, what >> we brought would to this family and their father? And just I didn’t know that we drop the wood off. Their younger daughter said dad used to do this and

the mom started crying. So it’s just kind of moving moments where it’s, you know, this is why we do it. >> I remember thinking like every time I come back to the would like to my God, how did you get this much Woods? But he puts his mind to doing something. It just it just it just gets done. >> It started as you and your 2 sons taking would to some families who needed it. Yes. What do you think you’ve >> How it’s really a privilege to be involved in giving back? Well, I feel really

firmly that the world would be a much better place if more people were involved. And it’s the fabric that brings us closer together because we’re we’re more alike than we are different and people who work together on helping people. I think it would help to heal some of the division. >> By the way, special thanks to the folks at Hudson Malone in Westport, Connecticut that hosted our conversation so far. Wood for good has delivered close to 90 dump trucks full of firewood this year alone. And by the way, you can find more uplifting stories like

But 2 of the ladies have old scores to settle the production of the highly anticipated live holiday episode. It the chaos that 5, Dana White place like I had no idea she was coming honestly. >> Well, then

what the h*** is she doing here? She had a change of heart. It’s odd. I didn’t think she had one. So so, Morgan, you

guys really get to play around with the soap opera troves. What was it like? >> Getting back into that genre. It’s so much fun. You know, I mean, you have a whole group of ladies may be other than Lonnie, like Bad Girls. So we go right into that mode. Yeah, it’s been fun doing it. So, yeah, it was fun being with all the girls again, you know, we all kind of knew each other and from various and sundry things that we’ve done. And it was really fun to come together. And these 2 were from my

childhood. I started in the business, said, aha, children to a lot younger hurdles. We did not slamming and then and then this was just such a sentimental, beautiful thing to do to reunite him to do this soap opera. But I must correct you knots landing was a nice high drama. >> He’s a good point. You know, even just your energy this morning didn’t feel empowering for all of you guys to to get together and do this. >> Always empowering being around strong women. None of them that we had so much fun because we have all

But I’m out of it this year because we are here and I go to somebody else’s house ordinance. I am flying back to LA tomorrow and thank you. Yeah, so that’s my Thanksgiving. But before you leave us this morning on a more serious note, Matthew Perry passed away a few weeks ago. And he is, you know,

it’s been so heartwarming to hear the memories from fans and his friends. What were you take away from some of your memories from working with him? Well, you know, I just always remember, Matthew, when I first I thought first met him because when when they offered me, the part of I do know I had only played mothers, a teenager. Suddenly they’re offering play mother of the bride and Groom 5 guy, man. And I remember Cicely Tyson saying to me, you know, you’re too young to play that guys. Yeah, but, you know, I thought the show

had potential. It wasn’t a big hit yet. I was right that I got so I took it apart. And then the first day on the ship, Matthew comes bounding over to maybe a way. It is a big puppy dog energy that he always had and said you won’t remember me, but I used to hang out on the Flamingo Road. Doctor, Chris, set with you. I said you didn’t know. And Perry’s my father who played the sheriff and all the show and I get that little kid, which you like that I guess I’m old enough to.

That’s amazing when he was just so lovely. And, you know, I I was so touched because to a lot of the world that means Chandler’s mom. And so I I was receiving a lot of the condolences to you. And it was very touching to see how many lives that he touched, that people felt he was their friend and then identified with him. And those are the stories about he got me that character that got me through rough times in my life. And this was a lasting legacy. He was a bright light is still isn’t able

never be snuffed. Haha, Ladies, thank you. So thank you. So so happy she ate happy Thanksgiving. That’s right. She’s got some real crowd

pleasers for us this morning. We should mention both of these recipes are actually in this new cookbook of the 60 needed the cookbook with her. >> She is. And I said, you know, we’re not doing those fancy coffee table books. Want to tell it like it is. So it’s the story of my daughter and me and everybody else through food. And, you know, we need lots of recipes right now for Thanksgiving. Everybody forgets how to cook, right? Yes, you this is over Beazley York. You back and she used it like cheese sauce here with just

would you start your actions and I am look at this. So you make the cheese sauce. You know what to do this. So this is a little parmesan. Cheese and green air mixed with a little cream, a little salt, little pepper dash of hot sauce and was to share their all and then you can make your yorkie or you can go with the store, bought to save time to judge you for it. Survive. Um, no, I can not to comment at this time for the question. So but right, Thanksgiving panicked. Okay. Everybody stop talking. So

yeah, I lost everyone. Good. So you could be looking for a few minutes and then literally take him out of the water and you drop them in this cheese sauce once cups. Yeah. >> And then we add more cheese or your horn. I’m a bad person. You know, you’re a good person, a hug and a container. >> And we mix all this together and you can literally just let this sit on the stove. Yes, more cheese braces off. You can literally, by the way, 7 like this for mold it into a dish. Lake Tahoe, little

bread, condo family style. Yeah. And make it 3.50 for about 20 minutes or until that gets nice and golden brown and I mean, you can take the turkey out. Yep. You’re doing stuff like that or just want this to school sick. >> Oh, my gosh. This goal of an I love it. Yeah. I just used airing at 9, 0, well. Do we have to take on a banana pudding. Looks unbelievable. Crash. >> Yes. So classic vanilla cookies all in the bottom. Right? Plastic wrap cookies. This is so fun you can do. Ginger snaps. By the

