California election results: Nathan Hochman confident he can unseat Gascón

track to run against Gascon in the fall. Gina, you’re live in Brentwood still early though it is still very early. This is the viewing party, but it’s starting to wrap up. Everybody was so excited when the numbers started coming in. Joining me live, of course, is Nathan Hochman. You are the one who raised the most money. You outspent everyone and those commercials. I’m sure all television. Clearly, it’s paid off. Well, again, I think the polling, our polling results have confirmed the trends so far tonight that we’re going to end up in the top two. But

the polling results also show that in a head to head matchup with Gascon, I will unify the 75% of people who did not vote for George Gascon tonight, who are Democrats, independents and Republicans. I will unify them in opposition. So come November fifth, George Gascon will be voted out of office and I will become the next district attorney. I interviewed all of the challengers earlier today. Of course, they disagree with you and they’re saying if it is between you and Gascon in November, a Republican cannot beat a Democrat in very deep blue California. What do

you say to that? So what I say is that I was a centrist Democrat for 20 years. I was a centrist Republican for 20 years, and now I’m

an independent in this Nonparty race. And we actually want a district attorney to be independent, to take politics out of the DA’s office, because George Gascon has decided to use his political ideology instead of relying on the facts and the evidence to decide who should go to jail and who shouldn’t. I would actually take politics out of the office. And what I’ve found is that that is a

message that unifies Democrats, independents and Republicans. Two thirds of whom feel less safe today than they did when George Gascon first came into office. All right. So obviously it is still very early. You are coming in at second at this time. Things could change, but if you are elected, what will you do on the very first day you take office? On the very first Gascon Pro-criminal blanket policies. For instance, the ones that have allowed people who steal under $950 to get off scot free, the ones that don’t back victim families who are facing their murderers

at parole hearings, the ones that have thrown out enhancements for guns for gangs, for three strikes. I will reverse those policies, but I’m not going to go back to policies of mass incarceration. Those two extremes have not worked. I end up in the hard middle. And the reason it’s hard is you need to look at each individual case. The defendant, the crime committed and the impact on the victim to determine who the true threats are to our society and have to be behind bars and quite candidly, the ones that aren’t the first time nonviolent offender

can pay their debt to society by community service. But they have to pay a debt to society. All right. Well, thank you so much for speaking with us. This was a packed house earlier tonight. In fact, there was also no former governor Pete Wilson. It was a surprise to see him here tonight again, I’ve been supported by the key Republicans, key Democrats and key independents, and we’re going to bring that energy into November 5th, put George Gascon’s record on trial. And when the voters, the jurors render their verdict on November fifth, they will throw out

George Gascon and bring in a new district attorney, Nathan
