Samsung Galaxy S24 vs S24 Plus vs S24 Ultra – Which should you Buy?

– The Samsung Galaxy S24 series is finally official. I’ve had some early hands on time and here’s everything you need to know. What’s up guys? Saf here on SuperSaf TV. And we’re going to break down all of the key differences SuperSaf style so you know which device might be right for you. So as expected, we do have three new Samsung Galaxy S24 devices, the S24, the S24+ and the S24 Ultra. They all look very similar to last year. We do have that triple ring design. So as before, the S24 Ultra does have more of a

box off design and that’s because it does have the S Pen. The S24 and the S24+ are smaller compared to the S24 Ultra. They also have carved edges, which makes ’em a bit more comfortable. Now for the S24 and the S24+, Samsung’s used what they’re calling a one mass design, so there’s a seamless connection between the rear and the side. And the frame is now enhanced armor aluminum, which is around 10% stronger than before. And it also has a matte finish, which I prefer compared to the glossy finish that we had on the S23 and

the S23+. The S24 Ultra now has a titanium frame, which is supposed to give you improved durability as well as enhanced resistance against dents.

And we have Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the S24, the S24+ both front and back. The S24 Ultra, although it still has a Gorilla Glass Vitus 2 back, the front is now using a brand new Gorilla Armor. This is exclusive to the S24 Ultra and it can reduce reflections by up to 75%. It’s around four times more scratch resistant and it’s also using 25% recycled materials. Now my S23 Ultra does have

some scratches because I didn’t use a screen protector, so it’s nice to see that we’ve got this update and the S24 Ultra now has a flat display. The Ultra devices traditionally have had curved displays, but now they’ve gone all out flat. This will come down to your personal preference. I think curved displays look better, but flatter displays are more practical, especially with the S Pen and they are easier to apply screen protectors to. All devices do have an IP68 water and dust resistant rating and they are available in four colors. We’ve got a black, a

gray, a violet, as well as a yellow. Samsung does like to give these colors some fancy names. I’ll put them on screen. For the S24 Ultra, all of the colors are called titanium, so titanium gray, black, violet, as well as yellow. However, there are some exclusive colors that are going to be available directly from samsung.com for the S24, the S24+ as well as the S24 Ultra. There’s a blue and orange as well as a green. Now if you are interested in picking up any of these devices, then you can use my exclusive affiliate link down

in the description below. That’s going to give you up to $150 of Samsung credit instantly and it’s also going to give you up to double the storage, so do check that out. Now the size of the devices are very similar to what we had last year and the weight of them, maybe a few grams here and there, but also very similar. But the S24 and the S24+ do have slightly larger displays compared to the S23 and the S23+, and that’s because we have slightly smaller bezels. So the S24 now has a 6.2 inch display. The

S24+ has a 6.7 inch display. The S24 Ultra has the same 6.8 inch display. All displays have dynamic AMOLED 2X technology. We’ve got an Infinity-O punch out. This is slightly smaller compared to what we had last year. And all devices do have LTPO 4.0 technology, so that’s an adaptive refresh rate. So they can all go up to 120 hertz making everything very smooth, but they can also go all the way down to just one hertz making things efficient. All devices now also have a peak brightness of 2,600 nits, which is very bright and much brighter

compared to the 1,750 nits of last year. Now the S24 has the same resolution, full HD+ which is still really good, but the S24+ has now been updated to have a quad HD+ resolution. So things are going to be sharper. And we’ve also got a quad HD+ resolution on the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. All three devices have the same Gen 2 Qualcomm 3D Sonic sensor. This hasn’t really been changed for the past few years, but it works absolutely fine. Now let’s talk about the cameras. – Hey, SideSaf here. You guys know the drill. If you

are enjoying this video so far, do consider subscribing and hitting that bell icon because we’ve got (bell dings) lots more coverage including lots of SuperSaf style comparisons. You don’t want to miss it. Alright, I’m out. – So as SideSaf mentioned, don’t forget to subscribe if you want to see the detailed camera reviews. The S24 and the S24+ do have the same hardware as we had last year. So it’s a 12 megapixel selfie camera, a 12 megapixel ultra wide camera, 50 megapixel primary camera, as well as a 10 megapixel telephoto camera, which is going to give