way. If you like that better, you could do chocolate cookies. You look at you. You as more eyes there. Yeah. This is caramel with cream whipped cream with caramel sauce mixed into it. So you do layer of that and then you layer the bananas just gently on top so that every bite has a little bit of cookie on the list. We’re going to need some steam. Brussels sprouts offset my gosh. I buy you know me. You can make all this right now for Thanksgiving and be on the money because you can put this in the

freezer. Yeah. But this in the freezer. Yeah. Well enough. We had thrown in the fridge, even pa and then this. You literally just keep layering, sugar, bananas and cream over and over. You fold this up. You put it to bed in the French close. I love something that’s there and ready this and then unwrap. Helen molds. I was just standing in the with someone like you. I’m guessing not well and that overall of listen, chefs, we need eaters. Okay with that. We are 8 years to survive. I can say we don’t need around here and

will come also also the yes. And then we have just a drizzle of caramel on top of that to finish. You could even put some in their before you and mold it. So there’s like a little bit of like a you know what I mean? Yeah. And so and I find this comfort food we just we needed that we need to do right now is at home working working right now, getting stuff together. I honestly I just got off the phone with her. She’s making pie dough. She making pie filling. She’s getting ready, getting the

stuffing ready, Israeli. I’m really scared. She’s going to be a chef and we have a feeling. >> I wonder why that would have announced. Thank you. Thank you. Happy Thanksgiving to all cooked up. not worth. You know, it really is a joint. We’re glad you’re here. Yeah, I’m OK. So Chris Pine isn’t this new movie that I want to say? They thought that, Chris, there’s some very short

shorts. What about what you have to say about them? And he said, yes, yes. >> There’s anything to defend short isn’t corduroy shorts short short minutes. So the vibe is the best 5 0nd, Tom Selleck, right? 70’s survive. >> Okay. So what he did? >> Did his right little tiny shorts. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with the short, short know, ever sometimes it’s too short on them and to start, you know, because the great they’re great guys can be a little whiter and it’s it’s strange board short. Yeah, I like aboard. Sure. Yeah. That

lake that linked to many aboard shortest time. Yeah. I do like that. Yes. Okay. So we talk about you and the Thanksgiving Day parade tomorrow, please. Yeah. You’re hosting it. By the way. Yeah. The parade’s going to be great. It’s starting a half hour early. So you know how for the last 97 years you’ve been turned in at 9 o’clock. >> Well, now it’s going to be a threat wise. Why didn’t you tell me that? I know why more parade cut for parade. So it’s trying to sometimes it’s rushed. It feels like you’re like, oh,

God. Next, the IX center, we want to see the Raiders March want to see close up. So it’s going to be a little slower. >> We’re going to have an extra 30 minutes. It’s going to be great. And every year I do a signal for my kids so that they know that, you know, mom, a smile that is looking at that. Okay. So what do you normally do for your kids? Well, Haley really hoping that you do blow a cast like that. But Haley, what is she normally gun? I pull the air, OK? So I

do want to say, yes, I’d like to signal because I won’t be with you. I know that you may be close. I won’t be there tomorrow. What I’d like a signal hope to have an idea for signal that your mom can do for me. Anybody have an idea the thinking, okay? Well, we what I usually do for gender and she does for me to is on the air off a new one, though, if you want to be honest before we go on, usually there’s lipstick right here. So what about this move? Very casually? Look a

bit like when he worked. How about it? >> I told her that might be too dramatic fight, but I’m into it. So what you really do that? >> If you double dog dare me, although I triple dog, dare you. >> Look for it. You’re going to literally do this real quick. Take one 0nd. How it’s going to look just so I know what I’m looking for. >> You have to look like a little squirrel was otherwise. It loses the effect. Yes, I’m okay. Just say we have a new episode out. My gosh. The edible ISO

to making space Dallas about this, right. Erin Andrews, who is a sportscaster you guys know her from. That has an incredible backstory that I didn’t know a thing about. She’s been through some really, really difficult times and how she navigated that while she was on the air while she was trying to have a baby, like all these things are happening all at once. And I think there are some real tools and her. So we’re dropping the Erin Andrews podcast. Lot of buzz about it already because she really has some really revealing things to say. We

have any clue that we have a clip now. Know it’s. >> What you guys look at that QR code. Get put out its make some Space podcast. Incredible. Thank you. Red Raiders led the Red Raiders Oir guys coming up, this is special. all about since the holidays are here. My family is going to help out. So they’re going to bring out some kind of food and we’re going to find out of that. Yet. You’re gonna we’re gonna start with Haley. Hi Haley. Haley is bringing out. It looks delicious what it looks like ice career here. While we taste it was cold in your hand, OK? Let’s see. What do you think that? Yeah, yeah. I’m a little nervous. Scared by the color of it, too. >> No, thank you. I like it. >> I think it’s the what is

