Chef Reviews ‘Smart’ Kitchen Gadgets

hello everyone today we have some smart techy kitchen gadgets for our Chef Ben and normal homecook Jamie to test you’ve suggested them we’re going to test them out boys lift the CL on number one wow it feels like um a recipe like a modern version of a recipe book holder it’s a tablet holder with built-in speakers this is the Bosch smart media dock now you can simplify your busy life with the smart kitchen dock you can control your smart home appliances and use the services of Amazon Alexa as well as further kitchen Services via the

one Central Hub following a recipe setting the timer checking the status of your smart appliances adding items to your shopping list many things in the kitchen that often happen at the same time it has built-in speaker for music access to recipe apps gesture control to enable handsfree use of your Smart Dock so you don’t get your iPad screen sticky Splash proof and Alexa enabled would you like to try it out okay if it’s still works I splashed it okay so boys we’ve downloaded the app and we’ve synced it all up so that you don’t have

to go through all of that it was relatively straightforward we talk a lot about because we have an app product Market fit so qu get you do you think that there is a

need for something like this in the kitchen from your personal experiences it’s very kitchen Centric as then it’s going to give you useful functions in the kitchen whereas I feel like the other devices Alexa Google all the other ones Google home they are designed probably more for other living spaces I feel yeah however those other devices also do this and therefore if you

already have one I’m not sure what value this adds beond stand but if you’re starting out then maybe this is a good place to go if you want in your kitchen should we try a recipe quick meals quick meals Sun wheat salad with asparagus and hazelnuts sounds delicious can it speak the instructions to me Alexa read the recipe I can search by dish name and ingredients no just the one on the screen you follow it along it tells you the ingredients and then you can swipe swipe swipe yay six Time Lucky what did you do

on that one I CED my hand around the bar now now go great Next Step perfect you need to cup it mix place the r I’ve done that oh no I went too quick I want to go back back no I went forward hang on back I would drive me mad but probably just no stop up down close Alexa play Heart London so we got the radio Alexa music up Alexa louder I’m frying Alexa stream Dua hey this is Dua listen to all my she’s in my kitchen she’s in there Alexa stop Alexa actually hates

me stop stop what you got tell which instruction to stop there we go simple as that swipe swipe yeah I’ve got the hang of the swipe now I get it I don’t know how often I would use it given I already have two devices that do that and they talk to each other even if they’re not sat on each other the really useful bit is the handsfree swipe do you want to take a guess at the price I I reckon it’s probably 100 quid 82 quid this is priced at £ 3722 that’s obviously a lot

cheaper than I thought it would be I think at that price level you’re not going to get the same sound quality that you’d get from another speaker but I think it’s a good starting level Alexa play Classic FM as loud as you can sounds pretty good I think that is adequate Alexa do a wet fart here comes a wet fart it’s so clear you’ve got kids Alexa what kind of fart does eers do Eevee does extra eggy farts like this eggy like a chef with a bit of a whistle on the end of it enough

farting now you can also switch off classic of FM thank you that was a triumphant one it was but goodbye now to fart five times in a row random so the Bosch smart media dock ask is it smart like a BOS or not the fart like a BOS now playing Mr F farting around the house stop farting it’s Mr is the smart dog full of hot air let us know comment now tell us your thoughts next one boys I wonder what it could be I want to have a guess before we even lift it yeah

what’s smart about this end of a pan temperature temperature temperature yes look at that Jean Patrick professional cookwar so yes this is the meat Master smart griddle pan this smart griddle pan by Jean Patrick makes it effortless to grill sear and Sizzle Meats to Perfection every time simply use the built-in thermometer to check the temperature of your meat so you know instantly that it’s safe to eat without having to overcook it this fast accurate probe measures exact precise readings time and again so you can cook with confidence it is literally just a storing place for

a thermometer for a thermometer now hold the ow sharp edges without that in it you can’t lift and probe oh can you not well you can I was being awkward but but it’s not comfortable this is cast aluminum and they claim that this ensures the frying pan Heats quickly and more evenly for better frying usually the bottom of the griddle is flat so you get even heat across it whereas this has got the middle bit what I imagine that middle bit is so that it works on induction if the claims about cast aluminium are correct

that shouldn’t impact it cuz it it should heat evenly and quickly I feel like every metal claims very similar should we try it let’s give it a go so you have some lovely skin on salmon eers well you dabbing it remember what we learned before if you even leave it open in the fridge for a couple of days it really dries out and goes crispier less nightly stick little bit of w it’s good sizzle the one in the middle one on the Ed The Edge very not my first rodeo boys let’s set the time I