you three times optical zoom and up to 30 times digital zoom, which Samsung calls space zoom. Now although the hardware is the same, we do have a new image signal processor as well as new software optimizations which should improve the images. The S24 Ultra has the same selfie camera, 12 megapixels, a 12 megapixel ultra wide camera, 200 megapixel primary camera, a 10 megapixel three times zoom telephoto camera. But we do have a brand new periscope zoom camera. This is 50 megapixels and it’s going to give you up to five times optical zoom, up to 10

times lossless zoom, and up to 100 times space zoom. Now this is something that I’m looking forward to testing out more because it does have lower optical zoom compared to the S23 Ultra, but it does have a high resolution, 50 megapixels. So in theory it should still give you lossless zoom at 10x. I’ve done some brief testing on this. It does look pretty good, but once again, we are going to be doing detailed comparisons to see how well it really performs. The new 50 megapixel periscope camera can also take in 160% more light and it

also has two times wider OIS, so it should also be improved for low light. Now something new that we’ve got across all of the devices is the new pro visual AI engine, and this is going to give you some really interesting AI photo editing features. So once you’ve taken an image, you can go inside the Samsung Gallery and then you can tap these three stars. And then you’re going to get lots of editing suggestions such as being able to remove a reflection, turning a regular photo into a portrait mode photo, as well as some generative

edit features. These are similar to what we’ve seen on the Pixel 8 Pro devices. So for instance, if you do want to remove people in the background, you’re going to be able to do that. You can select subjects, change their sizes, move them around. And if you’ve got a friend who can never take a good straight picture, then you can actually rotate the image in post and generative AI will fill in the gaps. Now a lot of these features are cloud-based, so they do need an internet connection and they do take a bit of time,

but some of the results are quite impressive so far. For video, we do have 8K up to 30 frames a second. And this year, we do have 4K up to 120 frames a second. Now this is going to be in the pro video mode, so it’s not going to be available as a standard. And there’s also a new instant slow-mo feature, so you can just long press a video that you’ve got in the gallery and then it’s going to use AI to generate intermediate frames and slow down that video for you. So lots of new

AI features for photos and videos, which I’m not sure how often I’m going to be using, but I am definitely looking forward to trying out. Right, now let’s talk about the performance. So the S24 Ultra is going to have a consistent chipset across the board no matter which region you buy it from. It’s going to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy. This is going to have a slightly higher clock speed compared to just the standard 8 Gen 3 that you’re going to have on other devices. The S24 and the S24+

will have the Samsung Exynos 2400 for Galaxy in some regions and that includes the UK. In other regions, they will have the 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy like the S24 Ultra has. But we’ve kind of gone back to what Samsung used to do with different chipsets for the different devices in different regions. Now I can’t really comment on the Samsung Exynos 2400 because I haven’t tested it out yet. This is going to be a specific version for Galaxy. So this once again, will have a high clock speed compared to the Samsung Exynos 2400 on other

devices. The S24 will come with 8GB of RAM. The S24+ and the S24 Ultra will come with 12GB of RAM. They will also come with a base of 256 GB of storage. We’ve got a 512 GB version on both as well. However, the S24 Ultra does have a specific 1 TB version if you are somebody who really needs that storage. The S24 will have 128 as well as 256 GB storage options. Now the S24 Ultra also has a 1.9 times larger vapor chamber, so that’s going to give you enhanced heat dissipation. So it’s going to

give you more sustained performance. And all devices do have LPDDR 5X RAM, so that’s some of the fast RAM available. And the devices with either 256 GB or above will have UFS 4.0 storage. Now let’s talk about the software. So we will have Android 14 out of the box with One UI 6.1. Now Samsung has promised seven generations of Android OS updates. Now this is pretty impressive. It brings it in line with the Google Pixel devices and Samsung has been really, really good with software updates. And you must have heard it already. There is a