it made me too. I said no at first but that one tribe. I’m going back for round 2. I think it like that. No. Not judge Yough or yeah. Yeah. Cause that’s I’m you know what you think? That was Turkey day fixin’s ice cream. So they add in the ice cream sweet potato. Adam spiced, honey, cornbread pieces. >> And cranberry. So I really thank you. Person coming out is the one the only o run come. >> You can walk out o come all the way. I like your fly sticker. I it is so awesome. What

does this look like? We put these up here. Let’s bunch. It’s a Hokie. You’re so good at delivering things. So we just received let’s say seas are ball soup and Phillip, Ashley chocolates, these are called holiday sides truffles. So they’re supposed to taste like a thanksgiving sides. And mine is green. Mind is going to be yet. Mike Green bean casserole mine is stuffing telling you about. Yeah. Haha. While lock OK and now last but not least my nieces. Let’s see what we have here. I’ve got. >> They I don’t take it. You don’t like that. Taste green be. I don’t. What made it clear she doesn’t want to try things that are. Yeah, it takes like cucumber water. Haha. Thank you. Can go ahead and have a strange after taste touch it. Taste like Yahoo. Let’s say good luck, girl. Have fun. Yeah. Okay. We have fun. Thank you for playing. Yeah. Or

our Yahoo. Take the paddle and what your point your mom makes Hussein think that’s what do you think we should do catch up with that. Haha. I love the sibling duo around here. Which is why we’re so excited that are funny. Friend Seth Meyers brought his brother Josh. >> Within this morning who work day? >> What? We don’t look like brothers Ahmed. I called really yeah. They’re okay. The pair has a podcast. You should listen to it. It’s called family trips with the Myers Brothers where they interviewed their famous friends about their most memorable family

vacation idea. Was it to start the podcast? We want to do something together. Am. >> He had had the idea and then I feel like the strike sort of hit and he was like, well, this is a good time as any to start it. Yeah, yeah. We’ve got right to know who’s speaking on the podcast was out. Exactly. Yeah. It’s a very bad idea. Whit who sounds identical to you? >> But we’re making it work. Yeah, I say hi. This is. >> No. I think eventually people will learn that our kids are tough. Yeah, are

just our attitudes are are different about certain things that Josh is mean has a mean thing. It’s said that. Yeah. Someone wants to talk more about family trip since May and wants to talk about all that’s analyst >> I’m okay. We know you are as Josh and staff but you actually have different names that you use that. >> Tether. Yeah. I’m Sufi had on PA she. Yeah. Haha. She. Yeah. That’s how we know. It’s like a code in your family. Those names that you may have they come to the posh is very easy pass. He

was sort of Josh Apache, which is very just comes naturally. And yeah, as you as you become an adult, you drop the Josh. Yeah. Help the way to all the work. Sylvie is a lot of different things happened. But the short answer is my mom has terrible timing, chip and she sent a postcard to me at college and they’re reading out the mail, a Somerset who Sufi I was like, oh, that’s that’s just bad. My whatever. Sufi. And it’s time that was that it is beautiful handwriting. I should say that it is very low. >>

It is. Hey, you’re going to do me like that. Say it’s great to could be forgiven if fraternity brother couldn’t really never turned. That may be a problem solver. >> Older taller. Haha evolution. So I guess that’s a lose lose for you. So was the favorite. Josh is the favorite. Yeah. I’m trying to give them a hug backstage. But he said that he had already been put into wardrobe high. Probably get my mother a nice big. Yeah. Look, I have worked with people. >> That’s my family. Would you rather have Dunham and you were on

my. >> All right. Let’s talk about some of these family trips. Yeah. So what are you guys were just out for your family that I think one of the we are the whole premise of this is the family trips to go wrong. Other ones we talk about that your whole life after and they’re the ones that sort of grow and bring their family closer. So for us, the most traumatic one was we’re Busch Gardens and basically a tornado slash thunderstorms last hurricane that and we all sort of ran to the transit, bring it back to

the parking lot. And we all loaded on. And then after that, Rahm last only after did we realize that Josh was still standing at the gates waiver wire realized. >> Also, huge hold for you. I want to say it was like >> 8 and then you were 8 and then your 9. By the time we thought what? Yeah, I mean, teeming rain and that day just like her as a way to thinking during that time. I don’t know. I mean, Sophie’s choice. Haha, I will tell you this. That is I would rather than standing in

the teeming rain alone, then being with my mother and father, they turn on each other. When you step in and talk about how great your parents are. They came back from here afternoon, a blanket. I remember my mom wrote a letter about like help us find our son but nobody could read it. Haha. Yeah. >> There seems to be because we heard there was another story about you leaving school. >> Jahi of what we refuse to give you a dollar to tell your side of the story, OK? >> Well, I was in first grade. I

want to say something like that to a first grader whose 3rd grade and I asset for lunch money. But he was in the middle of a conversation. I was the middle of a story. He was in the middle of a story. So great. So I’m sure it was a bang or a guess. Yeah. And so he didn’t. He didn’t give me the time of day. So I walked home. Gives me I’d I said, give me a second. That was the time I asked what you know, how first graders are when they get hungry? They get

hungry. Yeah. So I was cranky because I was on great. I was that young man that I I walked home which we use to walk to. And from school. I walked home, >> made myself a sandwich, turn on the TV. What was on it was that for the last quarter last Gordon. Oh, wow. And so when it it came time to go back to school that I would stand to flash Gordon that seem more important for my education. That mom Estrella. Tell you what’s happening in school right now. Kyle’s gonna miss Ahmed missing. And they’re

asking me when is the last I saw? I’m in an an NBA has like, well, I told him to wait a second money for food. >> How are you feeling like? Yeah, you really let your brother die at that moment. Know, I felt I really actually stood up my door made. I got mad at me. I stood up and I said I feel as though some blame should be placed on Josh. Haha, one who say, you know, broke every rule in the book, you have a great Thanksgiving tradition, which is you invite your entire family.

