Xiaomi 14 Indian Retail Unit Unboxing & First Look ⚡ Pocket Rocket With Leica Magic 🪄

Friends, let me tell you something, Xiaomi 14 excites me! We’ve tested it for a few days now. Oh my God! I mean seriously, Xiaomi is doing a great job even at the flagship level. In fact, whatever I’m reading about Xiaomi these days, they’re going towards the premiumization of smartphones. Till now they were playing on Value For Money, now they’re going to bring a lot of premium smartphones. And I think this base variant, Xiaomi 14, it has Xiaomi 14, Pro, Ultra & the number series of Xiaomi is their flagship series. And interestingly, in 2021, they launched

Xiaomi 11 Ultra, it had an amazing camera. After that, in 2022-23, they launched Xiaomi 13 Pro, 12 Pro etc. And now in 2024, they’ve launched the base variant. And I’ll tell you what, it’s the base variant but it’s amazing. I mean in every aspect, especially in the aspect of the camera, I’m impressed. Yes, this unboxing is going to be a little different. We’re going to travel to Germany very soon, we’re going to see the factory of Leica & their camera. So we’re going to include that as well. We’re going to take a lot of photos

in Germany as well. So you’re going to see a lot of samples there as well. And we’re going to tell you some

new things about this phone as well. So this video might be a little long, but you’ll get to know what is Xiaomi 14 & why is it so exciting. So friends, if you’re here for the first time, then don’t forget to subscribe & hit the like button. Let’s open the Xiaomi 14 Black Box, Silver Lettering, Co-Engineered with Leica. Over the years, the Leica partnership with Xiaomi has been growing & that’s nice. First, there’s

the documentation, then you have the case. It’s a nice case, not a plain simple case. It’s a nice grey case And this is… Oh My God! It feels good. This is compact, just look at this, I can touch my fingers like this It’s definitely a very compact phone. Compact flagship excites me. Because it’s so small, it’s a rare breed. There’s only 1 phone, you know which one it is, I’m not going to name it. But I think it has a competition. It has a 120W charger, but I think the phone supports 90W, but you get

a big brick. You have a USB Type A to Type C cable. What else is there? The sim card tool comes here. That’s about it. It’s a big box with a lot of stuff & I don’t mind it at all. Let’s look at the phone. Just look at this phone, it’s so compact & so nice. Even if you have small hands, you’ll feel right at home. Even though it’s small, it feels hefty. I won’t say it’s heavy, but it feels like it’s packed with something The black looks very premium, but it has 4 colours, white,

black & green. But this, in my view, looks the most premium, look at this. I don’t know what protection is on the back, but obviously there’s protection. It’s a specialized glass. The camera module is 50MP with 3 sensors, so these are big sensors & it’s visible. Look at this, the phone’s half size module comes out. This is going to happen. But the cameras are amazing, wait for that. Let’s drop it quickly & wait for it. It’s a small phone, but it feels hefty. It’s a small phone, but it feels hefty. Let’s drop it. It has

a screen guard, let’s remove it. Let’s have some satisfaction. Oh yes, nice. Very nice. You get Gorilla Glass Victus protection on the front & back. Alright, let’s drop it now. 1, 2 & 3. No, nothing. It shouldn’t be a problem, it’s a flagship. Absolutely nothing. Let’s look at the ports & buttons. There’s a big speaker grill, USB Type C port & a microphone. And then you’ve got a sim card tool. There’s nothing on the left hand side. There’s nothing on the top as well. There’s a volume rocker on the right hand side. And then you

have a power on off button. There’s no noise cancelling microphone on the top, but you can see a microphone here. Let’s talk about the display. It’s form factor is small, but the display is still quite big Because the bezels are very thin. The chin is 1.71mm & the bezels are 1.61mm, so they’re very thin And that’s why you get a big 6.36” AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate. And the LTPO display has an adaptive refresh rate from 1Hz to 120Hz. Talking about the brightness, you have 3000nits peak brightness It has Dolby Vision support, HDR10+, it’s

a 12bit display, so you get 64-68 billion colours. It’s an absolutely gorgeous display. It has DC dimming, TUV Rheinland’s Low Light Certification. So everything you want in a flagship smartphone display is here Specifications It comes with the latest & greatest 8th Gen 3 processor. There were 4 variants launched in China, but there’s only 1 variant in India. It’s a 12GB RAM 512GB, and it’s priced at Rs 70-75K. And I’ll tell you what, for that price, it offers you a lot. It has the latest & greatest LPDDR5X RAM type, UFS 4.0 storage type. Talking about the

AnTuTu score, it’s close to 2 million, so it’s excellent. It has a 4610mAh battery, 90W charging, although you get a 120W adapter, plus 50W wireless charging. So if you do wired charging, it’ll get fully charged in 35 minutes and if you do wireless charging, it’ll get fully charged in 45-46 minutes. And to regulate the battery health & fast charging, it has the Surge P2 chipset. I’ll talk about the performance & AnTuTu score, but I’ll also talk about the thermals. But HyperOS is something that’s new, so we’ll talk about that First, it comes with HyperOS 1

which is based on Android 14. Secondly, it’s lightweight & the footprint has reduced, so it looks snappier. When you swipe, touch, open apps, etc, it looks fast. MIUI was a little bulky, but not this one. It’s lightweight & snappy Talking about features, it has lock screen customization, so you can customize a lot of things. For example, you can customize the apps that you like. You also get 4 years major updates & 5 years security updates, so it’s good. One thing that I didn’t like is that it has pre-installed apps These are apps that you use

like LinkedIn, Opera Browser, Snapchat etc. But they’re 3rd party apps that you can uninstall. And you get up to 8GB of virtual RAM support. We’ve made a full video on HyperOS, so do check it out. But definitely if I compare it with MIUI, HyperOS is a step ahead Talking about performance, it feels more fluid when compared to MIUI. You can play games on the highest settings. It has 8th Gen 3, LPDDR5X RAM type, UFS 4.0 storage type. So all that is good. Read & write speeds are good. You can play games on the highest settings.