a big, big push on some of the AI software features that we’ve got on the new S24 series. I’m going to run through as many as I can, the ones that I’ve tested. The first one is live translate. This is real-time AI two-way translation, which will support 13 languages at launch with more coming later. So if you’re abroad and you want to book a table, and you don’t speak the local language, you could just call up and then just speak in English and it’s going to translate that and make the other person hear in that

local language. When they reply, it’s again going to translate that back to you and the person on the other side doesn’t have to have an S24 series device. They could have an iPhone. There’s the interpreter feature. So once again, if you want to speak to somebody that speaks a different language, you can just speak in your language and then it’s going to translate that over to them. Now this did get a couple of words wrong when I was testing it, “SuperSaf,” but hey, that is something that’s quite specific. But everything else it did seem to

translate pretty well. This Chat Assist, which will adjust the tone of the conversation that you’re having. So if you want it to sound more professional, it’s going to be able to do that. If you want it to sound more fun, it can add emojis and things like that too. Browsing Assist is pretty cool. It can bullet point key facts and summarize a webpage for you similar to what we’ve seen on the Google Pixel devices. The Circled Search, so you can just press and hold the home button and circle anything on screen either with your finger

or the S Pen on the S24 Ultra and it’s going to give you more information about it. This also works with the camera, so you can just point your camera at something, hold the home button, and then just circle around it. And there are also some updates on Android Auto. So you can now have a One UI 6.1 interface on Android Auto and it’s going to use AI to determine your location. If somebody messages you, you can reply to them with your ETA. So lots of new AI features. Once again, I’m not sure how often

I’m going to use all of them, but some I do think I would use quite often. For the speakers, we have stereo speakers on all three devices with Dolby Atmos. And for the battery, so the S24 Ultra does have the same size battery as the S23 Ultra, 5,000 mAH. The S24 and the S24+ actually have larger batteries compared to the S23 and the S23+. So the S24 has 100 mAH more, 4,000 mAH. The S24+ has a 4,900 mAH battery. So that’s actually 200 mAH more compared to the S23+. And it brings it very close to

the S24 Ultra. Now the S24 Ultra obviously still needs space for the S Pen, so that’s probably the reason why they’ve not been able to increase their battery size. But the S24+, I mean that’s a big battery. For charging, we don’t have any changes. All of them do not come with a charger out of the box. The S24 can support 25 watts of wired charging. The S24 Ultra and the S24+ can support up to 45 watts of wired charging. All three devices do have up to 15 watts of wireless charging supported. For connectivity, we’ve got

Bluetooth 5.3 across all three. The S24 and the S24+ have WiFi 6e. The S24 Ultra does have support for WiFi 7. So if you do have a compatible router, then you will be getting some very high speeds. The S24+ and the S24 Ultra also have ultra-wideband technology. Finally, pricing and availability. So the S24 and the S24+ will be starting at the same price as the S23 and the S23+ in the US. So that’s around $800 or $1,000. In the UK, we’re actually getting a price reduction. So the S24 is going to start at around 800

pounds and the S24+ is going to start at around 1,000 pounds. This is around 50 pounds cheaper compared to what we had on the S23 and the S23+ last year. The S24 Ultra, however, in the UK is going to start at the same price as the S23 Ultra, so that’s 1,250 pounds. In the US, it’s going to be increased by $100, so it’s going to start at $1,300, whereas the S23 Ultra started at $1,200. So a bit of a price shuffle. If you are thinking of buying any of these devices, once again, you can use

my exclusive affiliate link down in the description below and that will give you up to double the storage as well as up to $150 in instant Samsung credit. So there we have it, the Samsung Galaxy S24, the S24+, and the S24 Ultra. Incremental updates here and there, but some interesting new features as well. I think for me in particular, it’s interesting to see the improvements that we’ve got on the S24+. It’s almost an Ultra without the S Pen and that periscope and 200 megapixel camera because we now have the Quad HD+ resolution. We also have

that bigger battery. What do you guys think of the S24 series? Would you be picking it up? Drop me a comment below. Let me know your thoughts. Let me know what other coverage you’d like me to do with these devices. I’ve already done an unboxing of the S24 Ultra, which you can see here. And my future comparisons will be linked here.