Yes on your show. Yes. So, yeah. Tomorrow night’s show the guests will be my brother and my parents. And there she is. We showed video every year we’ve got yes. Funniest of your crew. How man? What do you think? I mean, we’re the favorite. Yeah. >> Our father started. I feel like it all stems from our father, but he probably has batting average might not be as high as our mothers. Yeah, he doesn’t say as much but I feel like her hit rate is back to that. So that was I was going to say me.

Haha. >> Don’t go into our guys SF and just going to put us to the test. They got a game. It’s called fact or fake coming up right after this. >> He told his story. We’ve got 7, his brother, Josh and we just want to shout out. Your mom and dad are here. >> The mom and dad are right here. Yeah. Watch. Haha. >> The are they said no. They know it the no. Because the brother said the I what we’re happy to. >> That’s who the favorite son is. They’re not. That’s pretty clear. All

right. All right. So we want to learn a little bit more about you were going to play a game called fact or faked. One brother’s may tell us the story about the other brother and will have to decide if it’s real or if it’s made up. >> Okay, Seth. All right. Here we go. Story one and high school. >> And high school Josh insisted on getting up her treatment. Call the vote to which he believes is the secret of his good hair to this very day. And I think you did get a permit. You’re correct.

He got up, did not get up. I got of of and all the bounce. All the body without a permit. I believe the SSA allied. Yeah. No hair cutters in Merrimack, New Hampshire and you have to put in the pink little curlers. I don’t recall. Okay. It was a long process or by the way, your hair it is like yeah. You hear that mean this in his >> Haha. Okay, Josh. You’re next, Tom. >> Seth likes Chicken wing so much that once and a bar. He was caught 9 on some half-eaten chicken wings didn’t belong

to anyone. We know I might have been there from the night before. >> True. That’s true. I know what you know. Yeah, that’s true. I mean, more detail about what you heard it all. How old were you when that happened? Late 20’s. >> When we’re playing pinball and someone was like who’s chicken wings? And that is like, I don’t know. And then we sort of asked around and it was nobody hates. They were they were my bones. >> I said, yes, Josh got Josh got fired from a restaurant because he called in sick and then

showed up on TV at a basketball game. >> I don’t think that’s true and I do it. >> That’s true. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Look to the left a little. Yeah. All were you when that happened? I was a high school as a junior in high school. My our high school basketball teams in the state championship. I really want to go. How did you get fired? If they did? I went into work the next day. I would like you weren’t sick. You are we saw you on TV because the game it was like one of those

high school games that was televised because it was a big deal. That was that I was like, OK, and that’s what I tell you. 5 haha. I wasn’t married to be in a bus for Shorty’s Mexican Roadhouse. So I’m okay. Hans, back when I stopped mentioning a lot of local businesses, I know I want to get the freebird next time I go back and Josh, your turn, you wait for the music with to get these children’s books that came with accompanying 35 records set. Got The Hobbit. But he was too afraid of it. So I

had to trade with him. >> 35 a kind of like a small record. >> True. Yeah. Yeah. I remember those record. Yeah. You are scared very of the that there’s a visit. You know, Gollum is pretty scary. Also, it’s a the animation was pretty scary. And I don’t feel like I need to explain. I trained him with was Lambert. The sheepish lie and that which is which is a pro he was at the I can do. This is by the way, the day before the checking stories later. Haha. This podcast family trips with the Myers

Brothers, wherever you Get your podcast, new episodes drop every Tuesday, guys. Thank thank you. >> He’s remember to watch Late Night with Seth Meyers week nights on NBC in the next streaming on Peacock. And the whole Myers family is going to be there tomorrow for their annual Thanksgiving episode. Forward to that. Thanks, guy at what’s going to >> happened. Coming up, our couple story of childhood friendship, resilience and how that’s next. This year, we’re celebrating 20 years of our thanks and giving series where >> we highlight the remarkable work being done at Saint Jude Children’s

Research Hospital. And this year we’re sharing the story of 2 families who found hope and one another at Saint Jude, Take a look. >> Imani and Everly are like most four-year-old house. They enjoy dressing up and playing together. But in their young lives, both girls have already defied the odds and created an extraordinary bond which began shortly after they were born. >> The 2 girls just love each other so much. We love watching them grow together. >> Or tab. Dean and Sarra Syed welcome daughter Emani into the world in November of 2019. >> It’s like

a light switch. That kind of goes off the moment your child is more now. You realize that this life is no longer just about you. >> For the new parents who are also physicians, their joy turned to deep concern 5 short weeks later. >> From day one, she wasn’t gaining weight very well. She would look down and it was like I would get stopped. And can we just bring her in for a scan as the image is kind of populating on on the computer screen. >> I saw this huge tumor kind of show up on

the screen. Next thing, you know, she’s having emergency surgery. >> We met with the ecologist there and she said we can try came out. But it it’s very unlikely that it’s going to work. I would I would take her home and just enjoy what time you have with her. In the meantime, we were just sending out her chart to every place you could think of. >> We brought her home on hospice where she continued to deteriorate at home and then we brought her burial plot. >> Then they heard from a doctor at Saint Jude Children’s