reckon 2 minutes I want to see if it beeps at me ample volume that’s good enough it’s good volume I want to see if it’s non-stick oh very nonstick slidy slidy nice and crispy is it even on this side not bad not bad for fish cookery I am impressed with its non- stickness obviously it is not oven safe I mean one of the perks of having a traditional cast iron pan is that you can put it in the oven it’s a good point so even if I took the thermometer out I still can’t put that

in the oven no that is a shame and it seems to have got hot enough to get that crispy skin I know that’s any pan would yeah cuz it’s just conducting heat and I think that’s where the claims are pointless because any pan you put over a heat source is going to heat up so to claim that it heats up is ridiculous unless your pan is made of ice it’s going to do that uh let’s check the thermometer look at this AB testing mine’s registering 36 37 C M’s rering 28 I mean we could be

millimeters apart so it’s not the fairest of tests this is a glass of warm water we can calibrate our thermometers in that cuz we might have been poking different parts of the fish that wasn’t fair okay but at least the water will be the same for both what’s it registering uh mine’s climbing slowly you’re at 36.9 I’m at 36 I don’t have a point but I’m at 36.3 now so it’s within Dee of this other one which we also don’t know is accurate but at least they’re both similar yeah the pan itself good easy nonstick

which also of course makes it nice and easy to clean cuz even just a cloth will get rid of grease and a little gentle wipe out with a soft cloth and some soapy water will mean you keep that non-stick at the same degree what the P still warm yeah what what’s the internal temperature of your salmon NE solid 52 nice crispy skin good grill marks completely non-stick and idiot proof the thermometer does work it also can tell the time and count down from a time it does everything I just not sure it needs to this

pan comes with a 25e warranty don’t your face up I’d like to read the small print because it probably says except for the non-stick surface cuz there’s no way the ontick surface used in a domestic household will last that long cuz somebody will make a mistake it does say that it doesn’t claim against misuse yeah yeah I’m sorry to say it but it doesn’t feel like a product that would still be in my kitchen in 25 years it’s a convenient place to put the thermometer it will always be there if you remember to put it

back yes and if you don’t remember to put it back you’ll know it’s missing cuz it will hurt your hand yeah do you want to take a crack at how much we paid for this smart griddle pan I’m going to say £50 a good nonstick grill pan willbe it aluminium you’re probably looking at 40 and maybe 15 for a thermometer so 55 £69.99 you paid for this I think for that price you could get a decent griddle pan and a decent thermometer job done well the question that everyone is wanting to hear the answer to

Is the meat Master smart griddle Pan the hottest pan on the market or tempered expectations I’d temper your expectations same plus we used it for fish there’s always a good news better isn’t there you know the drill let us know what you think okay boys next one lift the CL it’s it’s a hob but the side of it looks like a laptop with HDMI ports and SD card slots this is a smart induction hob that takes the core temperature if you’re working with something like caramels to very very precise temperatures this is the tocket Smart

induction hob an ultra thin induction cooker with a knob control system that offers 0 to 99 stepless fine tuning with this feature you have complete control over the Firepower allowing you to cook your favorite dishes with precision and ease and obviously it’s a smart product so it comes with an app press and hold to start how does it feel in comparison to other tabletop induction HS we’ve used it’s very slim line it is very slim line isn’t it it’s much lower to the work surface just 20 mm wow it’s also relatively lightweight and I feel

like therefore it works in spaces that you might not have a hob installed so I can see this working really nicely in something like a camper van or or a caravan that once you’ve kind of only got limited space you can even just slide it in a drawer or tuck it away or hang it afterwards and then you can whip it out and you’ve got an induction hob one pot to prepare stuff in yeah so what options do we have on the on the app Jay the hob is in standby device is ready select a

mode to start cooking uh I’ve got lots of different standard things that I could cook so I could steam soup and conji fried egg creps fried fish SED so I’m guessing these are all going to be different temperatures and different settings for the hob so when chatting this through with Kush and the food team we thought why don’t we s the steak and then sear it at a really high temperature afterwards a great idea Okay so we’ve got a sous function click into that it’s going to take an hour start now what hang on you

can’t have you set the temperature no you must need to set the temperature cuz he doesn’t know what it’s seding at so boys what’s going on we don’t know what temperature it’s going to SED at and you can SED things at 53 or 60 or 42 there’s that but you can do it manually so add custom add custom by temperature I do 55 for this steak steak suved 55° for an hour let’s come back to it in an hour and then we’ll whack up the heat and use the hottest boat do you mean we’ll raise

