SW Idaho weather cool heading into summer solstice, then heating up

Spring last day of spring today and it is holding on for dear life wite crazy weather we’ve seen all se. Yeah, it’s like saying OK, summer’s coming and I’ll have to leave, but I’m not giving up yet this morning. There are places around the valley that have temperatures down cold enough for frost. Looking S toward the airport, we can see the clear skies for the most part across the area, and that is the case throughout most of southwest Idaho. At the airport it’s currently 41 degrees, but that’s the warm spot everywhere else. We’re seeing temperatures

either in the low 40s down into the mid to upper 30s around the Treasure Valley from South Boise, South Meridian, up into portions of east Boise g the foothills and out towards Sr and Napa as well seeing some pay frost around South winds at 5 m, so very light at the airport. That’s what’s keeping the temperature up a bit, All right. Storm tracker showing clear skies across the region, no precipitation except down in the southeast part of the States and scattered showers, but the frost advisory remains in effect for the eastern. Magic Valley into the

Upper Snake River plains. Dense fog advisories out for the mountain valleys this morning. Mccall’s had visibility below 14 mile in areas of dense fog and t will

last for the next few hours until it clears up well to the West o. We do have a disturbance in Southern Oregon, part of the larger low pressure through that’s been giving us this coold unsettle weather and yesterday’s high? Only 62 degrees in Boise. That was a record for the date for the coolest high temperature on June 19th. And we also had temperatures ine low 60s over the Magic

Valley t, so cool everywhere by about 20 degrees below normal. This disturbance in Southern Oregon will shift eastward toda, and as it does so, it will trigger more clouds and scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms into the afternoon for the valley areas with some snow showers in the mountains above about 6000 feet yesterday, anywhere from 1 to as much as 6 inches of snow in those higher elevati. See you later on tonight. Summer arrives early tomorrow morning and we’ll be looking at chilly temperatures again but warming n the afternoon tomorrow and on through the rest of

the week as summer settles in. So what we’re looking at for today for the Magic Valley is temperatures in the mid 60s, sunny skies, but a breezy afternoon for this last day of spring and up in the Central mountains, 50s in most locations with temperatures tonight back down to the 20s. Could be a few isolated showersp over the higher elevations therd in the West Central Mountains as well. We’ll call Donnie and Cascade. In the mid 50s, with a chance of afternoon rain after the morning, fog clears away and then showers pop up in the afternoon.

65 in council with a chance of showers, partly cloudy in the Treasure Valley, with isolated showers or a thunderstorm possible this afternoon and temperatures in the mid to upper sixties. 68 in Boise, 65 in Mountain Home was pretty frosty this morning. Tomorrow morning summer arrives at 3:14 AM in the afternoon sunshine and 73 degrees. 81 on Thursday and Friday. Still a few isolated showers possible in the weekend, but otherwise generally dry and turning hot by next weekend. So we go from record cool yesterday up to the nearly 90 degrees by Sunday and Monday.