Research Hospital. We’re huge or daughters chart. We just got the pathology. This is not a hospice case. We think we can help. It felt like God was speaking through me through that phone call. They packed their bags and immediately flew from New York to Saint Jude in Memphis. >> After several rounds of chemo Emani underwent another surgery to remove the remainder of the high grade Glioma. Our daughter began to thrive. >> Getting chemo. She was gaining weight. She was meeting milestones as soon as he started the surgery. He was able to remove the whole thing.

I think for the first time that was when we said we have a future with our child. meanwhile in Austin, Texas, Garrett and Kelsey Ose R We’re facing a similar battle with their newborn daughter. Everly Everly had a major brain surgery when she was 3 days old. She had >> a very aggressive in rare cancer. The first time caller just told us that we would unlikely make it to her. >> First birthday, my phone rings and it’s doctor jar at Saint Jude Children’s Hospital. And he asked us what is everybody said to you. And so

we told them and he said, don’t let us know where they’re saying come to Memphis and and we’re going to save your daughter. >> Like Emani ever really went through 6 months of intensive chemotherapy. We were >> in the hospital going through chemotherapy one moment. And I feel like the next moment she was having full conversations with us and hitting every milestone. These children not only just surviving but thriving and growing and it was a chance encounter by 2 dads fighting for their daughters that would lead to a much-needed friendship. We were leaving a physical

therapy session and I saw another dad and we found out that our daughters are just a few months apart. >> They had the exact same type of rare cancer. We were able to see another family who’s kind of going through the exact same thing you are and their kids don’t get that. >> Part of our family now where our daughters are best friends. We have coordinated so that we go back for all of our follow-ups together to celebrate these to rack us kids. >> Imani and Everly are now thriving. Face timing weekly and meeting up

for family vacations. So we had a few surprises in store for these BFF. Starting with a reunion at American Girl Place in New York City. >> And thanks to American girl and money. Never really got to pick out their own dolls and accessories. >> I think if you would have told us 3 and a half years ago that we’d be sitting here at the area, we’re all store them having dolls. That would’ve been the biggest thing in life that I could have ever been given. >> I mean, this is unbelievable. It’s the second best thing

that came out of Saint Jude. His testing is 17. Okay. But it the second best thing is having a daughter Hadley. >> I mean, my gosh. Here with us now is Marlo Thomas, the national outreach director for Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Marlo, her is a story of hope. It stopped when both of these families were told there’s nothing you can do, right. And then they got a call from Saint Jude and their lives have been compelled. Thank God their doctors should. We don’t know what to do. So let’s end the Saint Jude, because we’re

always doing research and trials. >> And we had minimize treatment. These kids had surgery and chemo and no radiation. Now, that’s just amazing. Everybody radiates with brain tumors. So that’s pretty exciting. And that will save them in the years to come. I think in addition to saving the children, you’re saving the family, something about walking through the doors of Saint Jude. Yes, where you exhale. I’ve been there. Jen has been there. There’s something there. What are you doing for the families? Well, Lou, as you know, we do all kinds of parties with the family and

and cycle analysis for the families. But mostly what we’re doing, the families is is these treatments? Yes, and this research and the trials and what’s exciting and I know you’ll find it exciting, too, is that you don’t have to come to Saint Jude to experience. These breakthrough was sure that all over the world, so families all over the world are able to get these kinds of treatments and omit the radiation. That’s the most important thing I think because we do trial after trial after trial and chill, we find out how do we cure this disease

that nobody else does look to do it. That’s the exciting part. That’s what we do. That’s what we do for the families. And that’s what we do for the world. Really said. I love to watch you mothership to cry at how. Oh, by the way, we sure this is a special day in your house. Yes. What is what is today today? What will let you make? Feels birthdays itself. Bird that day. >> Filter 88 this week. Surprise for, you know, where is why supply what it will come away. We hearing what they did drink. Yell

This is the data you. >> Isn’t that good had on a hill? Yeah. If a light or a display at Tahoe Smart there

work is exceptionally thank you. Thank you. Do you deserve to cut? Yeah. Our thanks. And giving series continues tomorrow. >> In the earlier hours with a full circle moment when a former patient returns to Saint Jude. >> But this time as a doctor. Awesome. Thank you. Thank you, Marla. Coming up, country music star Jesse James Decker. We’re going to chat with her about her new album. Mother had been a big advance for Thanksgiving right after that. Good. That’s real. About a season is here with us and a sleigh ride. That’s also the Jessie James Decker’s.

