Walter Davis, 5-time NBA All-Star and former Denver Nugget, dies at 69

Sad news to pass along today about a former nugget fan favorite. The team announcing that Walter Davis has passed away at the age of 69. Of course, he was a great player at the University of North Carolina, went on to win a gold medal for the USA in the 1976 Olympic Games. Then drafted by the Phoenix Suns with the fifth pick of the 1977 draft. His speed earned him the nickname the Greyhound in his silky jump shot helped him become the all time scorer in Suns history. He still is. Walter Davis played his final four

seasons largely here in Denver. Then he would later serve the team as a broadcaster and a community ambassador for the Nuggets. The team posting a statement on social media this afternoon calling Davis a great man who left a lasting impression on the organization again. Walter Davis was 69 years old.