the Stak let’s raise the temperature of the stakes yeah cooking has ended excellent so hopefully the entire thing is at 53° occasionally because I don’t trust these things I was testing it and it was within a degree the whole time at 53 so now see it yeah so we got the fried steak setting we can change the duration but it’s more the temperature we need it to just get it to instantly gotcha start now press to start absolutely done its job nice steak obviously there’s lots of different ways to SV most of them you need

a separate piece of equipment to maintain the temperature of the water to have that in your hob it’s really useful the question is if you need a single hob that does that on top of already having a hob and other items however I can think of many cases where it would be useful like pastry kitchens where you might have lots of ovens and fridges but you rarely have a hob set so something like that is quite good for jams and custards and purees and whatever else small uni kitchens or tiny Apartments like really good and

you have that extra features slim line and tucked away and it’s one single use hob I can see its validity there I don’t know if you need an app to control it from far away particular when you got to press go on here anyway the only thing the app does all allow to do is set the exact temperature and it has lots of inspiration with recipes generally I find the preload recipes are pretty rubbish because cooking isn’t that Universal it doesn’t know how thick your steak is it doesn’t know what temperature is out of the

oven so most of the time cook using your head and your heart not using smart technology would you like to guess how much this retails in the UK for 9085 £119 it’s a lot cheaper than buying four induction Hobs fair right if if if you only need one you might as well buy a smart one I agree I think if you’re looking for an induction hob then I would get a smart one that has this kind of precision to it cuz I think that will help you so the Tucket smart induction hob is it fine-tune

Precision or a silly decision good rhyme and it’s the former fine tune Precision yeah well we’ve heard their thoughts but what do you think comment down below now let us know boys left the CL oh it’s a box oh it’s a Smart Box cuz it’s got a button it’s got It’s a steam box that’s that’s for your water no I’d say water goes under here in there I would suggest is a selection of things you want steaming perhaps dim some and then you’ve also got space for chili oil or soy or something which can be

packed up and taken to your place of work sit on your desk plenty of space to put your pen pots and your rulers and your you know stapler around and when it comes to lunchtime you think I’ll take that off I’ll put that on and I’ll steam at my desk I like it is that what it does this is the steam box lunchbox yes The self-heating Lunchbox enjoy hot food anywhere anytime be in control of what when and where you eat is that not just the case anyway that’s just life steaming is a fast and

healthy way to reheat food use our autonomous streaming technology to reheat up to three meals in a single charge and obviously it’s got an app all right we are on and we are in the app so in your tray you have some leftover spaghetti bolines hate to break it to ERS but that bit’s not for cheese it’s for the water makes more sense so water goes in obviously when you’ve carried it in your rock sack it’s kind of smush one in but I think it’s important to try and spread it out because that will help

the steam to heat it up quicker lid on unplug some strange reason it won’t start steaming until it’s unplugged 12 minutes to steam start let’s go oh interestingly it’s already counting down from that 12 minutes even though the water is cold so we’re not going to get 12 yeah we’re not going to get 12 minutes of steaming we might get eight nine something like that it is Bluetooth connected it says it’s doing everything it needs stopped when it got to 3 seconds okay it heated it we can hear it bubbling inside this isn’t hot at

all let’s hope there steam inside inside the steam box we have not a lot of steam really cold spaghetti botonet I shouldn’t be able to pick that up I mean there is steam but I shouldn’t be able to pick that up it’s hot on the bottom that’s the only place and it used about a third of the battery power so if you were to have to do that for 25 minutes don’t get me wrong you just set it on your desk it’s doing its thing it could go for 25 minutes it’s going to zap through

that battery power I’m trying to think what we’ve done wrong I don’t think you’ve done anything wrong it’s steaming it’s it’s working just 12 minutes isn’t enough and with that inside of it what I was kind of hoping was the steam would be all around so actually the steam would heat the top as much as it has the Bott cuz it has heated the bottom but it hasn’t got to the top and yet if you had something in a steamer it should be heating all around I mean that’s hot on the bottom of the pot

but the top is Stone Cold for me this feels like it could be really good we were both excited when we open it I think it’s got a lot of potential that might not be there yet would you like to guess at how much this is retailing for £30 I worry it’s going to be more 45 £174 goodness me save your cash you heard it here first take out all of our potential wrongdoings if that did everything as it’s supposed to do I still don’t think that’s worth 175 quid I’d use a microwave and that

stays permanently plugged in you don’t have to keep unplugging it and charging it and then and get your app you just push a button sorry I’m out okay so the steam box lunch box is it steamy dreamy or a load of hot air somebody’s put so much effort into this but it’s just a load of hot air it’s lukew air best it’s not even hot air well over to you guys what did you think give us a like if you enjoyed this video and if you see any other smart gadgets on the market send us