New holiday out. It’s called Decker. The haha songwriter authored entrepreneur. I’ve been keeping busy. She’s got some huge plans for tomorrow when you’re performing in the Macy’s Day Thanksgiving. >> I was so excited. This is like a bucket list for me to tell us about that because >> it’s you. Yes. Share yet like a few other people that it was this like a big deal. Yeah, but your family, I did what you know what? This is such an this is something I’ve wanted to do my whole careers. I mean, this is just one of those

bucket list moment as an artist. So when I got the car screaming and then of course, I’m like I have to bring the kids in. Eric, we’ve got to just be like a big family saying, you know, making a big week. >> The way, Chris at Thanksgiving in New York City is the most I’ve ever been here for having a great shot of the Rockettes. That’s another that. >> Hi, Derrick and the kids. Yeah. They’re here with that. At the end, Eric Junior and for it. That’s right. I am. >> They’re they’re about to have

another sibling. Pretty easy, though. I know you feel and I feel great. Yes, yeah. Ready for a force. Oh, yeah, we’re already. We’re just I mean, I’m counting. I’m so excited. We’ve I mean, this is just all we can talk about it because it was not. It was such a pleasant surprise. Yeah, that we’re all just like keep pinching ourselves that this is happening with the adding another. One of the gang was also delighted by at OKC. You posted a picture. Light show at a cake is made for you and your sisters are sister-in-law’s sister

and sister-in-law, sister and sister-in-law all in matching that to 2 little boys in matching outfit and a 3rd matching up that. Does that mean you’re having a boy? I’m having a boy. >> Oh, yeah. Having another. The remains cool. Yeah. Place to be. Yeah. >> She’s like way. Everybody knew that. I know. I have to talk about this album. Yeah, because you’ve got some great songs. I’d like to listen to a little bit our way. All right. I think we’ve got one cued up. Let’s take a listen to this one. Tell us about that song.

So today on 10 saw was a song that I wrote with Shane Stevens, Dan AJ, Good Friends of Mine in Nashville. I just wanted to write an original Christmas for this record that felt classic. But just something new and this will be the one I’m going to be doing during the parade. >> Her rates on the Rich. You know, Christmas song is amazing. But yet also recorded my favorite album is I saw Mommy kissing. Yeah, not just you. >> There’s the kids say. This is the cutest thing ever long on that. You know. >> I

everyone knows I’m such a family girl. That’s just I like to bring everyone along for the ride. It’s just morning. Happy and Moises. They should do. Let’s talk about your Thanksgiving meal because in New York Times it’s like. >> Where are we going to do it? How to do it? What’s your traditional Thanksgiving dinner like and what are you going to do here in New York? So obviously that we would typically do at home before we came out here, we did a big Thanksgiving dinner. That’s the photo you saw me and my sisters, everyone together.

We just kind of all brought addition was so great. But we’ll be doing it here obviously. And I found a great little Scott. Yeah, I need a traditional Thanksgiving. I at Turkey this stuff. Yeah. Raining casserole sweet potato. Casserole mashed potato with your favorite titles at Yahoo. Speak to the cast for all. I just cannot live without it. I honestly have perfected it. I mean different marshmallows on top of malice because lots of brown sugar. Lots of butter. We should put yours on our website. Yeah. I’m not just saying this. It’s the Baha. All right.

We make sure you catch just take your forms. And tomorrow’s Thanksgiving Day parade, at least a deck or the hall where you get your news at so much time. Thank you. Thank you. We’ll be back right after this. >> As for sure. Yeah, she will be back Friday. We’re catching up with fashion icon Jenna Lyons. But first it’s Thanksgiving tomorrow. You don’t forget the poor. I will see you bright and early. Their Thanksgiving parade starts at 8.30 for what you’re doing. >> So today, every day we are adding to the star power in our studio.

The biggest days only today. >> How do you feel at this age? The state liberated. Just start. Folks will stay with us. He’s been fantastic. Everything in every what you’re talking about. Welcome to stay. So happy to see you guys. Would you like by boost a sagging? We go. Well, sometimes we just 2 things >> Welcome to Balloon Fest 2023, I’m Angie Lassman. I’m here at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey to get a sneak peak of one of the most iconic events of the holiday season and Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. This is a 97 year.

The rate at Ridgeway launched as a Christmas parade in 1924. Before being renamed it Thanksgiving Parade just 3 years later. The event has been televised by NBC for over 60 years. And today it draws more than 50 million spectators. Everyone marveling at the world famous balloons fly through New York City with the greatest. >> Every year the Macy’s team Tuesday’s new pipeline characters and this year is no exception. 7 edition. So join me as we watch for the brand new balloons. Snoopy. It feels very doughboy Leal the lizard and from Kung Fu Panda in place

for the very first time. When we come back, a beloved symbol of the season gets a makeover for this year’s. For a stay with us. is synonymous with the holiday season and then ISIS Thanksgiving Day parade. He first joined the parade in 1968 and has received a number of reinventions over the years. No Thanksgiving Day would be complete without the beloved pop. Up is up to this yet. We’ll be right back with more right after the break. Thanksgiving Day parade balloons. Take flight for the first time. Another icon of the holiday season is ready to

fill your hearts and your homes with joy right after this. Doughboy rises for the first time this season. Coming up, the balloons are taking shape. Stay with us. Macy’s with us on air. And a lot goes into making this event before the big event happened. Tell us what your party is and all that. So I’m a manager on the production operations team from a C studios. So I oversee part of the balloon program and really getting everything started for a day. Uptown stepping off the parade, getting everything ready, getting all participants ready to go down

