First GOP debate for 2024 Presidential Election

The first GOP debate of the 2024 presidential election is happening tonight in Milwaukee. Republican presidential hopefuls will square off against each other in the primary debate, but former President Donald Trump will not be there. A candidates are scheduled to take the stage tonight. Not all of them, though, are going to make it. North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum ended up in the ER with a basketball injury, and he says he’s going to do what he can to try to make the debate, but it’s not a guarantee. Former President Donald Trump is guaranteed to skip the debate.

The front runner says he taped an interview with Tucker Carlson, which will be released just as the debate begins tonight. He’s promising fireworks. Republican voters tell CBS News in the latest poll that they want to hear the candidates on the stage tonight talk about the issues and not take shots at each other. Because that’s more of a distraction than anything else. I want them to address the problems that our country has. President Biden, vacationing in Lake Tahoe, California, says he plans to watch as much of the Republican debate as he can.
