Andy Murray sobre Roger Federer… "¡Roger Federer es una LEYENDA!" -Wimbledon 2023

organization when asking your question we’re going to go straight into questions we would like to ask the first question normally applying to quite late aren’t you yeah I mean even I mean it’s still quite you know quite late by the time you get get done with all your stuff you know the match are also pretty you know pretty fast quick matches today which is good um yeah I was I should just stay out there it’s already 7 30 by the time we get home you know be 8 30 9 o’clock it’s and that’s even worth

the matches finishing finishing quick but yeah this has been one of the earlier finishes over the last few years yeah um Andy how was it having Roger Federer watching your match his expert eye and did you get to speak to him at all afterwards or since I saw him briefly uh when I came off the court um yeah I mean the the obviously like during the labor cup uh last year he was obviously sitting on the side watching the match there and then I only remember one one other time um having in those like I

said on the court when I played stamarink and the in the Olympics um but yeah and it’s obviously brilliant to have him around the event and

you know I really hope he which I I I’m pretty sure he will you know be around the sport a lot I know he he loves uh loves tennis um and yeah great to have him have him back here okay and they wonder how happy you were with your tennis today your level especially since two and three and how much more you’ll need for for round two whether it’s Timor

or set to pass either yeah I mean I I didn’t start the match how I would have liked um but you know is always like different conditions playing on under the roof um you know especially when you consider last uh you know last few days been quite quite cool pretty Breezy outdoors and then you know playing in in those conditions is is a bit different um but yeah that’s the match went on uh you know unforced errors you know like I cut them out um you know and I was pretty ruthless um you know the

beginning of you know the second and third sets um there was no sort of dip and intensity or anything and I got got ahead early in those sets and you know did did well um so yeah I was I was pleased with with everything apart from the beginning sorry just back on uh Roger again he said it’s great to have him around but I just wondered because he’s right there at the front is it a little bit weird at all to have like one of your rivals I guess it might be in your eye line

I mean maybe you don’t seem but maybe you do I just wondered if it was a tall strange um I I didn’t find it strange I mean you know I I mean it was it was it was nice to to have him there and I’m I think I mean all of the um you know Sampras is you know has sat up there and you know watched Roger and Rafa and you know those those guys and you know I’ve sat and um you know World labor has been a bunch of matches like the Australian Open what

have you and yeah I guess it is you know it can be strange but it’s also nice to to have them there and um yeah I’ve had experience of it in in the past and um yeah I I mean I don’t don’t find it too much too much of a distraction to be honest hi Andy um obviously tell me if I’m imagining things but is there anything slightly different about your service motion um yeah a little bit um yeah made slight change uh after well at the beginning of the the grass season it came about

kind of yeah just I was just messing around in practice and um seemed seemed to work so stuck with it is it a bit less arch in the back is that um well I mean I I don’t know if if that has been a consequence of me making it you know any change I wasn’t you know trying to get less arch in my back I was just trying to you know take less of a you know a step I used to sort of sway quite far back on my serve uh was you know with my

back leg and also like the arm that I tossed the ball from would you know come back with me quite far yeah so just try to simplify the beginning of the the the serve um that was it and it’s your second most convincing School line ever here obviously the last couple of years you’ve had some some battles and long batches how much confidence you take from getting that done so so quickly um I mean not so much confidence just yeah like like obviously what happened and what has happened a lot of the you know the

the majors that I played in the last few years like I’ve had lots of you know pretty long long matches early on in the tournament and yes you can recover from them but it’s it’s not like I’ve had like a really long match in the fresher and then the next one’s been like straightforward like I’ve had multiple long matches one after one after another so yeah I mean anytime you get the chance to finish a match quickly and conserve some energy you know it’s you know it’s a really positive thing and it’s not it’s not

necessarily confidence that I gain from it it just means that you know hopefully the deeper I go into the tournament the fresher the fresher I will be Andy you said on court that you were nervous at the beginning is that just standard first round nerves are you more nervous than usual and if so do you have any idea um no I mean I always get nervous at the the beginning of Wimbledon and I like that I like to feel I like to feel that way um yeah I mean it’s it’s great like if I was

going on the court and felt flat and wasn’t you know didn’t have any emotion um when when I’m walking out there that’s you know something would probably be you know be a bit wrong um but yeah there’s also like I said you are playing in different conditions like it’s not it’s not the same playing with the roof closed it’s more humid it was extremely loud at the beginning like with the you know with the rain um and you know the core is a little bit um I always find there’s you know it’s a little bit

harder to move on it’s a little bit um a little bit slippy one especially the beginning of the event when when the roof closes and