there out. And what’s what’s going to happen here today? So today, Apple investors where we fire over new balance for the first time in an open air environment. We’re really excited to see how they go. Making sure they’re fully parade ready. And you been with the team. How long? How many years have you been a part of that? This is my 5th year on the team. Really excited. But my very first year at me, see those actually a cloud in the parade and way back when I was actually a dancer when I was in high

school with Spirit of America. And what’s that like walking the parade route? I know so many people lined the streets are so excited for this event. But what’s it like to actually be walking down those streets with all of these amazing balloons and and everything else? The energy is like no other and now have such a different experience being up there. 7 off when the confetti goes going down the route. Very exciting. People are cheering, everyone saying Happy Thanksgiving and that’s just an electric energy. I couldn’t get enough of and us prepare all year long.

What was it like preparing this year? This year? We always find an expert about 18 months out. So we’re always looking at what we can do better. What we can get ready, what we can make more efficient for the next year. So a lot of hours. Long hours. Hard work. I’m just gonna time making this parade happen. You’ve been involved with this parade since your child. What’s it like from then to now? How does that feel? It really is a tradition for me. It feels like family. It feels at home. I can’t imagine spending my

Thanksgiving any other way. >> When we come back, a lovable last pet makes his big parade. Dave, you stay with us. >> Welcome back here at Lou FACT, every year the Macy’s team worked tirelessly to find new balloons that will excite parade fans. And this year the the Lizard is doing just that. And Adam Sandler is heading to Netflix as the school class at his new movie. First we get a sneak peek of the larger than life. Was that ourselves? >> Stay right here on today. All day for the view of the newest Macy’s Thanksgiving

Day parade balloons. the balloons to get up in the air. We have Kathleen with Macy’s and it’s my understanding that you are the expert of all things when it comes to actually getting the balloons up in the air. Talk to me about some of the things that go into it and your role with the with the rain. >> So the parade is a lot of moving parts. I can’t take credit for solely hitting the ball ends up in the air. But there’s a lot of things that my team does to really help this entire process

get to the finish line. So we work really closely with our production teams on making sure that all of our full INS are ready to go on for a morning. We’re also responsible for the training of the hundreds of volunteers that are here with us today, training all year round, making sure they know exactly what to expect on Thanksgiving morning and then we get here to balloon Fest. We test fly them, make sure their parade reading. And then Thanksgiving week we bring them into New York City at the ready to fly on Thanksgiving. And I’m

a meteorologist. So weather is, of course, near and dear to my heart. But it makes a difference on the parade day. Tell me how you guys analyzing what goes into deciding if the balloons can fly. >> So as part of our design process from the very beginning, we’re looking at the ball lands and how they’ll react in different when the fish. So once we have them all designed and ready to go, we start really doing it very detailed analysis of these balloons and seeing how they react in a computer model in different wind conditions. And

then on Thanksgiving morning, we provide our balloon pilots as well as our balloon sergeants from with the team with the flight Matrix that tells them how high the balloons fly in the different wind conditions having that experience on great morning. So they know if the winds pick up on create morning to lower the balloon down as the winds die down and we can raise the balloon up a little bit higher. They know they can do that as well. So we make sure that everyone on the route is prepared to respond. Should the winds change? >>

I love the signs of such a big part of it. That’s amazing. It’s it’s so similar to what we do on our end to forecast the weather had every day. >> Tell me about some of these. Some of these balloons are the recurring every year. What goes into the kind of wear and tear and being able to weather the elements for for them to make those appearences each and every year. >> So we can say, you know, each balloon is designed to fly X number grades, but all of our balloons are weatherproof so that they

can withstand wind rain. Snow, hopefully not. But they’ve really do. They’re able to withstand a lot of different elements. We do do touch ups with paint and things like that throughout the year and sometimes even on Wednesday night into Thanksgiving morning just to make sure that they look perfect for entry. >> So tell me a little bit about what happens if if the weather doesn’t. Has there been any year that you think, oh, no, we’re not going to be able to get this under way. >> So the weather has luckily cooperated for us for many,

many years, fighting across a day like today would be perfect in a few weeks. Call that in. But the weather really we are able to find a lot of different wind conditions. So we’re able to fly in sustained winds of 23 miles per hour and gusts up to 34 miles per hour. So that’s all part of that engineering analysis that we do for the bill is leading up to the parade. So we’re ready for those wind conditions. We work very closely with our partners in the NYPD. We’re monitoring the weather on Friday morning so that

he can make a decision. When you mention the volunteers, you’re you’re a big part of getting them up to speed. How many volunteers are going to be walking in the parade and what goes into getting them ready to stroll down the streets. So there are and the total 3, there’s over 8,000 marchers and volunteers to 1000 of which are part of the balloon program. So there’s 90 balloon handlers that are on each large balloon. >> So many people is such a great team effort. And it’s a fact that they’re all volunteers, I think, is just

so beautiful and part of the holiday spirit that is so wonderful that we can bring to New York City on Thanksgiving morning. >> These balloons are going to sell to the streets. But what goes into getting the actual New York City streets ready for them to make their way? >> So the parade route is 2.5 miles. And when you think of New York City and that stretch, well, the parade route, think of how many traffic lights are on that route. So we turn every single traffic light on the parade route in the overnight hours into

great morning to make sure that they’re not obstructing the parade route to traffic lights, the lamp post to make sure that they’re turned out of the way so that all of our balloons have a safe and unobstructed flight envelope that they can fly through on Friday morning. I can’t wait. What are you most excited for them and most excited for step off on frid morning. I think it’s excitement of town is just >> on match when we start the parade, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, Let’s have a parade. Confetti pops and that’s a feeling. >>