Talking about sustained CPU performance, I didn’t see much CPU throttling. We ran a test & we got 82% CPU throttling which is excellent Talking about thermals, when the phone is hot & you play a lot like Genshin Impact for 30-45 mins, it goes upto 43-45 degrees The performance is sustained & you don’t see a drop in performance in actual life. So even if it’s practical & hot, you get consistent performance. We played Genshin Impact continuously for 50-55 mins & we got 59-60 FPS. We didn’t get less than that. They’ve done very well in terms of

performance. But there’s a good news for gamers. The USB Type C is 3.2 Gen 1. If you’re streaming, you’ll get good throughput. If you’re a streamer, you’ll be able to record 1.5K at 90FPS. What else do you want with 3.2? It’s excellent. We noticed another thing in gaming, which I really liked. The haptic feedback is very tight & you get a very good feel. Talking about sensors, there’s an in-display fingerprint sensor It’s optical & not ultrasonic. But you can use the fingerprint sensor as a heart rate sensor We compared it with a smartwatch & it’s

quite accurate. We got nearly similar results. There’s a heart rate sensor, fingerprint sensor, face unlock & all other sensors. Connectivity is 5G. They haven’t specified but all the bands are supported. There’s carrier aggregation, 2CA, WiFi 7 & Bluetooth 5.4. There’s NFC support & IR blaster is right below the flash. So when you start the AC, it’s not like this. Sim card tray has dual nano sim card slots, so you can use 1 eSIM & 1 physical sim. Camera setup is great, it’s a triple camera setup with 50MP x 50MP x 50MP. The primary sensor is

Light Hunter 900, it’s a low light sensor with good performance. The other 2 sensors are Telephoto, which gives you 75mm f3.2x zoom, JN1, Ultra Wide 50MP, JN1 Samsung. In selfie mode, you get a 32MP selfie sensor. Photographs are great, I’m giving you the G-Drive link, do check it out. But I have to talk about low light & portraits, these 2 have great performance. Especially portraits are probably the best on a compact flagship Performance is good as it’s co-engineered with Leica, which is probably one of the best known for cameras. And why low light has such

good performance? Because it’s a semi lux lens with a high aperture. It doesn’t go above f2.0, it’s from f1.0 to f2.0, so it’s great for low light. Dynamic range is 13.5 stops, which gives good primary colours & good white balance. There are a lot of features in the camera, there are 95 filters, Leica’s own 7-8 filters, Pro mode, Movie mode, Video, Photo, Night, Document, Time Lapse, AI Watermark, Slow Motion, 50MP native mode, Super Moon mode, Director’s Cut, Long Exposure, Trails etc. So it’s a feature rich camera & if you’re a photographer, you’re going to love

this camera for sure. Portraits have 4 focal lengths of 35mm, 50mm, 75mm & 95mm. Video Graphics don’t have any corners, it has a 8K 24FPS primary sensor. But all 3 sensors give you 4K 60FPS. You can shoot a log video in Pro mode, if you’re a professional. And the slow motion is 19-20FPS, I think I experienced it on the Mi 11 Ultra. You get it in the Xiaomi 14 base variant too. Even in selfies, there was a cap of 4K 30FPS till last year, now you get a 4K 60FPS selfie sensor. Selfies have great skin

tones & OIS is also there, so the camera is top notch. Telephoto has a tele-macro lens too, but the Ultra Wide doesn’t have autofocus. And it has a floating lens too, so you can shoot tele-macro shots There’s so much in it, so what else is there in the Pro & Ultra? The cameras are amazing, it has variable aperture, it has a fixed f1.6. So do subscribe to it, as it’s videos are coming soon. AI, we’ll talk about the flagships in 2024. AI Sky Replacement is already there, but there are many AI features coming in the

upcoming updates. So I’m looking forward to those. Multimedia, it has a 6.36” display with 12bit colors. There are no problems, it’s an immersive video viewing experience. There are stereo speakers that support Dolby Atmos. The display supports Dolby Vision, so you can stream in FHD on Netflix. If you’re ok with a slightly smaller screen, I’d say the multimedia is amazing. Let’s talk about the small things, there’s no notification light, there’s no SR-Value within limits, there’s NFC support, there’s Widevine L1, there’s wireless charging, there’s IP68 certification, there’s no FM radio. There’s a trend with the Note 13

Pro+, the phone that’s launching in China is coming to India. It’s not like they’ve downgraded it. The phone that’s launching there is launching here too. And it’s the same with Xiaomi 14, I’m very happy about it. In fact, I’ll go one step further and say that the compact flagship definitely has a competition. This might be the best compact flagship out there, at least till now What do you think about Xiaomi 14? Do let us know in the comments. If you have any questions, do ask us, we’ll get to the full detailed review very soon. That’s

all for this video, until the next one, Keep Trakin & Stay Safe!