We’ll be right back with more right after the break. behind the scenes. Look at the preparations for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. The 4th installment of the Kung Fu Panda film series produced by our parent company. NBC Universal was making a comeback this year and he’s taking a break into high gear. Let’s watch. As he finds his footing for the holidays. >> It’s almost time to apply. Stay with us. who is the executive producer of the parade? Well, so much goes into this, but tell us about your role in getting this to the streets in

New York. >> Sure. Yeah. As executive producer at the great privilege of leading the team are variety of teams from concept, an idea all the way through execution. >> In tell me what goes into into all of this. You mention from conception to actually making it happen. What was that process like? >> The process for building balloons is quite extensive. We start with the variety of just hand sketches or artist back it studio. We’ll have a couple concepts starts custom out what we have an opportunity to serve you. The sketches look feel like what were

gravitating towards you. Then take it into our engineering phase will start to model it out and understand how it’s going to react within a certain wind conditions start to understand the aerodynamics, if you have to make any tweaks and then we get into production phase. So the white model goes into its training program that then gets flattened out. How? Yeah, it’s pretty. It’s it’s it’s yeah, it’s flattened out and then cut. So every one of these balloons has a variety of of piece of fabric that heat seal together. No, no piece of fabric is large.

The 42 inches wide. Wow. So I was very bad when you’re looking at a massive yes. When you think about it, the team will take a 3 D model. We start to map out all the areas and all the pieces, all the scenes, all the structure and all the internal structure. For instance, if you look at Joe Boyes hot, all of those ribs bond on the hat have internal lines that are pulling it to create the ship. So it’s not only >> on the exterior, but there’s a ton of interior work as well. Artists, scientists,

engineers, you’ve got it all was working on this and making it happen. Sounds like a lot goes into it. Definitely a lot goes into it, creating these characters. So when there’s a new one, how do you decide who it’s going to be? Who gets to be crowned with that new kind of love? >> I was getting to attend and be in the frame. You catch it. Our goal. And you know, historically, if you look back through history, the goals have recognized the car. Yes, the charges that are, you know, at a moment’s notice at a

moment’s plants are going to just look out. You’re going to see, you know, smile is going to be a little surprised a little bit. It’s a life that’s first and foremost. And then, you know, we go into that sort of diversity of characters. As with everything in our parade, we want to make sure everyone has a little something a little nugget to take away from. So from our iconic doughboy character, something new likely and rumpled. And we know the variety and 7 o’clock to nature of of our selections. This is it’s part Mountain early decision

making process. But who’s your favorite character? It’s like asking a children’s. I can say that. I have a favorite. I am excited about the Eagle Scout. Snoopy this year celebrating its 50th anniversary for for, you know, the organization still. He’s been an iconic character in our in our parade for decades. It’s nice to be able to be a part of bringing that tend to version of the balloon to see the parade to the streets of New York City. >> What should fans be most excited? The spectators? What should they look forward to in get geared

up for on Thanksgiving morning. >> This year we have even more so for the first time in our history, we’re extending the great but there. And this is so as you know, and as one those great takes place in New York City. But we tend in previous years we’ve celebrated the uptown the step off that celebration. And we’ve got down to 34 Street. It’s a parade through the streets of New York City. It’s a parade that celebrates all the amazing. You know, I created energy and excitement of the city. So really looking to spend a

little bit more time celebrating that celebrating people, New York City and celebrating visuals backdrops. So we’re going to have a bit more time on the broadcast to to showcase our parade. The parade route in addition, told performances we’ve got John, but he just to get us off of town. Righty of all regulations, Belton to go and go and hide in K-pop sensations to want to share shares going to close this out and she’ll be leading the one and only Mason center. >> And for our final segment. So it’s going to be a really exciting show

name a more iconic duo share and Santa. I don’t think there is one in its my understanding that you grew up in and the props. So what was it like watching the parade as a child? And and how did that inspire you to to the role of the year to date? >> I was drawn to the spectacle and to be just the grand juror of the parade and the people that are jurors, the floats, the performances. I’ve always wanted to make things a parade. And Thanksgiving is always been that moment for me and my family.

We have a moment together whether it be on the streets of the city or in our in our homes, back in the Bronx. And that’s one of those really beautiful things about this bridge, whether your friends, family strangers for a couple of hours on Thanksgiving morning, we’re all together. And this this parade is the thing that brings us all together. Pace that moment for us to just, you know, put everything else aside and share one collective experience and be inspired. We’re delighted to share a little bit of love and celebration is nothing like the Macy’s

Thanksgiving Day Parade. >> Stay right here to see the newest Thanksgiving Day parade balloons flying for the first time.
